7941 – Big Bird dies from Big Avian Flu

GeotargetDan, Jan, Russ, Beck and I had a reasonably groovy day yesterday.

We had lunch at Red Lobster… They make a pretty good baked ‘tater there, but I did feel a little sad for the tanked sea-bugs.

As for Arsenic & Old Lace, the play started slow, but was quite fun by the end. The kids did a good job overall, but I’m still not sure why they had a bunch of girls dance to a Bette Midler tune as an opener. It was entertaining, but didn’t quite mesh with the dark humor of the rest.

On the way back, we went past an expensive community.. (Homes going for $5 mil and thereabouts) and we started discussing who had that kind of money. My comment of “mostly folks that did something either illegal or immoral (or inherited it from someone that did something illegal or immoral)”. Beck didn’t like my saying that *AT ALL*, commented that it was a very twisted belief and many folks work very hard for their money and that I’m a terrible person for even suggesting otherwise. It was such a heartfelt statement of distress, I couldn’t help but snicker a little. Ah well, some points lost with Danny’s ma. Dan’s Pop still seems to think I’m pretty cool.

D & j’s finches are very cute, tiny peepy birds. Also, they have a huge iguana living out in his back yard, too. I’d guess he’s about 3ish foot long.

We rode back to my neighborhood and took a little walk down Las Olas.. and stopped off for a drink at Rino’s. Allison, our server was *amazingly* knowledgeable, and took care of the drinks well…but I think I still would’ve preferred a trip to the poorhouse. (I don’t think that Jan would’ve been very comfy there, however.)

What is Black Friday?
Black Friday is the day AFTER Thanksgiving. This is usually the day that kicks off Winter/Christmas sales, so most stores have their best deals today. Usually such great deals that people will camp out overnight to be sure to get whatever is on sale. Is it worth the $50 in savings? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It’s how much you value your time. It’s one thing to wait to get the item, it’s another thing to have to wait in line to actually purchase that item.

So, are these really what’s on sale? How do I take advantage of this knowledge?
First off, the items posted to be on sale are just *cough*rumors. For legal purposes, they are just pure speculation *cough**cough* But don’t be too surprised if you find out that the ad matches what is on this page With this information, avoid the holiday rush and waking up before 5am to get that certain item. Simply go to the store before Thanksgiving, buy the item, then on Black Friday (November 25th) go into the store and price-match (buy and rebuy) your item back for the new advertised price. Make sure you buy your item near Black Friday though, because some stores have policies where they will only match their own price 30 days after you bought the item. Not a huge deal now, but for future reference.

Personally, I’m not buying anything that day, but I love this sort of espionage type thing.

“MY MIND” by Chubby Checker :MP3

Chubby Checker may have told us to do the Twist, but while we were doing that, he went to Holland, smoked a lot of pot, and recorded a single called “Stoned In the Bathroom”. The flip, “My Mind” (MP3) is found on the new Toytown compilation of obscuro psych, called Nightmares At Toby’s Shop, findable via Forced Exposure – via

7830 – Weebles *do* fall down. They just don’t fall over very often.

Awesome quote from acoolsecretary

Halloween Palm doodle drawn on the bus –

Based on this found skull-bead thing I found on walkies yesterday –

It is haunted, the voice it puts in my head [sounds a bit like Jim Backus] makes me laugh at purple things and rewards me with small treats like found candy corn and one dollar bills. He’s very tiny, as you can tell by looking at the pattern on my pants as his background. I’d estimate one third of an inch tall. (maybe 8 mm?)

I wonder if anyone’s made a rosary comprised of skull-beads? Sounds terribly goth-y, but fun.

Feel free to ask the skull-head a question, and I will give his answers in the comments field below.

Moment of Lyric:

7799 – panorama and one line thoughts

“If you’re not with us, you’re against us” makes as just exactly as much sense as someone saying “If you’re not an apple, you’re a banana.”

hm… I won 25 prints through snapfish, but don’t use the service… anyone reading this want ’em? First come, first serve.

Nuts! I forgot all about the Hukilau! Maybe I can do a little catchup today.

HP is back in town.. I’m glad her vacation was nice, and that she made it back to her critters!

7798 – palm post 6.21p-10/08/05

Wallace & Gromit didn’t disappoint… it was excellent, and wasn’t watered down at all. Lots forany age to enjoy, plus a number of fine nods to classic horror films to boot. Plenty of laugh out loud moments, and the opening feature with the Madagascar penguins was also excellent. The kids at the show had a great time, and there were no screaming babies or annoying cell phones.

Aside from that, walkies were composed of roaming the Aventura mall and people-watching. There is a huge population of cuties, elders, kids and tourists to eyeball, not to mention punks, thugs, goths and other pseudo-fashion trendies.

It was nice to sleep in and then go out and about mostly undisturbed.

Thought about dying a colored streak in my hair for halloween… gray, and when asked about it at work, just claiming “what I saw… I can never tell… anyone. ever.” and then shuddering, saying no more.

7334 – Nice day for Presents in the mail!

I got a lovely red thread from the Lisa2 It now adorns my palmtop case, which never leaves my side.

“An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break.”

I also got a received a groovy postcard from bubbles3563! A lovely shot of a mole sailor on a clipper ship near a curvy lighthouse. Thank you! It now has a revered spot on my fridge.

The walking weather is getting superb. The air is just a little cool in the early morning, prime for walkies, without all the eye-fry of the city of glass/disco ball dawn effect. I’m looking forward to more brisk weather soon.

2 new employees at work… Accounting assistant and A fund-raiser-type. Both seem to be quite friendly, and ready to play. BK has been quite generous to me again lately… good thing, because a number of other folks have been ticking her off, big time.

2nd life continues to impress, as do the people contained therein.

Moment of Lyric: (MP3)

battersea – how it is
it’s over – forget
memories full of chocolate
got to get over it – forget
your world is different than mine
got to get over it – got to forget
and sigurd is the one i don’t like
I’m afraid of him – I’ve got to forget
knocking on the blue water
it’s over – forget
praline and chocolate ice
got to get over it – forget
your world doesn’t match with mine
got to get over it – got to forget
and sigurd rules your friend’s life
I’m afraid of him – got to forget

Dude digs it
