In today’s video I’m looking into all the hype surrounding Web3, blockchain technology, NFTs, and trying to work out WHY this is all happening. The Folding Ideas video ‘Line Goes Up’ came out as I was researching this, and I found that even though we had come to the same conclusion on many aspects of this, I actually came to a different conclusion as to why I think this is all happening – and it’s much more dystopian than most people think. This technology is dangerous and could ruin people’s lives in more ways than just losing out on their investments when the bubble deflates or pops. I have found that many people on the left don’t like this technology but they’re not quite sure why – so my video focusses more on how Bitcoin in particular has strong ties to far-right extremism which was birthed out of the Great Depression in the 1930s, and how the extremely libertarian & conservative Ethereum founder, Peter Thiel, wants to harvest data for the purposes of governing society with rigid code, and he’s getting Jordan Peterson to help.

We’ll cut and shape some jeweler’s wax, do some mold-making, tint, pour, and pressurize some resin, do a little woodworking, and have a lot of fun. This record, released in 1977, comes from the period of time just after Roky’s release from the Texas mental institution. The demons he suffered from as a result of the inhumane treatment there were expressed in a series of recordings that were done at several studios, notably The Church studio in Marin County, California, by producer Bill Steele.

I had the good fortune to be in that studio for a short time when Roky was in session, brought there by a friend who worked there and knew of my interest in his music. My friend also gave me this record as well as the Sponge EP, which contains four tracks familiar to all Roky Erickson fans, which I will post in good time.

This is the original 1967 mono mix, created by the artists and their producer. This particular copy is a promo copy, of which it has been said, no more than about 30 were made. I picked this one up for one dollar in 1970 at a used record store on 8th Street in New York City.
