6646 busy bee day.

Today’s been quite the hectic one for missing kids… fortunately, the majority of them have been recovered right away. (one 15 year old who got into an argument with his grandparents is still out and about, but from the description given, he’s not going to be messed with, or a danger to himself or others.)

Big Kahuna was kind enough to take call from 4:30-9pm, giving me at least a little window of freedom this weekend. I celebrated by going to cheeburger cheeburger, getting a chocolate malted and a grilled portobello sammich, no fries, and enjoying a little fresh air.

The pleasure was welcome, because once I got home, I had another couple of calls smack me all at once, including 3 missing kids with a babysitter in Tombs County Georgia… those folks are sweet as pie, but the accent is *very thick* and I had trouble with the dispatcher girl’s descriptions. While on the phone with her, a Hialeah call came in., so i got to multitask as best I could. Not too bad, but it was moderately stressful at the time. I don’t think ADP could’ve handled it at all, though MA would have dealt with it well enough, I think. I plopped into the website and made a few adjustments for time constraints that I think will make working the system even more automated than it already is.

People are still asking me questions about rules regarding inmate visits from entries I made nearly four years ago (back when Suzy was put in the clink). Since that person was asking from Santa Clara, CA, I could only give a limited answer about Broward, Florida.

Disneyland photo tour from the 50s and 60s. I’m glad that the parks went to all-day passes, rather than Lettered tickets.

Hmm.. ravenblack changed the way links work in the vampire game… I’m glad my daughter managed to help me get to thievery 3 before that point!

Best Bumper sticker seen lately :Support Mental health or I'll kill you!

In my mind, it’s recited with a emphasis on the *Ahhl KEEL JOO*

Friday was mostly nice. Spent a chunk of the afternoon working with VS and CB, while the hen party took place in CC’s office.

I got a 3:30 am call from Comanche County, (Oklahoma), thus the early morning entry.

MadTV on in the background… Robert Smith sounds as good as he ever did, but spinning around to look, age has taken a bit of a toll on him. Now I know what Jerry Garcia would look like if you shaved and gothificated him.

Too much spirit kills sorcerer

A Sri Lankan magician killed himself during a black magic ritual to harness evil forces after he was overwhelmed by the spirits he had drunk, rather than those he was trying to cast spells on, a press report said today.

The 71-year-old man had used his full force to dash a coconut on the ground as part of the ritual on behalf of a customer, but lost his balance and ended up hooked on the trident, a weapon of Hindu gods, the Sinhalese-language Lankadeepa said.

The paper quoted the victim’s son as saying he had been drunk at the time.

Doctors said his death last week was due to excessive bleeding and shock.

You know, dear journal, things like this make me happy that I was born in 1969. Honestly, would the draft work, these days? Wouldn’t the *majority* of people come up 4F? (At least for being overweight, or on some sort of medicine.. isn’t everyone on one sort of medical track or another, these days?)

Times have changed a lot since the last draft. Or are we just more out of shape?

ldy pointed out in the coloringbook community – Celestial Seasonings Coloring Book! How nifty! if anyone colors any of ’em, please let me see!

It seems that you can get to my LJ website via – http://evilurl.com/lickboobdie How Naughty! I wonder how long that’ll last?Site Meter

6638 Happy Cinco De Mayo! Congratulations to the Eocene Heart Urchin!

TO celebrate, I will type whatever comes to mind, as fragmented as it is.

Checkup last night got rescheduled for 6pm… I came out with a clean bill of health, and confirmation that I’m losing weight at a decent clip for healthy reduction.

Mildly annoyed that my scheduling fails so often… being on call is great when you’re saving lives, suck rocks the other 85% of the calls. The phone is an albatross.

Thinking a lot about rings around the moon, and that makes me happy.

I suspect Porno Bob might be the next one on the cut list. I wonder if his association with CS will be a nail in his coffin?

6636 If I can’t help, I’ll let ’em be. (and wish them good fortune, until I can help)

There are about four people I can think of that need a clue. Sadly, I don’t really know them well enough to wrap one around a brick, and smack them in the head with it…Some folks have to live and learn by themselves. Plus, I may only know what I do from a skewed perspective.

Lots of rain, on one of my few nights off. I’m thinking that maybe just going out and splashing in the puddles is an answer.

Until later, dear journal!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, especially to Danny and argumentpleaseLisa!

Both are also fine, Tolkien-loving Pythonites. It’s good to know people like that are helping to make the world a better place, starting with kids.

It’s sort of odd knowing that I have folks that read my journal within walking distance of where I live. Not frightening or anything, but it’s interesting to me that I could have seen them at Starbucks (especially at Starbucks, considering two of them) or just while out and about.

Blur Studio’s Rockfish Video I dig what they’re doing with CGI these days. Amazing that none of it exists outside of the digital world.

I’m annoyed… I went back in time, shot Hitler in the head, came back and *absolutely nothing* changed. I think that the world must’ve gotten even worse and somebody else went back to undo my deed. [edit] Dang, I knew it. There are blanks in the weapon now. I loaded it with dumdums this morning, and history is as it was before I left, as far as I can tell. I’ve submitted it to Flarnberry for analysis. [end edit] I knew i should’ve destroyed the body or something. Ah well… I hope it was because some evil Russian empire took over, and it was for a greater “stopping the end of the world” sort of thing, rather than chrono-hoppping Nazis saving their dopey one-testicled fuhrer.

Man, I hate Chrono-hopping Nazis.

They’re even worse than the regular ones. Same dumbass mentality, better hardware.

They’re not even German. These new guys are Swiss, and South American. The other Germans hate ’em even more than the home-grown, which the rest despise.

[edit again] Ugh. What the heck? The timeline has certainly changed. The jar his brain was stored in used to be cylindrical, not globular. At least I don’t have to see his ugly mug anymore. [end edit again]

I’ve read the first 15 books in the Discworld series (and a few short stories), all from my palmtop. Probably my favorite light fantasy / humor series ever… It proves that there is something other than the 90% from Sturgeons law. I was a fan of the Xanth books as a kid, but they really lost steam after the first half dozen. I’m terribly impressed that someone can write anything as entertaining that can be held out for so long as Pratchett has. They’re not all total winners, but all worth a read in my opinion. Pratchett’s the first author I want to support by purchasing his books *after* having read them in pirated format.

I’m not sure which focus group I like the most… all of them have something going for them. Probably either the Witches or the Watch… The foci of some of the other books are the Unseen University (Wizards), Rincewind, Death as a Character, as well as a number of standalone books. The Rincewind books are the weakest, in my opinion.. if only because the others being so much stronger. Found a nice Wiki about the series too.

Something mentioned there – Nearly all of the Discworld novels are notable for having no chapter divisions.

6633 New beginnings, sleeping late and flashes of golden light

Congrats, dcl & no1topaz! I wish you both many years of good things ahead.

After yesterday’s bad sleeps (result of untimely calls) I woke up Sunday at about two in the afternoon. I think I hit the bricks last night at about 2am or so…. the only reason I got up at all was that the air and sea show had a bunch of loud fighter craft cruising low overhead.

I still haven’t heard anything about Cinco de Mayo, but I know that I’ve got the evening off. Maybe I’ll talk a little walkie down riverfront and sniffy-snuff my nose around, see what I can find.

I had a dream last night that I was being vivisected while my brain in a jar, watched on from an operating theater (using video cameras.. my eyes were still in my body’s head), from an theater filled with other doctors and brains in jars. While this was happening, occasionally a doctor would look surprised, and then vanish into a bright light. The others didn’t seem to notice, as they were engrossed in the surgery taking place.

That of course, prompted this poll:

[edit] What the heck does Показать ответы mean? View answers? Is LJ suffering from an error? (Clicking just gives the stats for other.) [end edit]

I wonder now if that was me on the other jars, too, looking at reflections, or parallel Scottos form other lands, or just other patients? Maybe someone kidnapped all the LHOLGs on the planet after spiking their wine. I don’t know.
