Going out to look at more condos this afternoon. There are one or two that look very promising. I only hope nobody else swoops in on them, if I dig ’em! In Hollywood, West of ’95.

I see City of Heroes has 3 servers now.

I’m thinking about adding a new super… some big tanker named “The Friendly Manatee”

Doodling on the palm yesterday at lunch… thinking idly about creatures nearby. Played in monochrome, and kept it “screen color” rather than black and white.

6588 – Manatee Escaped Tracking

via the Miami Herald

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/local/8379590.htm?1c

Be on the lookout for Buttons, a 755-pound juvenile male thought to be lurking in the waters of Biscayne Bay or the Florida Keys.

His distinguishing marks: the whitish letters “Y 2” branded on his back, between his flippers, and also behind his paddle. Authorities believe he may be headed for Key Largo, his last known address.

Buttons is not a suspected offender but a young manatee released into the wild early last month after 2 ½ years of “rehabilitation” at the Miami Seaquarium. He was the youngest manatee ever rescued, researchers say.

Now, they are worried about his whereabouts. read more, and a picture

Religious revelations about work.

Rhode Island is an Ex-Scientologist who still believes in the doctrine she got while in the organization, and is the standard “Christian-lite”. Believes that the position of the planets causes assorted unusual human behavior.

ADP is a conservative Christian, who believes that Astrology is a form of Idolatry, and that none of her three daughters will ever get into any real trouble, simply because they’re regular churchgoers.

CS claims to be a complete Atheist, and I have no reason to doubt that’s what he believes.

Bean-Counter and LD are Reformed Jews, both are very laid back, not broadcasting of faith, but did take Passover off.

MM is a liberal Muslim. (Still conservative enough to have her husband chosen for her, once she completes university.)

I don’t know where VS or the Big Kahuna stand. I suspect the fairly secular non-churchgoing standard, but you never know. I imagine it’ll be interesting no matter what I find out.

What people believe is a part of who they are…that’s why folks who claim one thing, yet believe another come across as fairly heinous to me, I think. Paying lip service to play a form of debate game, be part of a clique, or toady to another has such a vulgar feel. I’m not saying that anyone in the workplace is disingenuous at all… just rolling with thoughts. and those thought will have to be continued later in writing, for I have to launch.

Until later, dear journal.

State police have charged a 15-year-old Latrobe girl with child pornography for taking photos of herself and posting them on the Internet. Police said the girl, whose identity they withheld, photographed herself in various states of undress and performing a variety of sexual acts. She then sent the photos to people she met in chat rooms.

She has been charged with sexual abuse of children, possession of child pornography and dissemination of child pornography.

I wonder if she’ll be listed in the sexual offender logs, and be required to register her location whenever she moves, now?

LSD use is way down in recent years, according to arrest records, hospital records, and surveys with high schoolers. Slate looked into it, and came up with two reasons why. First and foremost, the DEA busted a couple of guys in rural Kansas back in 2000, who supplied 95 percent of the country’s acid. The other reason is the breakup of the Grateful Dead.

“The LSD market took an earlier blow in 1995, when Grateful Dead front man Jerry Garcia died and the band stopped touring. For 30 years, Dead tours were essential in keeping many LSD users and dealers connected, a correlation confirmed by the DEA in a divisional field assessment from the mid-’90s. The spring following Garcia’s death (the season the MTF surveys are administered), annual LSD use among 12th-graders peaked at 8.8 percent and began their slide. Phish picked up part of the Dead’s fan base—and presumably vestiges of the LSD delivery system. At the end of 2000, Phish stopped touring as well, and perhaps not coincidentally, the MTF numbers for LSD began to plummet.”

6585 Biter (not bitter) things, stinky books, and so on

I went to read a book I’d lent to my brother and he’d returned to me about a year ago…once I opened the pages, the thick, but stale stink of cigarette smoke filled my nose, and possibly the rest of the room. He must’ve read the entire thing while chain-smoking… the scent was incredibly horrid. I don’t mind a little cig smoke, but this was something else. It amazed me that the tome managed to hang on so tightly to that aura … I had to close the book and put it back on the shelf. I find myself wondering if it’ll smell that way forever, until it’s aired out somehow. If an archaeologist found it in a hundred years and opened it up, would it still blast that scent in a billowing cloud of century-old particles?

The book was Great American Ghost Stories, by the way.

GrayPumpkin (Who will be in town with Katt starting Wednesday) reminded me of The Surrealist Compliment GeneratorYour face is like an imperfectly shaven tennis ball. And yes… in some ways, it is. However “The ocean’s foam matches the froth of hair streaming through your lips.” is a bit much.

6584 Nice day out

Synced from the palm –

VS had a lunch meeting, so I dined alone today… wandered over to the Denny’s next door in a semi-stupor. I was rather drowsy and semi jet-laggy just as a result of all the assorted Nevada / Michigan, and now Ohio duties I’ve got to keep track of. My first visit inside that Denny’s… it seems wrong to eat at a place like that during normal daylight hours.

My mindset was that I was having an out of body experience, though I was still in my body. I was sort of vegging out… there was a feeling as if my life essence was inside me, but sort of swirling around like smoke, and not flowing through my veins and filling the flesh-vessel properly. My foot-stuff was in my liver, eyes in my knees, and so on. Some sort of mental stun. I was communicating fin, but there was a lack of focus… a fuzziness around the edges.

Happy Day! A shiny Maryland Quarter in my change! A good omen, and it served as a lens to bring my thoughts into focus and a spring into my step.

6582 I have chafed skin where my wings should be

Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o

Rubbed against something the wrong way during the night or something…the area of my back near the shoulder blades has a pesky itch that could only be purged by a nice scalding shower.

It has me wondering what would come through that spot on my skin.. wings? How huge a span would I need to get off of the ground? I figure it’d have to be at least 45 feet or something… I’m over 6 feet tall and my bones are hardly hollow.

Somehow, I’d be more likely to expect Zim/Otto Octavious-style manipulators and extensor-legs.

It’s going to be tricky, avoiding all the chocolate next week.

Doing my annual viewing of the Ten Commandments, some of the best scenes (snake-staff, for one) were interrupted by news of Miami fires, possibly deliberately set. I hope no one was hurt, or lost homes as a result of those. I really think that they could’ve picked a better-named spokeswoman for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue than Vicki Burns. There was a haze off in the distance, but I couldn’t smell smoke from here.

Back to the movie… When I was a boy, I thought that the Hebrews leaving behind Moses should have had elephants, for some reason. Horses in Egypt always struck me as odd; I figured that they’d just use camels for everything, or oxen to pull the bigger things. I wonder now what camel meat tastes like… man eats ox all the time, and horse now and then… is camel considered a domestic food?

6581 heh… “Girls gone mild”

Hm. A pleasant change this year was that nobody alerted me last night of the Daylight Savings Time switchover… all of my devices except for the TV and caller ID switch automatically. (Correction, Caller ID switched with my first phone call of the day.) This Spring, Daylight Savings time changes and takes place 45 different times around the world. Here’s what time it is in assorted regions.

Passover / Easter coming next week. I wonder how that’ll affect the folks on call? More or less busy?

Hm…interesting review of Ft. Lauderdale in the Sun Sentinel… Not so Rowdy Spring Break Continue reading 6581 heh… “Girls gone mild”

6579 recap, and then out for a walk.

Hellboy was fun, though I think that they may’ve included *too much* stuff from the assorted comics for one movie. Abe Sapien seemed especially well done, and the movie’s weaknesses are to be expected of any superhero movie. (Strange, but appropriate to hear Frasier’s Brother Nile’s voice coming from a gill-man.)

City of Heroes is fun, Le Gernouille (Leapfrog was taken) is hopping around fighting crime nicely.
