I slept very well last night… Hit the sack fairly early after reading. Thick, deep, Russian sleep. The sort of snooze I think I’d get if I was put into one of those cocoons for sublight space travel.

Women in distress meeting today at 2. I’m going to sit down with them, work out what they want and figure out pricing. (I hate that part. Pricing charities is hard for me.)

This might be a continuing gig for me… Lots of little one shots because they don’t want a full-time guy. Either way, it gives a little pocket change and is for a good cause… I’m always nervous meeting some of the ladies there, though. A few are just so damaged…I have to walk on eggshells. I can’t sound too sympathetic “what would you know?” or be too cool “Like you care!”. The best bet in that situation is to keep quiet, and wait for one of her friends to shift the social gears back into a safe-zone. It’s a variant on office politics that has never been a good time. I can understand helping these folks out, but placing them in the “client communications” side makes more sense than tossing them in the business end.

I’m thinking it’ll just be more form design and minor db programming.

The burglar struck at the home of Kath Tozer in Penzance and ignored other valuables as he took the Kodak camera case and fled. The case belonged to a state-of-the-art digital camera, but Mrs Tozer, 70, uses it to keep her travelling supply of colostomy bags.

I only wish that he’d gotten the used ones.

What’ve you got?

Realization from today’s walkies. I saw a pair of Indian women walking, one had a child on her arm, and it looked like they were heading off to the grocer…something about seeing them made me happy, set a lot of mental gears in motion. Culture, maternity, exotic fabrics and the like. Discursive thoughts reorganized into a few ideas.

I need to do research on prayer wheels. I think it’d be interesting to maybe paint images on the side of a hard disk, and have it spiritually active every time it spins from data beind read and written. Alternately, maybe paint on the top of music CDs… would those work in the Tibetan faith? Now that I think of it… could you put it on any wheels, or is that bad for some idea? Car Tires, ceiling fans, merry-go-rounds, Ferris Wheels? I wonder if this has even been done before. I imagine that if it’s not counter to the beliefs, most likely so.

In Newtie News: He took his meds ok, and has a competitor for “Cute fuzzball at work”… a baby Golden named Dexter. I’m not as free to bring Newtie in now, because Dex has Dibs (Dex is Kev’s poochie. However, Once Dex is done being, he won’t be coming in any more). I get to babysit Dex today whenn Kev goes into his meetings… added bonus, I don’t have to go to the meetings! 🙂

Mornings, it is… must wait for the Yellow Face to show for walkings, I must. It burns us. Yess. For now I stay in my dank cave and guards my precious.

I thought time was only supposed to fly when was having fun? I’m here at work two hours already, and I don’t know where it went. I think I’m going to start taking public transit into work in the morning, at least when it’s not raining… at least until I remember why I fell out of the habit. I need to pick up a new bus pass this weekend, anyhow.

Here’s why I have a “I’ll believe it when I see it” attitude about coming software. Especially Peekabooty and AI.

Things happening over the next 30 days, barring a bad change of events, in semi-chronological order –

1. Get a digital Camera (Belated Christmas Prezzie for self)
2. Get a nice beach cruiser bicycle (Birthday Prezzie for self)
3. Get a week off for vacation
4. Finish Big Brain’s repairs (dual monitor, internet, and backup)
5. Reactivate 24/7 Newtcam
6. Troll for some new contracting gigs
7. Get Back with WID, and JenJen and see if there’s anything else I can do there.
8. Take a more recent picture of myself and Derek together (and get a pic of his tattoo)
9. Celebrate my Birthday, and wish Robb a happy one, too. (It’s the same day)

I want to go home, get under the covers, snuggle and nap. *right now*
