8297 – Coming at you like a shark with knees!

Newt was shown in yesterdays Zefrank video news post. Sadly, Zefrank says that animals aren’t allowed in any known League of Awesomeness. It seems I must submit a power move of my own, and thenget Newton into the league’s good graces later.

Maybe I should show my eyestalk yoink power move!

Yes, no, I, this is

Got together with Kat and Graypumpkin yesterday at lunch. Nice time was had lunch of bagel sammiches and I got gifties of Issues 4 & 5 of The Thing Comic, 1, 2, and 3 of the grant morrison superman comic, and a cool squishy toy.. an awesome replacement for blinky. It was nice visiting with ’em… It’s been over a decade since I’ve seen ’em. ’94, I think. We spoke about the usual.. fmaily, firneds, comics, livejournal, sushi, the appropriateness of naming a flower shop “adam and eve” -quoth kat “I’d like some apple blossoms, please!”, the danger of shrimp trucks.

Squishy octopus is pretty awesome, and he looks more durable than Blinky – hidden inside his swirling, glittery maw, are the two ultimate yin yang of good/evil of the deep… a great white shark and bottle nose dolphin, eternally battling inside the octocosm.

I didn’t give ’em the Dr. Who dvd, because I didn’t know we were doing lunch until mid-morning. If I was a cool guy, I’d drop it in the mail for them to come home to… or I can try and ge tthe first ep of th enew season on Sat, first.

If I wasn’t a dolt, I’d have taken pictures but I was too busy enjoying their company to remember my camera. Tomorrow they’re off ot tampa, and I doubt I’ll ge tot visit again before they head back to the lone star state. I look forward to seeing them again sometime soon.

Kudos to Mandy on her first day at the Chem lab!

Kev took a job doing programming as a civilian for the DoD at Gitmo. (The same place Hav used to do his gig.) Sounds like a sweet deal.. they’re training him, giving security clearance, paying for his lodging.. (everything but food and phone) great pay too.. only downside is, well.. it’s Cuba. He’ll get time off and such, but he can’t bring the puppies or kitties with him, either. (That’d be a deal breaker for me).. It’s about a 2 hour flight from here, so returning won’t be much of an issue on holiday. (about a month off every year).

I’m really happy for him.. he’s finally doing something worthwhile, well-paying, and for a boss he respects. I suspect he’ll really flourish there. He’s heading out there ein June, so we’ve got to have a few “fart parties” before he’s off to points south. I really would love for him to tell the pilot “TAKE THIS PLANE TO CUBA!”, but that’s probably a bad first impression.

AB was fired yesterday – wasn’t cutting it. RP will be out new agent ni Michigan… I think she’ll do a good job. RI is off to Texas for a week, and I think we’ll all get things done. It’ll be nice to have a new tech outside of the state.

KittenAuth Test – best human vs bot security ever. (via waxy)

KittenAuth is a new system for human-checking that forgoes all the useless random string crap that people cannot read, and replaces the whole lot with pictures of cute animals.

The current 9*9 design displays 9 pictures and requires that the user clicks 3 pictures of kittens. The location of the kittens in the grid is random and to make things more fun the contents of the pictures changes too.

What to do? Where to go?

Maybe a trip south to Miami? North to Palm Beach? Just Stay home and do laundry, fool on the internet and play with Baron von Newtonstien?

A few basic appointments today… Cleaning lady, Newt’s Checkup, but after 1 or so, I should be free. I have wanderlust, but no urge to do any actual walking. Perhaps a bike ride is in order. I’ll have it worked out by the time Rosemary leaves.

Whoops, Cleaning lady’s going to be here soon, time for me to fix up a bit beforeI head to the porch.

Time for me to vamoose. Until later, dear Journal!

Loki is pretty nifty. Surprisingly, it doesn’t use win2k, only XP sp 1 and greater, but there is a beta for both MSIE and Mozilla, and seems especially useful for laptop or mobile computer users. Lots of nifty local items to check out. It tries to workout where you are and then gives you various tools for doing stuff with that knowledge, including inserting geoTags to any form that takes an input. Busy day at work today – fund raiser and setup for the golf tourney will stretch our staff quite a bit. Going to be a skeleton crew. Got an abduction call out of Collier County last night.

Who’s the African Clark Gable?
Jojo, the Cannibal kid!

All the tribes eat fruits and berries
He’s the one that never did
He Prefers his missionaries
Jojo, the cannibal kid

He could aways pass on his manner and his savoir faire
Mix with every class – eat the finest people everywhere!

Circus sends him offers daily
{Bertram mills made him a bid}
but he’s holding out for Barnum Bailey,

Jojo is now in town

Moment of Lyric (mp3)

I keep on fear, keep on loathing
Nothing brings it on I keep on falling
Decide what it is I can not find
It’s subsides what you make it
Never feel like you’re gonna break it
It’s gonna be all right all right
Sleep until the morning comes
The sun will warm your soul
Sleep until the morning comes for you
‘Til the morning it’s all right
I can walk into the sunlight, into the day, into the day, to the day
I feel it falling, nothing comes to my mind
Bring it on in a different tide
I feel all right, all right
I feel strong, I feel rigid
It’s nothing to do with the vision
Oh feels so right, so right
Sleep on tight, sleep on tight
Sleep until the sunlight
Sleep until sunlight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight
Sleep on tight, ’til the sunlight
Sleep on tight, ’til the sunlight burns you happy
‘Til the sunlight burns you happy, till the sunlight burns a happy hole in
Your heart,
In your heart
In your heart…

Joe has just worked himself into an imaginary frenzy during the fade- out of his imaginary song
he begins to feel depressed now.
he knows the end is near.

and ultimately, who gives a fuck anyway?
so…so…excuse me…so
who gives a fuck anyway?
so he goes back to his ugly little room and quietly dreams his last imaginary guitar solo

8242 – Walkies on Sunday.

Walkabout on Sunday was good, I got more color, but think I dodged the burn bullet again. The ball cap let my nose still get a little red, however.

I walked to Mizner Park, just to check out the place, and it’s fared for the worse. I used to live behind there, and liked it a lot… but now, there are no bookstores.. (liberties is gone!), the international museum of cartoon art has been gutted, and the two cool wacky-weirdo art stores have been absorbed by other type stuff. bleh.

I’d hoped to go to my old hangout, Beany’s, for a veggie-cheese sammich with the vinaigrette that I love so well… but sadly, it was closed, but just for Sundays.

I abandoned Boca’s blandness, and retreated to the bus stop (I was too bushed to walk for a bit), and rode back to Hillsboro… and then crossed over to the 94 and hit the Deerfield mall. I stopped off for a breather at the movies… caught “The Hills Have Eyes” and was surprised. It was better than I thought. (Make no mistake, it is about mutants killing people trapped in an out-of-the-way location, but it was done well for what it was.) Afterward, I stopped off at EB and picked up a copy of counterstrike:source on sale. I’m looking forward to playing multi with hav and kev once I polish my skills a bit.

Roaming area, (note, some was done by bus. I walked about another 8 miles.)

I made a lot of use of autostitch today, clicking on the pictures makes them larger, as usual.

Pictures from walkabout – I saw unicorns and turtles and dolphins and killer mutants

Honestly, none of the videos thrill me, but I had fun taking pictures. I autostitched a few just for grins. I’m surprised my piecemeal feris wheel didn’t work out, but others seemed to blend pretty well.

While on walkabout yesterday, I ambled north on federal Highway, just to see what I might see. As I passed the IHOP (30 minute wait…Sunday morning pancake crowd is thick.) I saw a ferris wheel rising up over the steeple of the St. Ambrose Church. Nothing was moving yet, but as I drew near, more goodies came into view. Hungry from lack of flapjacks, and with visions of funnel cake dancing in my head, I sauntered over to take a closer look.

The guy doing parking informed me that the fair wasn’t going to get rolling until 1pm, but I was welcome to roam around. (The time at that point was 11am) I took advantage by walking the grounds, and taking some pictures of all the rides and stuff before anyone was around, queued up, or whatnot.

I was bad, food-wise.

  • Roasted ear of corn. $2
  • Funnel cake $2
  • French Fries mit der cheese $3
  • a bake sale brownie $1
  • about 2 liters of soda pop.(a $1 can at a time) $5

I did not eat the deep fried snickers bar that one stand was selling. I mean, I have my limits.

Highlights of the day was playing bingo (I spent $18, and won $12 of it back), Winning the 4pm 50/50 raffle – spent $6 for 5 tickets, got $148 back.

Entertainment was mediocre, an overly loud dj, and some stage band.

Let’s see, other money spent – $15 for a all day ride wristband.
$5 for another 6 raffle tickets (chance to win $2500.. they’ll call if the winner isn’t present)
$5 for a basketball hoop shooting carny game.. I won Newt a stuffed tiger (on Newtcam, at the moment) Sunk 5 balls out of 7. ($1 a toss, or $5 for 7)

So.. Amount spent – $48. / Amount brought in – $160.

Net profit for walkabout – $112, a stuffed tiger, some color on my nose and cheeks, lighter hair, and probably about 4 lbs before walking calorie burn-off. Not a bad day!

I can never remember any real good jokes
Do you feel like swimming?
Yes right now yes right now
I know a way to swim all the way downtown
It’s a lot like swimming first time over your head
It gets easier when you move your arms & legs
And for air you lift your head
Why don’t we try it right now?
Yes right now Yes right now
We’ll go by way of the garden fat with tomatoes and beans on the vine
Sweet like the way it was like swimming for the very first time…

Trying to avoid
Being hit in the leg
By the bag that is going
Around and around
In the miniature sidewalk whirlwind

But the crumpled-up bag
Moves exactly as fast
As the speed at which you walk
To avoid being hit in the leg

Aaaah
To the amusement of others
You are hit in the leg
By the bag
And as soon as it touches your leg
It’s completely attached

Trying to pull off a bag while still casually walking
Only increases the merriment
So at first you consider violence against the onlookers
But then on second thoughts
Maybe the bag

La la-la
La-la la-la
La-la la-la
La-la la-la la-la

Buppa-ba ba-ba
Buppa-ba ba-ba
Buppa-ba ba-ba ba
Ba ba ba buppa buppa ba ba
Buppa buppa buppa ba
Buppa-buppa-buppah-buppah-buppah ba

But it’s made out of some kind
Of stretchy new plastic
That cannot be ripped in half

Sadly you walk on in anger and shame
Not considering the fate of the very next one
Who will try to avoid being hit in the leg
By the bag that is going around and around
In the miniature sidewalk whirlwind

Ever and always
Around the world
Everywhere you go
There will always be those
Who will try to avoid being hit in the leg
By the bag that is going around and around
In the miniature sidewalk whirlwind
