Written in the past to post today. The theme was a fake band logo (I chose “The Wombat Factory”)—and also went with an album cover, as my logo skills are weak. What do you think each member does in the band?
Prompt – “Donut Mess with Me” Just taking a breather post-PT before getting back to business. Hips and upper back got a lot of work today, and I am feeling it. Background picture from the Boynton Inlet, circa 1986. Modular Donut is loosely based on recent glyos figures- and I am wondering where I put that tiny black cape? We had some sour cream donuts for breakfast, and while tasty, not what I would call filling. I’m going to hit the fridge harder for lunch, I think. Plenty of leftovers and “not-yet starteds” available in the ol’ fridge.
Prompt was “Bat-Dan.” I went with Dan, meaning Dane/Danish person. (I know Vikings didn’t wear horned helmets, but it better suited the Batman aesthetic).
I swiped the background wholesale from Batman the animated series and just tweaked the colors a bit. My work is just the Bat-Dan himself.
A viking batman must be in the mythos somewhere, but none come to my mind – I will do a deep dive to look later.
The prompt is “pissed pizza”, and we are having pizza for supper tonight, so here we go. I prefer my pizza to be content and happy, in my tummy, honestly. I got my favorite at the moment (onion and black olive), while my better half got her usual. It should be arriving any time now.
Before her fame fades from my memory, Moo Deng the Pygmy Hippo—something lovely from September 2024. While other stresses of all sorts exist in the world, it is nice to have many people focusing on a cute and fiesty baby animal.
This little butterball is far cuter in real life than in my drawing, and I hope that putting “Moo Deng hippo” in an internet image search continues to find adorable animal pictures whenever I return to this post in the future. Hi, future self! I hope you are doing well today, got some good rest, and have a delicious meal next time you are ready to eat. (Same goes for whoever else stumbles across this entry, too.) Go look at some pictures of cute critters!
Prompt – “a pretty cool ghoul,” so i gave him a jukebox headstone and greaser vibe, like vintage fonzie. I like to think he’d lend you a stick of gum or offer a shoulder to cry on, and that’s pretty cool. I was shooting for a kind of “Mike Allred, classic Madman” art style, but I don’t think it is quite there. I really prefer to do stuff with a short 3 or 4 color pallette…makes things more consistent.
Tonight, we are watching Lisa Frankenstein, and I found it entertaining for a Diablo Cody flick. The unliving, yet animated thing holding a wiener is pretty appropriate, actually.
I can almost certainly guarantee that all the Italian in there is from my grandmother on my dad’s side. My Uncle Billy really takes after her, as do his kids and grandkids. The other 75% Irish and Scandinavian are from the other three grandparents. Little brother got the super blonde hair and blue eyes, but tans easily. I got sandy hair as a kid and the blue eyes, too, but my skin is a bit lighter than his, but with a little gold , like my dad.
I have more Neanderthal DNA than one-third of the tested population. I assume (possibly incorrectly?) that means I have less than two-thirds.
I suspected that I would have more Cro-Magnon and Yeti characteristics anyway.
Both of my grandfathers were well over 6 feet tall, but both grandmothers were a little short. My mother and her brother are tall, but her sister was a little bit shorter. My father, his brother, and sister are all pretty tall, too, but not as big as their father. My brother and I are taller than either of our parents, but their siblings all have kids shorter than themselves (I think probably because they have shorter partners).
I run more fat and muscular than my brother, who is leaner and fit. He also lives a much more physically active life. I am far too sedentary. It’s hard to chalk that up to genetics.
Day two of premature Stinktober doodling – keywords Fat Cat. We have our uncarved pumpkin out so, I figure this spherical chonk can be setting out a jackolantern and eat some seasonal ice cream, too.
Thank you again to @chrispiascik and @flakesarts For pitting me on to the challenge!
My boy Ted arrived today—Marvel Legends Man-Thing! I pre-ordered him back in early June, and he will make a lovely mucky addition to my shelf of bog beasts. (Assorted things, both Swamp and Man-, Moss Man, and a stray Bigfoot or two.)
