Sweet little gray #shark #ninja (with white, black and red paint details, and spiffy yellow weapons) at spymonkeycreations.com tonight at 6pm PST!

Look at that sharky little mask! 4 different heads, 2 different torsos and alternate gloves and boots!

Blanks will also be available, and a small number mystery figure grab bags, too! Glad to see more #battletribes in the new year – amongst my favorite #glyos toymakers.

They look a little like #powerrangersputty to me, too.

Look at this little girl! I don’t generally collect transformers, but one that turns into a dinosaur skeleton, is super poseable and is on a scale with my 3.75″ stuff… well, come on.

Transformer Vertebreak appeared in my sweet stack of Christmas gifts this year after Mrs saw me adoring her on @nistuff ‘s YouTube channel (follow him for cool toys and etc. Seriously. He’s an entertaining, neato dude.)

Very neat head, tail and ankle articulation. Good for attacking that little Ben Grimm heroclix shown earlier, disturbing a glyos goliath, or acting as a statue in a tiny museum diorama.

The transformation is easy and pretty drastic. I would never have thought as a kid that you could turn a robot into a pretty realistic bone dinosaur.

The name Vertebreak is pretty horrific, the more I think about it.

I wouldn’t mind getting other fossil-bots if they are even half as good as this design.

Return to White Plume Mountain

The shattered ruins of the “inverted ziggurat” below White Plume Mountain, littered with the moldering bones of creatures once bound within glass enclosures, slain by a party of adventurers many years ago  (Wayne Reynolds, Return to White Plume Mountain, TSR, 1999, after David Sutherland’s drawing of the intact room from the original 1979 AD&D module S2)

The cursed ruins of Castle Mukos — Who knows what lies within?  (it’s meenlocks, lots of meenlocks).  This is one of the locations first mentioned as a little detail on Erol Otus’ 1980 map from the original S2: White Plume Mountain, illustrated years later by Wayne Reynolds in Return to White Plume Mountain, TSR, 1999.

Dead Gnoll’s Eyesocket

“White Plume Mountain is located in the northeastern part of the Shield Lands, near the Bandit Kingdoms and The Great Rift.”  (Erol Otus, AD&D module S2, 1980 and later printings)  Dead Gnoll’s Eyesocket is a small cave, the only shelter available in the wilderness.  The other locations are not described and can serve as homebrew plot hooks, though they did appear in much later publications.

I really, really like the Portal games. Great gameplay, writing, replay value.

Portal was first published on October 10, 2007. (4843 days ago. )

Portal 2, possibly the perfect sequel, arrived on April 18, 2011, nearly a decade ago. (3557 days)

The covid lockdown for me is 305 days from March 13, 2020.

In a perfect world, we would have at least 11.662 “Portal 2 – quality” games by now, or maybe 15.887 “Portal quality” games since it first arrived in the orange box.

Let’s see…games that have caught my eyeballs and brain over the last 13 years, generally the full pack/GOTY editions, after patches fixed the janky aspects of most games

Can I pull 13 out of my brain?

Fallout (incl f3, f4, nv, skyrim)
FTL
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Red Dead Redemption and RDR2
Minecraft
Little Big Planet
Plants vs Zombies
Far Cry series 3+
Grand Theft Auto:V
Spelunky
Marvel’s Spider-man
Animal Crossing New Horizons

Not too bad! Some of those games I could (and have) played for hundreds of hours. I would say that of those Fallout and Minecraft have held my interest the most, but Xcom and Skyrim come close. Are any of them as “perfect” as Portal? I don’t know. For me, I have had a lot of fun with games over the years. If I were to reach back to before Portal…. I could probably get at least a solid early entry going back to my first introduction to them with the Atari or Odyssey.

To whom it may concern – I pose this question – what are some of your favorite games that have come out since Portal? What is a game you would happily come back to even now?

This entire post brought by my playlist’s current music – Still Alive (video game version)

Follow up to yesterday, one of the sources to my confusion. Awesome Andy, (the Mad Thinker’s Awesome Android… not to be confused with the Super-Adaptoid) in all his putty-colored glory has four digits but only three toes, as opposed to Thing having four toes. Also, Andy has a head like a giant grey s’more.

Trivia: Awesome Andy is a New York Mets fan, Ben Grimm prefers the Yankees.

So, here’s the Thing.

*B’dum-tish*

Found cleaning up my Christmas train set. I always forget he has four toes… I always assume he has a four-digited hand (including thumb) and only three toes for some weird reason. This little figure shows me otherwise.

I used to love playing mage knight, and that drifted into heroclix, and then they turned into cool almost HO scale train terrain. I have a bunch of these figures from different genres in the same scale as d&d minis… horror with fantasy, steampunk, old west, and superheroes, natch.

Ben Grimm is a longtime favorite character of mine, and despite the derpy face and dandruffy paint job this particular sculpt is showing off, he generally hung out under the christmas tree, protecting the toy train from wintery villains like Wendigo, Mr freeze and Jack frost.

Also orcs as a Dwarf repainted as Santa’s extra burly, sometime one-eyed army of hammer and axe wielding toymakers.

#Swampwalk quarantine isolation day 304

Cold and moist but not freezing at 36F #tardigrade #fingerpuppet did not mind the weather at all but I was feeling it in my leg, hip and lower back pretty vividly.

#bogsafari count was very low. I spotted some squirrel nests throughout my walk and a weird beagle at the end of the street before I entered the swamp proper. Neighborhood kitties were rightfully (hopefully) indoors and out of sight.

Day was so gray that the sky and trees above looked totally monochrome. Bleak and quiet, but I found that to be pretty peaceful.

Had a brief, properly socially distant, talk with one of my neighbors, and found him to be further left than I had previously thought. (Seemingly center-left rather than center-right like his mrs) He is a bit of a pessimist about things right now, and I can understand the viewpoint. I am leaning to hopeful pessimist myself these days. (Hope for the best, expect quite a bit less than the best.) We both agreed that Carter was the president we would both like most to be the moral compass of those we have had in memory, for example.
