6623 – out of the bad, comes some good.

I think it’s super cute when Newt sleeps on his back. I love to see his paws out like arms.

Well, CS is done. It’s too bad, but just as well… he wasn’t being utilized where he could do the most good, and was probably costing the company too much as a part timer. I think that I’d overheard he was getting $25 an hour… maybe a bit much for what he was assigned to do in the long run. The biggest peeves I had with him were that he seemed to blame everyone but himself for being helpless, when he set up overly arcane or downright broken systems of maintenance. He was frustrated with me when I couldn’t be bothered to fix his mismanagement of the tape backup system, and asked him to adjust it accordingly. (to send me one email as notification, rather than three an hour over the weekend.) He was more tech, and never thought to write for the laymen at the office… 90% of the folks there have only the most cursory usage ability, so telling them to “just unc onto the network and transfer it across the reserve drive” might make sense to me, it sure as heck would boggle everyone else int he building. between that and some fundamental socail issues, it was really only a matter of time.

Anyhow, he’s gone now… I’m sure he’ll find another place to land, but unless it’s in a lab somewhere, away from most civilians, he will always have trouble in his field. He’d mentioned something about going back to school in August.. I hope that he finds something that’s more to his liking, and profitable.

In good news, CB is now part of the team. Having a graphic designer is something that’s been long overdue. I look forward to turning over all publishing and print markup over… and never seeing it again, if it can be helped. It already looks like this one will play better with others than some of our other recent additions, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
