After work today, I’m going to go out and about. Not sure where, not sure how, but I’ll see something groovy as a result. Then I’ll come home and hug ol’ Newt. I brushed his teeth yesterday, and he just sat and took it like a champ. I’ll have to bring him home a fun new toy… maybe a big honkin’ cardboard box to sharpen his teeth on.
I’m a total entertainment / multimedia / sensory I/O cyborg. I have a Cell-phone, wifi pda (with mp3 player, doodling proggie and web browser), digicam, GPS, Laptop (wifi and has a DVD player…), and a TENS unit. Hooray for rechargeable batteries! I won’t even go into the Solar-powered rechargeable stuff. Oh,ok, I will. am/fm/sw radio, charges in the sun, and also runs on wind-up power. same goes for an awesome little waterproof LED flashlight.
Currently, the fave gizmo is the pda, as it’s on hand at all times, and is very useful. I only carry the cell phone and pda all of the time. Digicam about 20% of the time, the rest are usually on planned excursions, if they ever leave the house at all.
I’m glad I have Red-Furred Libras to make me smile and bring joy to my heart. I wish I could take Newt on more walkabouts, but a leash just makes him turn into a mooshy orange cat-shaped beanbag. The harness just de-bones him.

Oh, forgot to mention. I quite liked that there was a character named “Mongo” in Shrek 2.
Arms. I could mess with this for ages. (But then, I’m easily entertained.) Other cool stuff in an open directory. Pushy also gives me some perverse pleasure.
If I don’t find a condo in the next month, I think I’ll relocate to another place as a rental in the meantime. It’s practically summer, and the rates will be quite low.
I got a call yesterday and it said that one of the children was being treated medically for “Oppositional Defiant Disorder“… I didn’t know that could be treated with drugs. Do the drugs make someone more obedient, and pliable? I wonder how that would work in an army or other sort of conditioned behavior environment, like prison.
I also suspect that this is something that will be over-labeled and tried fro use on regular kids that are just being bratty, rather than ones with actual mental disorders.
Some almost surreal photos of an abandoned man-made island and other places. The lack of people and the ruined buildings give a nearly post-apocalyptic feel.
“Off the westernmost coast of Japan, is an island called “Gunkanjima” that is hardly known even to the Japanese. Long ago, the island was nothing more than a small reef. Then in 1810, the chance discovery of coal drastically changed the fate of this reef. As reclamation began, people came to live here, and through coal mining the reef started to expand continuously. Before long, the reef had grown into an artificial island of one kilometer (three quarters of a mile) in perimeter, with a population of 5300. Eventually, the mines faced an end, and in 1974 the world’s once most densely populated island become totally deserted. The island, after all its inhabitants departed leaving behind their belongings, became an empty shell of a city where all its people disappeared overnight, as if by some mysterious act of God.”
