Sick as a very sick dog. Got as far as the Metro station, and turned around and went home as I started hacking like a plague victim. BHK spun me around and home we went. Coughing…
9582 – Thursday
Back to work today – Still plenty sick, but I need to get things taken care of, and I’m not dying or anything.
Snow falling as I hopped aboard the train – and it stuck to the ground, crunching underfoot as I walked the last bit from the bus to the office door. It stuck until about midday. It’s about 14 degrees tonight, got up to 32 with the sun out.
Confirmation on Feb 2 off – looks like I’m going to see Punxy Phil after all! Also got the 19th off, so nice long weekend – 20th is off for all in dc – inauguration traffic nightmare averted!
Christmas Tree is outside, drying by the fire pit. I suspect we’ll use it to heat the ring, or cover it in suet and feed the little birdies. We still have fairy lights on the gutter of the house, but they are unlit – probably will come down this weekend.
BHK and I have been listening to old Time radio on XM – She seemed to really enjoy Lucy Ball in "my favorite Husband" on the ride home.
Picked up $4 worth of scratch offs of our weekly gambling habit – won $6! a $2 profit quickly absorbed by her craving for slim jims.

Still feeling gut-lousy – went to the dentist for a followup. Dreamt unhappily that I was lost in the mall, BHK took off in the Love cube, and I had to climb a giant couch to make it outside. BHK had a nightmare about me power-washing the kitchen, and her in it, too.
Had a calzone – not sure if it helped or not, but it’s the first really palpable food substance in days.
Started reading The 13 and 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear about 100 pages in, and I’m enjoying it quite a bit. It has a Munchausen vibe to it that I dig.

9579 – Tuesday
Beware the 13th!
Sick as a very sick dog. Got as far as the Metro station, and turned around and went home as I started hacking like a plague victim. BHK spun me around and home we went. Coughing due to infection blended with poor lungs in the bitter cold and firewood smoke, I think.
Slept most of the day. Ate some noodle soup, saltines, and a lot of ginger ale.
Eyes too tired to read – drained the Tivo remaining Dr. Who episodes. I liked the evil "shadow monster in the library planet" episode – fun, goofy, but spooky and sad, too.
Newton, Pye and BHK are all excellent caretakers while I’m a big sick baby.

Made tentative plans to get my Maryland drivers license next Saturday, as they’re open from 830 to noon, and I don’t need to get my allergy shots.
Following Saturday will be allergy shots, BHK teeth cleaning and my Crown checked. I still think that there’s an infection there.
It was cold today mid 20’s, but felt cooler, probably due to the bitter wind. Gray, overcast, but no rain or snow… just overcast. I am thankful for my gloves and neck gaiter today… I think I heard my shadow crack when I stepped on it on the way home. All standing water (puddle-sized or less, anyhow) was covered with ice.
Watched Superstars of Dance tonight – A more cynical person might say that a more stereotypical collection of nationalities could not be found outside of a minstrel show. I was entertained, mostly by the Mr. Checkov-esque Russian Judge, who talked about Russian president and Russian drinking etc, etc. Yakov Smirnoff would blush.
BHK is to be commended for not killing me during my snarky commentary, filled with terrible Russian, Irish, and Australian accents.
