It’s really hazy out this morning … So late in the day for it. Seems like a cloud got lazy and decided on having a nap down here. Seeing as it’s now 11:24 am, and I’m still waiting for the 55, I suspect that I’ll be tardy for work. Here’s the bus now.

supplemental: 11:59 am
Snotty kid picking his face and muttering across from me on the bus. (picture added after)
Snotty kid... He spent most of the ride picking his acne and talking to his friend on the left about "dem bitches"
Missed the 60 by inches… It left the station right as we were pulling in. Oh well, that gave me time to swing by the ATM nearby. My pocket money had dwindled to about nil.

I added a “auto-complete typing” program to the palm and it’s working out really well so far. It seems to anticipate very quickly what I’m trying to say. Teaching it new words to add to its dictionary is simple too.

7:58 pm

off to the stop once again… Now to wait for 20 minutes by street light and watch the cars go by.

Again I suspect that had I arrived a few moments sooner, perhaps I would already be on my way home. The case or not, it’s nice to be outside and breathing the night air.

8:22 pm
On the bus. Contents include : older man sleeping drunk, blond woman popping gum, myself, Spanish migrant in a ball cap (he’s a regular), driver talking to his loved one on his cellular phone, three quiet riders behind me.

Everyone I can see looks tired. There’s a faint scent of sweat… Someone worked hard today. Two teens got on, and they’re a little rowdy.

Dreamt of being in the 80s sometime, because I was shopping for buttons to put on my book bag at a Peaches Record store. Buying little one-dollar metal circles with stuff on it like “Ernie Douglas, prototype nerd”, “an insignificant speck in a ruthless universe” and “I accept tips”. I seem to recall my footsteps walking to the beat of whatever music was playing, but I can’t remember the tune. They were still selling vinyl 45s there, before the time of CDs being popular.

Hmm… Mike-o wasn’t home last night. I’ll try him again during midday. I’m sure I can reach him on his cell.

I can talk just like oddtodd.

Self-question- Do they make full-size krackel bars anymore, outside of fundraising or are they just miniatures now? Research says…. Yes!

Does putting ice in a urinal serve some purpose, aside from “this is a good place to put ice… it’ll melt here.” I wonder if it serves as some sort of deodorizer? Makes it simpler to clean? No answer found. I’ll have to ask someone in the industry.

A little drizzly until mid-evening. 76F? A little warm, considering. Funny how it’s warmer when it rains.

Fuzzy dreams of a trip along a winding mountain road. It seemed that the trip was as fun as the destination, but I don’t recall where we were going. Woke up to Newt dropping a rubber lizard on my forehead this morning. He’s not a big one for fetching them, though…he’ll hockey it around over the floor, and then walk away when he’s done with it. He didn’t bring it back for me to toss again, but did return to bed for snuggles.

The Super Zaxxon World Record has been broken. So has he been anywhere since 1983? How will he adapt to his new world and surroundings? Will he need to be reconditioned, and slowly released into our new society, or is he doomed to live life in a special enclosed environment for his own safety?

snapshot of today

This morning, watching the news while getting ready.

Waiting for the 55

Island boy, working in engineering, trying to get the a: drive to work.

Discovered the palm cam works *very poorly* in low light.

Faxed my bro’s lawyer the doctor costs so that he can put the screws tighter into the lawsuit he’s working on. Good grief, I’ve been spoiled by insurance. $400 and more a toss for a month’s medicine! Criminy!

Some very positive prospects in the near future. I look forward to seeing the results of tomorrow’s events at work.

Poor little crab! This is a video taken in 6000 feet of water. An undersea robot is sawing a 3mm wide slit (1/10th of an inch … remember that width) in a pipeline. The pressure inside the pipeline is 0 psig, while the pressure outside is 2700 psi, or 1.3 tons per square inch. Then a crab comes along….

Palm Piccies from my birthday morning out with Danny.

Went to breakfast at Einstein’s, hung out at the newsstand for a few, bypassed the Sunday jazz brunch on the river, walked along riverwalk, went to the Museum of art, and then to the Imax (skipped the movie), had lunch at ole’ ole’ (I had cheese enchiladas… mmmm goood!), and returned home. I gave Danny the all-in-one printer on “permanent loan” as I’ve no room, and he’s needing a printer and fax.

We had a good morning, and early afternoon in all. Newt woke me up, and the palm was there to catch him at it.
Good Morning! Happy Birthday! It's Dawn! Time to get up!!

Here are some more piccies in chronological order. due to the palm cam’s nature, some are a bit fuzzy. As always, hover mouse over the pix for comments.

All small, but cut for brevity.

Happy Birthday to Me! 34 today.

Penguin dressed as me and Newtie

You’re one year older, one year wiser,
Rock ‘n roll star, king, czar, and a kaiser.
A room full of friends, a mouth full of cake,
Every present is for you and it feels pretty great.
You’re the man of the hour, the V.I.P.
You get the first slice of the p-i-e,
But first blow out the candles and make a wish.
Put a smile on, cuz it’s your birthday, bitch!

Go Scotto, it’s your birthday
Go Scotto, it’s your birthday

Groundhogs seek sex, not shadows

I did see my shadow this morning… I’m going to go out to breakfast with Danny, and probably will let him use the all-in-one printer, because I don’t have the room for it.

Thanks for christin‘s nice Ecard, and all the swell emails and lj-replies about my b’day!

From the Archives.
A year ago today – I’m 33, and a reprint of moonmama‘s nice piccie (see above), A blah birthday until the end , Daredevil summary for tarpo (with now broken image links), a lovely ending to the day.

Where does the food go? Two growing boys, can gobble up quite a load of groceries.

I’m off to pick up some more, until later, dear journal.

[update- back already, and mah cubbards are stocked to the gills.] My Veggie burgers had a free pizza-burger in each container!

sad news- Space shuttle Columbia breaks apart in flames about 203,000 feet over Texas, 16 minutes before it was supposed to touch down in Florida. All seven aboard were killed: William McCool, Rick Husband, Michael Anderson, Kalpana Chawla, David Brown, Laurel Clark and Ilan Ramon, who was Israel’s first astronaut.

Kung Hee Fat Choy… may happy times return

Happy Chinese New Year! Happy New Year!

Year of the goat / sheep! The goat is a symbol of warmth, understanding, creativity and untidiness… I’m all for that.

  • For good luck, the house should be cleaned before New Year Eve. *Whoops*
  • You should try to repay your debts by this time. *Done*
  • If you haven’t taken a shower, don’t bother. Doing so washes away your good luck. *Ok… But I’ll shower first thing tomorrow! *
  • It’s a lucky sign to hear a song bird, red-colored bird, or a swallow. *Hmm.Any cardinals or red parrots around? *
  • Do not use scissors as this may cut off your fortune. *No razors for me today! *
  • Wear red for fortune and prosperity, do not wear white.
  • The first person one meets and the first words heard are significant as to what the fortunes would be for the entire year.

While many Chinese people today may not believe in these do’s and don’ts, these traditions and customs are still practiced. These traditions and customs are kept because most families realize that it is these very traditions, whether believed or not, that provide continuity with the past and provide the family with an identity.

Fifteen day celebration…
