Photo is a way I rather envision parts of Salem / Roanoke Virginia, maybe even more primitive, because somehow, I suspect some hut dwellers live with better connectivity. (Note, the lovely actual home I recently stayed in was a beautiful multifloor four-bedroom place, with access to delivery groceries and multiple takeout options, with a university literally just down the road, and a pretty bustling community, not isolated at all.)

Salem, Virginia is a region that showcases the stark contrast between advanced technology and inadequate infrastructure. On one hand, Salem is home to multiple colleges and schools, and just down the road in Blacksburg, there is a bustling tech corridor, known for its cutting-edge research and development. But on the other hand, many residents of Salem struggle with poor internet connectivity that hinders their ability to fully participate in the digital economy.

Living in the 21st century, it’s hard to imagine a world without high speed internet. But for many rural communities, such as Salem, Virginia, this is still a reality. Despite advancements in technology, these areas still struggle to access the internet due to a lack of supporting infrastructure.

For a number of folks who live in Salem, the lack of internet connectivity is a daily struggle. They rely on their smartphones for internet access, but the signal is often weak and unreliable. This makes it difficult for them to stay connected with family and friends, as well as access important information and services online.

This lack has major implications for education and economic development. Many people in these areas struggle to access online resources like remote work and completion of homework assignments.

It’s time for government and private companies to take action and invest in the infrastructure needed to bring internet connectivity to communities like Salem. Access to the internet is no longer a luxury, but a necessity in today’s world.

Why you should watch Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc. (2010) instead of Velma (2023)

If you’re a fan of the classic Scooby-Doo series, then you’re in for a treat with Mystery Inc. This newer iteration of the beloved franchise offers a fresh take on the Mystery Gang, delving deeper into the characters’ personal lives and relationships.

One of the standout elements of the show is the dynamic between the main characters. The Mystery Gang are all actual friends and hang out together in a relatable and realistic way. We also get to see their families for the first time, with Daphne having four sisters, Shaggy being weirdly rich, Fred living in a McMansion with his adopted father, and Velma’s parents running a museum dedicated to the Gang’s solved mysteries from the 60s show.

Scooby-Doo himself also gets some cute moments, such as when he beats up a robot dog with a forklift and quotes Alien. The show also has some fun nods to other popular culture, like a Twin Peaks-esque episode and a nicely artistic parody of Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground.

One of the more entertaining aspects of the show is the inclusion of magic and the fact that the monsters are often real. This adds a newer layer to the world of Scooby-Doo and has a host of implications for the characters.

The show also has some noteworthy guest appearances, including comedian Lewis Black as a character named Mr. E, who acts as a Cigarette Smoking Man-type instigator of mystery, and the Hex Girls come back as sometimes helpers.

Another aspect that sets Mystery Inc. apart is the depiction of the characters’ romantic relationships. Fred and Daphne have a realistic and healthy relationship that ebbs and flows, and Velma and Shaggy have a realistic breakup when it turns out they make better friends. The writers got close to having Velma and Marcie (aka Hot Dog Water, on account of her wool sweaters) be a queer-coded couple.

All in all, Mystery Inc. offers a fresh and exciting take on the Scooby-Doo franchise, with a strong emphasis on character development and a heightened sense of realism.

Plus, who doesn’t a polka-loving Shaggy, and writing like in the photos here? https://instagr.am/p/CnyKu3fMtfj/

Liked on YouTube: Bambu Lab X1 Carbon: What NOBODY Is Talking About…

They got to me. I finally reviewed the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon Combo. This video is brought to you by Thangs.com… which is, like, the GitHub of STLs and things to 3D print. Check it out at https://bit.ly/3RgR2xP

Soo… it finally happened. Bambu Lab, after seeing my evil plan video, decided that they wanted me to experience their flagship product firsthand, and they generously sent me an X1 Carbon Combo 3D Printer… Which most would say is the absolute BEST 3D Printer of 2023. They only had ONE condition: Despite the fact that I generally don’t like to say negative things on my channel, and I prefer to share my feedback as constructive rather than outwardly critical, they absolutely insisted that I give my raw, unfiltered feedback both about them and their product.

Well, I’ve been playing around with the Bambu Lab X1-Carbon Combo for a little while now, and I have to say, there have been some surprises. I thought that I would know everything that there is to know about this printer, and yet there were a lot of things that really did surprise me. Things that I couldn’t believe nobody is talking about… (Or, at least, nobody was talking about when I recorded it…but there are SO many videos coming out about Bambu Lab and the X1 Carbon, that some other great content creators beat me to it!)

And in this video, I’m going to share them with all of you. Who knows? Maybe even those of you who own a Bambu Lab product like this didn’t notice these things. Let’s find out.
