Newtcam is on, if you'd like to spy on him.

I must've dreamt of time travel last night, because I think I took off three days' worth of beard.

Looks like Tropical Storm Isidore is going to get us wet, but not blown. Still pretty variable... Rainfall estimates ranged from 3 to 25 inches. Feet of rain! I'm glad that I live someplace with good drainage! (We’ve already lowered the canals to be extra ready.) We're already 10 inches above normal this year.

Realvideo weather channel clip

Found a new nearby hobby store... maybe I can get some custom terrain there at a reasonable cost. They're open on Sundays! Hoody-hoo!

I put a bunch of my old magic cards up on mkrealms' neutral grounds for trade... maybe I'll find a MtG monkey that will give me toys (or even spending money) for my cardboard!

Sometimes I think that Newt's Amber eyes are turning just the littlest bit green...but it might just be a trick of the light.

Speed of light broken with basic lab kit. I'm not as interested in the applications of this so much (since, as the article says, it doesn't mean we'll have warp drives or time machines anytime soon) as the low cost & ease of doing it. It's like Edison & Tesla!

Carpe Vultus - Man is driving car. Man has seizure. Man crashes car into Woman's car. Woman sues - not for the damage done to her car (one would assume insurance covers that), but because she was freaked out by the bizarre faces Man Having Seizure was making. Woman wins, Man has to pay £3,500 in compensation. Ugh... well, at least it's not in the USA this time...we can point fingers at other legal systems for stupid lawsuits too.

I want to just goof off today.

I'd like to get to work, have someone offer to take me out to a long lunch near my house, and have Kev call mid-payment of the check, and have them drop me at home... so I can return on Thursday, refreshed.

Erica in accounting (She's been at the company for five years, from 16 to 21...) gave her week's notice on Monday.

Another victim of the hubbub here at work, and not wanting to work with the Finn too closely. More's the pity... ol' Rico is an excellent worker, and a good person. We keep swapping out wheat for more chaff... I wonder who's next to call it a day?

Taken out for potato pancakes. That'd be nice.

Next week or so is birthday week... Bro and Kev.. This weekend it's going to be prezzie time. Bro's easy, Kev... I'll have to roam the software and toy store aisles, and see what calls my name. Also sweetheart's Lj-versary.

Newt's Birthday is first week next month, and sweetheart's is the second week. They're both easy to shop for too. Then I'll be set.

Beat the Geeks on Ben Stein's Money... I suspect the geeks' show is dying, to have to guest star elsewhere. I don't like the movie geek "Marc"...he gives me a weird vibe. The TV and music geeks look like they could carry a pleasant conversation though.

Sending more healing vibes to my sweetheart... she's still sicky, :(.... *huggo-lovies-mendo-fixits* it seems to be going around, too. Everyone should be drinking lots of fluids, and resting!

Enough dawdling... time for me to head out. I think I'm going to spoil myself a little today, and get a big, hot lunch of something really good tasting, and probably not too good for my health.

Have a happy, dear journal.

psychic flower... it can read your mind.. But it won't. It respects your privacy. He's not really an amputee... I just didn't draw his arms and legs. bus driverRed Dog, the pir8 guy! Let me see if I have Riker's Kazaa letter...Riker at work got an email today, regarding his Internet account, Kazaa, and Goldmember... nope, not cc:ed to me yet. I'll post it tomorrow.

The long and the short of it is that they saw him with Goldmember shared on his computer, and they're going to press charges for illegal distro of copy written goods. Sent such a scare, that kazaa is verboten at our workplace. Ah well... I'll still do it from home. I just grab mst3k and cartoons these days, anyhow. Yikes! I still have to burn some CDs, typing of which.

Dream last night of a neighbor coming over, complaining about my reading lamp being to bright, and burning his eyes. I was nice, and apologized, even though I couldn't see where the light would get out.

Bought a fresh batch of Newt food this evening…and got myself some junk. chocolate-cookie crunch tofutti. yumitty-yum! Strange to see an ingredient "cookies".

I think I'm ready for a little snack. Nigh nigh, dear journal!

9/17/02 -

Dreams of a break-in last night, and being given a patch of land a little out west to build a house on. My Sweetie was there, and there was a frog pond out back where we could sit and watch the sun go down. I'm really beginning to feel the approach of autumn... getting enthused about Halloween. I may do a diorama of the custom figures and spooky monsters.

In a column for today's National Review Online, Rod Dreher talks about litigation between an author and a critic who voiced opinions in a blog.

Highlights -

In new media, anybody with a computer and online access can say whatever they like, instantly. And when they do, they are no more protected from libel claims than the New York Times.

"Once you publish something, you're a publisher, whether you're a priest, housewife, or shareholder," says Baron. "People need to learn to curb their enthusiasm before they post."

I wonder if there'll be a spate of lawsuits over what the more catty folks say in the future?

Also on K5 - Iraq Agrees to Readmit UN Weapons Inspectors

Iraq, under intense American pressure to reaccept UN weapons inspectors, unconditionally did so late Monday, said U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Under Security Council resolutions, sanctions imposed on Iraq after its 1990 invasion of Kuwait cannot be lifted until U.N. inspectors certify that its weapons of mass destruction have been destroyed. Inspectors left the country four years ago ahead of U.S. and British air strikes to punish Iraq for not cooperating with inspections. The turnabout in Iraq, after four years of stalemate, came days after President Bush addressed the U.N. General Assembly debate and said that Iraq must comply with Security Council resolutions or face the consequences. -The Associated Press
Well, good. Hopefully this'll eliminate any need for more aggressive action.

I forgot that I synched my palm... what's in there today? Mouse over pics for minor commentary.

Alienstein. What if Dr. Frankenstein put his creation together with parts from an alien autopsy? I'm Waiting.... Death comes to us all... I only hope he's grinning and makes me smile before I go. Made during the "fire the thief" meeting.Pot-bellied bat. I don't know what inspired that one, except that I thought it'd be funny if there was a fat vampire.I forgot about this one! Two newspaper sales guys...one of whom was playing the harmonica on the street corner on the way to work. The non-player claimed that the other guy performed with Clapton on one of his albums. I see no reason to disbelieve. I wasn't hit up for money. Nothing really Halloween-ish there.

Oh yeah... I told you I had Halloween on my mind, dear journal.

More scattered T-storms all week! Off to work... until much later!

09/16/02 - Prologue, or why fonts are fun

SO DON'T BELIEVE ME! I don't care. They exist! (They do!)

And they wait! (Oh yes!) They wait! In the dark. To suck the marrow from your bones. To scoop the soft tasty parts from your skull (for dessert!)

Creatures of mist and memory...

The nightmare people.

And... they're coming, brother! they're coming...

...for you!

And only one man can stop them...

Scottobear!

Strange visitor from beyond humanity, once confined to a forgotten sacred cave by a den of mutated turkey vultures -- Mr. Scott O'Bear, heir to the mysteries of the unknown, miraculously escaped his ordeal unscathed! Purified by the experience, he exacted swift vengeance on his ghastly tormentors as Scottobear!! Since then he has wandered the earth, searching out other such abominations... and destroying them!!!

Probably not to be continued....

"Rave is nothing like disco! Disco was crappy, cheesy electronic music, ugly expensive clothes, lousy dancing, drugs up the ass and wild sex! Rave is... uh, um.. well we don't have wild sex... oh, forget it."

Played Mageknight with Dave earlier, I won two out of three games. (I won a 300 and a 200-pt, he won the final 200-point) His winning tactic was a good one... send in fliers with area effect attacks to nail me from behind, while I wasted time spinning around to get my firing arcs in line with the enemy... then sending in big muscle to finish the job. Plus, he killed off my medic just about first thing. Excellent methodology.

My way of winning is usually a static artillery, and formation movement... taking advantage of cutting off his ranged attackers by going into close combat quickly with his weaker elements. I need to download and print these out... my special abilities card doesn't list the circles. Unlimited special abilities card Dungeon special abilities card

for the record... I'm guilty of liking both disco and rave music.

Soon, the new building going up will hide the potato-chip looking amphitheatre... drat.

Wow... sleepy day. been resting off and on, trying to shake my yuckies.

too early to tell yet.

I can hardly wait until Halloween. I made a little cartoon.

Random classical dancer factoid - Your average male dancer is expected to be able to leap somewhere between four and five feet off the ground. Baryshnikov is an exception: on a good day, with a good wind, he can reach six feet. Not bad for a little fella (he stands 5'8" in his leotard feet), especially considering the world's record for the high jump, which was in the neighborhood of eight feet last time I looked.

Random Scotto factoid - I can standing jump somewhere in the neighborhood of two feet and some. (Assuming my doorknob is 3 feet from the ground.) Dang. Six feet? That’d put Mickey's Feet at my face-level.

I didn't know the Guinness book was online, until today! Neato!

Good news! The state of Washington won its first anti-spam case! Huzzah. The law here says that unsolicited email is not per se illegal, but rather is a civil violation if it fails to include a legitimate return address, has a misleading subject line, is mailed to Washington state individuals who have opted out from receiving UCE, or misuses Internet resources, like relaying through mail servers that don't allow this (even if they're technically set up to allow it). Here's the law.

Let's get that in Florida!

Danger the turtle, totally unrelated to the story at handAn eventful couple of days...I'll work my way through it.

Thursday night, [gleaned via the video camera archives] : one of the bonbon spawn, her eldest, got a phone call...about 7:30 pm. While on the phone, he walks around the back of one of the primary machines, nodding his head, and observing where items are plugged into the back. For the next 15 minutes or so he walks back and forth, periodically looking right into the camera... a nervous look on his face. After his mom left, at about 8pm, we see him come out the side door and then hear the rear door open up a few moments later. A box is placed over the camera to black out anything from being seen. (Ooh... clever! I wonder what secret agent broke in and did that while he was out on a "smoke break"?) Anyhoo, "someone" then smacked the camera, and knocked it, supposedly aiming it up... what he didn't realize is that the whole laser room was still in the field of vision... there was just less floor, and more roof. Something else that he didn't know was that two minutes or less after pulling out the hardware key, all production on that machine ground to a stop, as the data was dammed up, forbidden to pass from servers to the Xerox printers. He calls tech support, and they walk him through a checklist of repair possibilities... but he doesn't work with the computer at all, because he full well knows what caused the problem. He clocks out and goes home, since the machine will have to have Xerox come in and diagnose the "problem". [End camera 1]

Cut to Friday morning, 6am, Xerox techs come in to evaluate the problem. It takes less than a minute to discover that the dongle is missing, and exactly *when* it was pulled out last night. The only two people working that evening; both of the bonbon spawn. Older "Thief" brother, and younger "Accomplice" brother. By checking the alarm and camera logs on all the doors and possible entrances.. Nobody came or went that wasn't a child of Bonnie's. 8:30 am, when the board members tart to arrive, they look at the security tapes and security logs mentioned above. The police were called, and Bonnie and her children were telephoned, and asked to come in. Morty, one of our guys that work in the computer bank in the front with Riker has a big mouth, called and told Bonnie what was up, soon afterwards.

10am, they all arrive, and Thief is pale white, and has the hardware key with him. He returns it, and says "no harm, no foul, right?"

Wrong. That piece of hardware comes with a $15,000 licensing fee. Taking it is grand theft. A felony good for about 15 years in the state of Florida. He also cost us printer and click time from 8pm to 6am during prime printing hours, unknown costs in paying people overtime, Xerox service, and catch-up .The police grilled The three of them almost all day yesterday. Aside from theft, there's also a vandalism charge.

The Accomplice came through, totally straight with what he knew. I do believe that he had no idea something of that magnitude was going on.

Thief went through a couple of stories. "The system went down, and it was hanging off loosely. I pulled it off to look at it, and accidentally put it in my jeans and took it home. I returned it.. No harm done, right?" *BUZZ* wrong answer! The system didn't go down until it was yanked out. It doesn't hang loosely; it's screwed in with a pair of thumb-bolts. Try again... let's go to the videotape. And why exactly did you cover the camera up? Uh, I was just goofing around... I didn't think anything would happen. "Goofing around, by covering up a security camera, and taking hardware off the system, causing it to crash? Sounds like a laugh riot.

He has a wife and a child at home. What kind of idiot throws away his life for swiping a piece of hardware worth $15k?

Right now, it's unknown if accomplice and bonbon will have jobs on Monday. That has to go before the board. Thief is certainly going to be fired. The board is going to decide about pressing charges. I suspect that if he comes through with who called him, and told him to swipe that part, they'll make a deal with him to catch either Big Bird or Ex-boss in a bigger suit. (Remember, Big bird is already in trouble for stealing a $4000 piece of equipment, and selling it to ex boss.).

If the big guys can get nailed, I don't think they'll have a problem with letting the thief off with just being fired, instead of going off to jail to be anally taken regularly by his cellmate.

We'll see what Monday brings. Friday night, I tucked in early, worn out from all the Police hubbub and all the noise.
trip to the vet 09/14/02 - Newt got spooked by a dog barking at him, and he rowr'd so loudly that the dog ran away.
This morning, I took Newt to the Vet for his 6 month bordatello immunization and fecal test. I was smart, and went tootsie-roll collecting, and tossed it into a Ziploc bag for them to investigate, so he didn't need the lubricated bubble wand stuck in his bung. That's one less stress to add to his list. The immunization consisted of a few drops put in his nose, rather than a shot....he didn't mind that too much, but wasn't fond of the vet rubbing his belly and bod for unusual lumps or tumors. (He's looking good!) His weight is the same as it was six months ago, which is good.. Not getting too fat or too thin.

While standing in the front room, waiting for my ride, Newt in my arms, as sweet as can be.... in comes a guy with a mid-sized cocker spaniel. The thing is a spaz, and starts baking at Newt, loudly and excitedly, jumping about mid-waist height to me. The owner, an older lady was having trouble... she panicked a bit, probably because I told her to reel in her dog rather sharply but quietly. Newt puffs up in my arms, tail straight up and looking like it was electrified, and let out the loudest *RAWRAWRAUUUUUUUUUUUU* at the dog that I've ever heard. The dog whined sharply, tossed his tail between his legs and hid behind his owner, and began to cry like he'd been beaten with a two by four... The lady took him to a back room shortly thereafter. Dumb-bully dog. Newt continued to growl lowly until our ride arrived, a few minutes later.

A soon as we got outside the office, Newt relaxed, and got extra comfy in my arms for the ride home. Who knew he could get so fierce? Lesson... I'm quite confident that he could hold his own in a fight, or at least a chest-beating match.

After arriving home, I spent much time playing with the little banshee (who hasn't so much as given a "mer?" since) on the bed, and he seems perfectly calm and collected.

notes : picture of Danger the turtle was drawn last night... Newt-attack mer was drawn today during laundry.

Dork alert... Atari Adventure mod for quake. Holy moley, how cool is that?

If you've got the bandwidth and QuickTime, watch lots of robots... really lovely. Open it in another window and keep surfing while it loads, if you have to.

Sweet! has put up a portfolio of his work... nice!

Friday the Thirteenth really is no big whoop to me. No worries. Nothing creepy or unexpected has happened yet...the normal aches, pains, smiles and joys that've been with me all week are still here.

Of the people at work I thought knew about world affairs, none knew who I was talking about when I referenced Idi Amin(Maybe one of the worst dictators since Hitler), Pol Pot and Papa / Baby Doc... I admit that it sometimes takes me a while to catch up with current events... but these guys are big time evil, and a major element in world history. When folks can kill in the hundreds of thousands or more and not be known...how does that work? Maybe it's because I watched the news at home during the 70s and 80s, and it was current events? Looks like a job for a poll...

The Finn, Island Boy, Sappho and Kev...None had ever heard of any of 'em, save for Kev recognizing Idi Amin from an old SNL game show skit...but not knowing who he was.

On another note... I want to see the giant land squid and flying killer fish!

Random Scotto factoid - My aliases on trade wars back in the old BBS turn-based online wargames were - Rev Scotto, Tristan Thunyduway, Balder the Brave, and Boog the Ogre.

Sketches from the palm from the last day or two...I left the screen color on, instead of my usual forcing of black and white. Hover over for what was/is on my mind regarding them.

cow... Her name is Bingo, and she's much prettier in real life.Lunch on Wednesday! yum... Mimmo's makes good pizza. The Pod house! This is where pods live.... Newt planted the daisy. :)A loud-as-heck fire engine passed the bus on the way to work yesterday.... after having my ears split, it won WOD.

Catchup - 9/10/02

I forgot until I was out the door this morning that it was vote-day! So much for getting to work terribly early. I managed to avoid all the tech-trouble that many of the stations were having today.

I won my ebay auction... so I should be getting more little figures than I'll ever need, for cheapy-cheap. :) Toys! Yay! Fun!

Where’s my PM thunderstorms?

Computer-controlled music played on explosion organs. - Remember that church organ that I thought looked like it was designed to fire projectiles at the listeners?

The Large Hot Pipe Organ is the world's only MIDI controlled, propane powered explosion organ. The LHPO's pyro-acoustic explodo-rhythmations will throbbatize your earholes and dance-ify your booty and make you realize what "Industrial Music" REALLY means!

Cool Doodles by Stanislaw Lem - I especially liked the Skeleton of a Procyte

I'm going to turn in a little early... I think a good long night of rest is in order. The vertigo passed about noonish today, but I had no real appetite... I'm going to put a little fuel in the body, just for doing so, and then it's reading and playing with the Newtzilla before beddy-bye.

9/11/02

Dreamt last night that my sweetheart was well into being with child.... and that I went to work in a grocery store on the side, because it meant all the diapers and baby food were for free, plus they had a better health plan than my current gig. Strangely, I seemed to really be enjoying my work there... people were friendly, and there were lots of kids that came in because I got the manager to stock comic books on the magazine rack, and I got to do story time, a la my old bookstore days.

I really dig that I can detect when medicine "kicks in"... mild ache this morning spiraled out into some big ouches... but I did a pre-emptive strike so that by the time the tweak was at it's maximum strength, the sensation had begun to fade. I'm currently only feeling about maybe 5% of what I might be, ache wise...which is very, very nice, indeed. Compare a "just bit my tongue" to a white-hot spike in the eye.

I'm a thankful boy.

Drinking extra strong tea right now, to go with some wonderful oatmeal. (Real oatmeal kick for breakfast and late night snacks this past month).

Low grade Heroclix / Mage knight scenarios -

Scene: Make two armies, small (or use some heroes) and larger. Make the larger army about twice the number of the small, e.g.: 300 pts. and 150 pts. Set up large army to have half of play area as their stronghold. They are restricted to this area. Small army or armies set up on side(s) adjacent to stronghold. Fun to use multi dial figures in stronghold.

Goal: Win by conquering stronghold or player who gets most kill points

Scene: Create two equal armies and set up the play area. When rolling to determine who goes first, the first side also gets an additional figure that doesn't count toward the army total. The figure doesn't engage in combat or take damage but may be captured. The speed of the figure is 5 regardless of what's printed on it.

Goal: The side with the figure must make effort to keep it imprisoned. The opposing side must try to rescue the figure. A successful rescue is capturing the figure and returning it to your edge. A failed rescue is losing your army in the process of rescuing.

variant - Create two equal armies and set up the play area. When rolling to determine who goes first, the first side also gets an additional figure that doesn't count toward the army total. The figure doesn't engage in combat or take damage but may be captured.

Goal: Escort the neutral figure to the other side or the playing field. Can add that a certain radius around the figure must be free of opposing figures after a certain time. Alternately, if the neutral figure is captured the game is lost. This could further be changed that the figure could be gained back.

Scene: Think the Eastwood movie The Gauntlet. Well, get your toughest figure--use a chariot if you like, just modify the speed so you can't run past everything. Or use a couple tough figures and put them in formation, defend would be nice. Set up area with ranged attackers on either side. To keep things from being a complete bloodbath, use one (or two if you can handle it) actions each side each turn. Figures going from the start to end point don't worry about attacking or pushing, just try to survive. Healing, etc. is fair play. Some abilities would make "running the gauntlet" impossible--but fun to try against.

Goal: To get from start point to end point--across the play area. Those running the gauntlet can't stop and fight--you must take it. Add terrain to spice it up, make a maze of sorts.

Scene: Capture the Flag - With equal opposing armies, set up play as normal. You can put a flag in the middle or use one for each army. Need a circle to mark area around flag.

Goal: Win by capturing flag, either opponent's or one in center. To capture flag, defeat all opposing figures within a 6-inch diameter around flag. This area must be cleared for 3 turns.

Variants -

Situation: Use a Monopoly board. Use figures of roughly similar value, as movement tokens on board.

Rules:

  1. Move and buy property per normal Monopoly rules.

  2. When you land on property owned by another player, the players' figures must fight. Property owning player goes first then opposing player counter attacks, and fight is over. Pay your rent after slapping each other.

  3. May pay $1000, or another agreed upon amount, to heal one click. This may be done at any time. As long as the money flows, the healing grows.

  4. May use abilities that apply, may not use those that do not apply. You should be able to figure this out.

  5. Consider deal making like letting someone make free attack with no counter, paying for someone else's healing, etc.

  6. Last remaining figure or last one with money wins.

Dodgeball

Situation: Create an assortment of figures, faction, etc., doesn't matter. Helpful if they have ranged attack, if not you'll need to "create" a ranged value for figures. (Assume a 4 is my method) You'll need one action token.

Rules:

  1. Move per normal, each figure may move each turn.

  2. Choose a figure to "have the ball" first, set the action token by them.

  3. That figure moves and then may make a ranged attack on any legal target.

  4. On a roll of 2, 3, 11, or 12, the ball misses and balled figure retains action token and turn is begun again.

  5. On a hit, target figure is removed from game.

  6. On a miss, figure with action token is removed from game and action token goes to target.

  7. Last figure standing wins.

  8. For alternate, flip the hit/miss rule. Get some use out of those weak figures. Go for it, re: "ABC Blackout" or "Olie Olie Oxen Free."

Prop ideas.... Green felt for brush/woodlands, blue felt for water and blockades. also, some nifty templates

*snickers.... someone called ultroid blue did a care-were bears custom paint for mage knight. I think it looks like they're singing. Also, the village people, the packers..and a few misc.

Big things at work... looks like big bird quit the job there because he stole some equipment from our mail shop (a $4000 tabber, and who knows what else) and gave? /sold? /traded? them to our old boss, the ever-Evil Wally. The cops picked up big bird yesterday, and Wally Jr freaked out when the fuzz showed up at his place, looking for stolen property. $4000 is expensive enough to be a felony... grand theft, trafficking stolen goods... Maybe Wally will get hit with some of the poo-spray, too. I'm looking forward to seeing what the news is today when I get there.

A private moon landing... next year? That's pretty dang keeno. Private moon-landings ahoy! They're planning a three-month exploration of the big ole rock!

TransOrbital of California has become the first private company in the history of space flight to gain approval from the US authorities to explore, photograph and land on the moon.
The US State Department and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have granted it permission to send its TrailBlazer spacecraft into lunar orbit.

The launch is set for June 2003 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

From Adam Felber -

The Sunshine State is stunningly progressive in its approach to drug abuse. In Florida, if you've got a monkey on your back you're treated as a victim, not a criminal. Even if your habit drives you to theft while in court-ordered treatment, you'll be placed right back in that treatment program so that you can take another crack at "kicking." Same thing if your problem leads you to take up forging prescriptions. And if your jones gets the best of you occasionally and you're caught with, say, a sizeable rock of cocaine, well, don't worry. Governor Bush will understand. In fact, he'll say, " the road to recovery is a difficult and long journey for those afflicted with addiction." He gets it. Back to treatment you go, and it's doubtful that your repeated offenses will ever earn you more than a day or two in prison. Qualifying for this program is easy. You're entitled to it, so long as you admit you've got a problem.

And you have to be the governor's daughter, of course. Otherwise, you're headin' for the slammer.

Hmm... Why does Newt leaping into the litter box to do his duty immediately after I clean it out crack me up so much?

"Hey! This doesn't smell like *my potty*! I'd better pee, and then rooster tail a little of the sand! That’s better!" Maybe he likes adjusting the sands, a la a Zen garden... albeit with tootsie rolls after digesting.

He's been a playful little guy all morning...playing milk ring fetch like a good boy... it really makes me happy when he brings me the ring, and drops it in front of me, out of the blue. I know he digs the quality time with his mamma-pod, and I surely do, too.

Back to Newtie-play. :)

It's raining nicely, and I'm home and in a comfy place. people at work were respectful and kind, today. Happy for it.

Dinner is warming on the stove. rice, tofu, broccoli and peanut sauce.

I'm counting blessings tonight. There's a lot of 'em out there... and a few in here, too. Love, life, knowledge, the senses. Relief. Hope.

G'night, dear journal.

9/12/02
Wow... pleasantly exhausting dreams last night. I wonder what factors make some vivid, and others difficult to remember? Emotional content? Adrenaline?

Seventy-eight full-color reasons to be glad you're not in high-school any more.

They certainly seem to have more variety of industrial-distributed food, though.

Makes me miss my Speed Buggy Lunchbox.

some terrain for miniatures wargaming. Here's a use for those AOL Discs...put a small glob of thick white glue on an old CD, then pile on bits of sprue, kitty litter, gravel or sand and cool looking bits on to it. (sprue and cool stuff first, then the grit just to cover any glue, then paint.. base in black, and dry brush the colors.

Good luck this morning... I found $25 dollars in a pack of smokes on the bus. I tossed the Winstons out, and kept the money as a just reward for anti-littering.

Home early, and taking it easy. New duties at work tomorrow...plus meetings about the website. I find out exactly what the duties entail tomorrow too…but I don't imagine they're too much fun... sales and the mail shop were bleating about having to do it… and Kev offered our dept... I hope it's nothing tedious. Kev did mention that it'd only be for a little while.... that sort of softening suggests that it'll be PITA work. Hopefully, it's something I can automate programmatically.

Tonight's book... Starting fresh with Emergence: The Connected Lives of Ants, Brains, Cities, and Software by Steven Johnson, paperback edition. Tony gave it to me just yesterday. Got to dig found lit, given freely. I was interested in it last winter, but my reading queue was already quite full... glad to have it reappear.

Newt's adorable tonight...curled up in the middle of my Indian-style sitting position. Time to read some non-backlit text, enjoy purrs, the scent of nag champa, and some science. Throw in some snuggly sweetie read-dreaming too, while I'm at it.

See you later, Dear Journal.
