Day 20,118 Relaxing and binge-watching “Ugliest House in America” (note, season 2, ep 6 finale is not on Hulu for some reason, but it is on max without commercials) and we are enjoying it. There seem to be a few themes that I disagree with, but I’m not a decoration professional. Painting brick face black seems to be the new “French tuck” for this show, i.e. the fallback without a lot of thought going into the result. Day 20,115 First day of physical therapy, my guide (trainer? Nurse?) Was a guy named Jake and he had arms like a blacksmith. Very good at teaching safety and fundamentals, I have homework before I go back next week. Pearl was very happy when I got home, she’s not used to me taking off right after giving her breakfast. When I finally sat down on the couch after my shower, she ran up my lap and gave a hearty pile of headbutted and was very appreciative of ear rubs. Well, winter has certainly taken a bit of a toll…I certainly indulged and now with march here, it’s time to work off some of the extra padding I’ve gained over halloween/tg/xmas/birthday season.
Physical therapy is a good start, but it is time to get on my regimen of daily exercise and cut down on the excess munchies. Already cut out one bad habit of late night snacks.
I’ve exaggerated more than a little bit in my doodle, thank goodness, but it is how I feel today. Good inspiration to do something and have a reminder to act on it.

Was roaming out this morning, and the weather was lovely, practically balmy. Only human out there was caught up with fly fishing, and he seemed to be having a wonderful time, alongside the Canadian geese and mallard ducks.
The rain had just stopped and it had that pleasant ozone and dirt scent, and I got a fair amount of walking in, though I am paying for it now, even though I was trying to keep it pretty light.

@maximillian_deersteak got us a rice cooker, so for the first use, I am making teriyaki stir fry with broccoli, carrots, pseudo-chicken strips and a little sesame. I’ll know in about a half hour if the brown rice turned out ok.
(If not, i think we have some nuke in a bag minute rice to save the day. )

Roamed in the forest of memories a lot today while I did chores and ran errands. Funny how much I remember, and how much that I don’t. I can still envision some the faces of folks I haven’t seen in years, the laughter of some, the distinct scent of places, what the ridge on Newton’s head between his ears would feel like when I gave him a little lovey kitty rub… and then there are huge gaps of time that are just a blank. I can’t remember certain teacher’s names or faces, short of the most basic details. I’m sure some things have completely evaporated, like my English teacher in the tenth grade. I read a ton of books that year, and I recall the plots and character names, but the teacher is a total void.
I wonder if talking to folks I knew both then and now, if they would spark even a little recall? My old gaming groups… I remember those that I hung out with for years, but then there are others that I remember only the name of , like Tony and Elaine who are just bookmarks for events. I don’t even remember any of Elaine’s characters, and I only remember Tony’s Silver Hammer guy because the name has a Beatles hook.
I remember a only a couple of things from the first 10 years of life, more from the second, and a bit more from the third, fourth and fifth, though some things blur and are colored by time and brain.
I’m glad that I have a lot more photos and am able to reach out more through social media now, but some things are gone forever. I don’t know if many photos from my teenage years exist…thankfully I have some from my 20s and onward, and I’ve inherited a few from when I was little from family and friends sharing. I’d like to have a photo of my brother and some of my pals from every year… I think kids these days are really fortunate that every phone has a camera now, and that everyone has a phone. (However much that might be a double edged sword otherwise)
I’m glad that I’ve kept a journal online with public and private entries that I can go back to every now and then, but that really only starts in 1998. I’ve got paper notebooks from earlier, but not a lot of photos.
