In the beginning …

Start Here

In the most ancient of ancient times, the planet There was meant to be a garden. The land was formed, life came forth. And all was ready for the colony of Milusia.

But alas, when the ships returned with the first colonists, an usurper had come. The planet had been seized by the Zalastons. They experimented with and manipulated the primitive life forms and created from them eleven giant creatures. These giant Orapnathons were created to defend the planet against the return of the Milusians who had deposited life there to begin with.

The purpose of the Orapnathons was to make the world unsafe for other colonists. Most of them are now dead, but their memory lingers. For example, sea serpents often seen between Nada and Ootay are said to be descended from the Orapnathon, Zygo.

Zygo was a creature from the deep in the Southern Sea. Blue and scaly he was, but difficult to see from a distance as his blue shade blended in with sea and sky. But he often appeared in the channel between the Ootay and Nada islands. He terrified sailors and the people who live on Nada still whisper his name in fear.

People built great stone heads high on a ridge overlooking the channel to frighten Zygo and keep him from their homes. If you seek people who live there, they may be able to tell you more about this creature.

Mythical Creatures 1
Yes, we still fear the appearance of Zygo, although we are no longer sure if the sightings we have are of Zygo or perhaps one of his offspring. The hermit who lives on this island .. down by the ship wreck … Wilmont is his name … may be able to tell you more.

This quest begins at the Adventure Quest clubhouse.

Clue #1 Mythical Creatures
Correct. The last eyewitness of Zygo occurred some years ago. He was making ready to attack our shores, when a giant crab climbed onto the beach and chased him. The crab followed him to Ootay beach where their battle took place. Go there to see the monument built to honor the crab. Secret Letter: O

Mythical Creatures 2
Old man at the Crab Monument:
Yes, I remember the tale of Zygo. He was surely a fiercesome beast. But, no, he was not the most terrible.
There was another sea creature, the Rorastin. This one never came on land. He had powerful arms, but only a massive tale where his legs should be But when he rose to the top of the ocean, his wailing filled the land and seas with terror. His mighty roar caused the waves to mount and the winds to blow. Where is he? Let me think! Oh.. follow the arrow to the top of the hill. There is someone there who can tell you.

Clue #2 Mythical Creatures
Correct. The Rorastin was last seen between two tiny islands north of Caldera. Go there to find out more about him. Secret letter: K

Mythical Creatures 3
When the Milusians attempted to settle on this planet, the Rorastin wreaked havoc with the wind and sea currents. This made it very difficult for the new settlers
to set up home here. The leader of the Milusian colonists was a brave man called Nemator. His daughter, Piliota, had a sweet voice. Her singing could enchant the Rorastin and put him into a peaceful trance. Piliota would sing and the colonists were able to set up camp.

Clue #3 Mythical Creatures
Correct. Two giant apes, Clabber and Boom, were also part of the Orapnathons. Find statues of them between Karuna Plaza and
Duda Bay. Secret letter: P

Mythical Creatures 4
Between the giant ape statues of Clabber, the elder twin, and Boom, his brother, you find a book bound in blue leather. On it is a combination lock.
To read the book, you must find the combination. Your only clue are the gold letters on the book: My key is found in high places around the Monkey rim. Then lower in fine print you read:
If the name begins with L, I, E,
the truth will ne’er be found in he.
But if it T, R, U begins,
then fiction fails and faction wins.

Riddle of Clabber and Boom: E
Guard Uma says:

Only the last digit is greater than 5, in fact it is greater than 7.

Clue #4 Mythical Creatures
Correct. The book tells you how the Monkey invaders of later years tamed the Giant Ape Orapnathons as guards. But you hear there was an even bigger land giant in Tyr. The remains of its descendants are in the Boneyard there. Secret letter: r

Mythical Creatures 5
These bones are the remnants of giant worms which used to burrow through the soil here. They are not part of the original 11 Orathnapods. However they are descended from the Mother Earth Worm, Halindia. She was three times as long as the longest skeleton you find here. She and her offspring made the island of Tyr absolutely uninhabitable by the original Milusians.

Clue #5 Mythical Creatures
Well done! The closest we have to remains of the next Orapnathon are the giant teeth of some similar animals.. Find the tusk to find more information. Secret letter: i

Mythical Creatures 6
The giant Zahnastodon was the only other creature who shared this island with Halindia. She ruled the underground and he ruled the surface. When the Zahanstodon was genetically engineered, six other similar but smaller animals were also created. Eventually they were moved here as well, where they procreated and died without predator. Later when the alien Tyrean race came here, they collected the tusks to adorn their buildings. OH, I think the clue fell in the moat!

Clue #6 Mythical Creatures
Correct! We have seen creatures of the land and sea, but there was also a titan of the air. Continue around the moat to find a picture of this creature. Secret letter: l (as in leisure)

Mythical Creature 6a
Dragon picture below will help you to find him. Zentinka
clue 6a

Mythical Creatures 7
The whereabouts of the dragon, Zentinka is unknown. He has not been seen for 35 years in or around this planet. We know not if he hibernates, if he is dead, or if he procreates. Time will tell.

Clue #7 Mythical Creatures
Right you are! An elder of Saja knows a tale of another of the Orapnathons … another sea creature. Find him at his home to discover more. Secret letter: e

#7 b The Orapnathon you seek is carved into an earthen mount on Caldera. See his picture below. Outlined is the horned head of Hikuau. Go to his mouth for more information.

http://trishbaker.com/there/llizard.jpg

Hikuau was the terror of the North Sea. But unlike some of the Orapnathons his allegiance was mixed. Yes, he was created and nurtured by the invading Zalastons, but his DNA originated from the Milusians. As we discovered in the North Tiki quest, Hikuau’s last act was to save the hero, Manoa from drowning.

Clue #8 Mythical Creatures
Correct. The largest of the Orapnathons were primates who lived on the island of Ootay. Find out more midway between the stone heads depicting these two brothers. Secret letter: none

The largest of the Orapnathons was the giant Perloki. He was barely larger than his brother Dlangstini. The brothers guarded the island of Ootay against invaders. The Milusians were deseperate! How could they ever settle on Ootay with such gigantic opponents walking the land.

It was the young colonist Abterran who came up with the solution … pit the brothers against each other! Abterran suggested they throw spears at Perloki and make it appear that it was the work of Dlangstini. The gigantic twins fought until Dlangstini was slain. Then Perloki died of grief.

Right you are. Walk to the top of the hill behind this place. On the mesa above, find out about the next group of creatures from the mythology of There! Secret letter: i

Mythical Creatures 9b
One by one the Orapnathons were defeated or driven away. The Milusians set up their colony, but the intrusion of the Zalastons could not be overcome entirely. Many of the creatures who developed on the planet were hybrids of the two races and of the genetic manipulation of the Zalastons.

The Milusians were never to have the planet to themselves. Soon a group of smaller creatures developed with unusual characteristics. The entire class of these creatures, There’s Little People so to speak, are known as the Mnidi. Below is a picture of one of them. Find this picture to find out more about these creatures.

http://trishbaker.com/there/lionpillar.jpg

Mythical Creatures 10
The fiercest of the Mnidi is this one … Jamalaika. His picture here shows him with a sort of crown, indicating that his race were like kings of the Mnidi. They were champions of organization, especially when it came to strategies of conflict. When the need arose, they were the ultimate warriors of their time.

Right! Find Benefar near the Leeway cafe to learn about another of the Mnidi. Secret letter: none

Mythical Creatures 11
The old man Benefar speaks.

Look at this banner above me to see a picture of the gullman, Orapo. He is small, but his great power is his control of the gulls. They can see great distances for him and bring him information from the four corners of the world. He also sends the gulls to deliver his messages. He is the eyes and ears and sometimes the tongue of the Mnidi. You might call him the communication expert.

correct! Another of the Mnidi was fasinated by birds. Find his likeness on an old mill in the desert. Secret letter: t

12

Forena, one of the Mnidi, was also a bird man. You can see his portrait on the pennants at this mill. But unlike Orapo, Forena could actually transform himself into a bird. This enabled him to live among the pure Milusians without being detected. In the Milusian legends, Forena was blamed when small valuable objects came up missing. He was also known as the trickster who sometimes hid things and then replaced them where the hunter had already looked for them.

Correct. Jump off the tower and walk down tot he sea to find a picture of the next Mnidi in the search. secret letter: a

See the drawing of the next Mnidi below. Find him for your next clue.

http://trishbaker.com/there/guyelf.jpg

Mythical Creatures 13
Larriata is the Mnidi blamed for interfering in affairs of the heart. He is overly interested in the romances of the Milusians from the past and also in the citizens of the present. He blows a lavendar powder on his victims to make them fall in love. If he is in a mischievous mood, he drops herbs from the secluded Ilonian meadows into tea to make the drinker suspicious and jealous. Milusians used to wear a tortoise shell comb in their hair as a charm to counteract the tricks of Larriata.

Clue 13: Mythical Creatures
Excellent. Now climb the great Nene volcano and search it’s rim for the next creature. This one loves high places. Secret letter: none

Mythical Creatures 14
The old man patroling the volcano rim tells you of a 3rd group of creatures who preferred animal form. Collectively, these creatures were knonw as Donista. He tells you of one of them, the Lorbainia. The Lorbainia had the form of a great feathered serpent with huge wings. No, not the dragon! These creatures were not the genetically engineered Orapnathons, but rather one of the offspring races formed of Milusian and Orapnathon DNA. The builders in There Egypt remembered this creature also, and they painted his wings as an adornment in the ceiling of their tomb.

Go to the tomb in Egypt and find the painting of the wings of the Lorbainian. What color are the talons shown in the painting. (cheated, and guessed blue)

Correct: Find the scroll on the other side of the stone tower. It will show you another of the Donista. Secret Letter: Z

Scroll and clue card 14 are on the other side of the stone tower. Do not leave this post before you read them and answer the clue card question.

The next of the Donista is a creature with two forms. His portrait is in many places around the island, but you should seek the place where the portrait below is shown.

NOTE: for some bizarre reason the colors on the picture below are not accurate. The building in the background is red/yellow.
http://trishbaker.com/there/transform1.jpg

Mythical Creatures 15
The Dualabisa has two forms. See the link below.
http://trishbaker.com/there/transfowl.jpg
http://trishbaker.com/there/transfpoly.jpg
The Dualabisa has acess to air, land, and sea. He has incredibly good night vision, but is not as efficient a hunter during the day. He is found in most areas of the Tiki isles, but never in the desert. Sadly, since owls like to eat frogs, these creatures are one of their own predators.

Clue 15: Mythical Creatures
Right! Now go to the desert .. the the old city where flying things may be found to learn more of the Donista. Secret letter: t

Desert? I assume that means this island-caldera
