9573 – Wednesday 1/7/9

Regular day in ol’ Scottoville, dear journal.

Icy, cold rain all day – bhk and I came home, and she had some tasty quiche for us to munch for dinner.

We both chatted a bit with Angie Goff last night via mogulus – I’m not sure if it’s what I want ot use to strema newtcam, but it is a good little website, once you work out the kinks. Also so Kim Martucci on video as well – it was fun chatting with both of ’em!

It occurs to me that I haven’t yet mentioned my Christmas loot. here is a brief list, likely in need of more detail later.

Here are some of the goodies I got this year, in no particular order, just off the top of my head:

  • Some wonderful coupons – BHK’s undying love, homemade fudge and dinner of my choice!
  • Battery charger – runs on usb or wall plug
  • book on playing the bass guitar
  • bananagrams game – I love the bag and the pieces – can’t wait to play
  • scrabble poker game
  • a bubble-balance (on a keyring)
  • a snakehead fish plushie (in orange and green)
  • Several books – Some Steven Fry, The Twelve, a book of goofy letters sent to companies, National Musueum, assorted super-hero, and other keen tomes
  • a shoeshine sponge
  • Wings of War – Balloon-Busting Biplane combat game from Danny
  • $200 coupon good for cash transfer into the bank
  • A boatload of candy, cookies and such! Including homemade haystacks from BHK – crunchies, butterscotch and peanut held together with chocolate. yum!
  • Baked goods of many varieties
  • a tea towel
  • Oranges & assorted citrus (also a chocolate orange)
  • A lovely blue striped sweater, that actually fits
  • 2 new train cars for my engine – a flat freight and a yellow grain container
  • A miniature Stonehenge kit (will look good by the train)
  • a laser-pointer/flashlight gizmo
  • best of the Thunderbirds on dvd (the puppet tv show, not the rock band)
  • a tissue box cover made of scrapbook paisley and clip art frogs
  • a martha stewart pie cutter/server

Did I forget anything? Sure I did… but I’ll mention them as they pop up either in use or conversation.

9572 – Tuesday

Still pretty darned psyched about going to see Punxatawney Phil on my B’day. I am concerned a bit about the weather, though. Last year, it was 27 degrees, not horrid, but pretty dang cold.

It’s been snowing there all this week, and it’s only going to get chillier!

We should stock up the love cube with some hot cocoa, cider, and plenty of blankets, too. Oh, and plenty of Polka Music for the 5 hour drive. 🙂

Using one word for each letter of the alphabet, make a list of the words you most associate with yourself or that you feel best describe you.

Best? I’ll just go with first that comes to mind. Maybe I’ll come back and fill in more detail – maybe not.

Allison – my love.
Barefoot
Creaky – Back, hip, jaw… a little work around the joints would be nice.
Determined – not much of a quitter here.
Eyesight – one of my better physical traits, at least as far as viewing the surface of things. No x-ray vision, sadly.
Food – When food is prepared to my liking, I get a sense of comfort. BHK is an amazing cook. MD has far better food than FL, too.

Large. (I’m fairly close to Bluto‘s not as mean Twin – tall and overweight both)
Monkeys!

Orcs
Pyewacket
Queries (both SQL, and everyday life)

Sleepy
Telephone-hater
Ubuntu
Vegetarian – (Not too severe – I’ll do eggs/diary, and the occasional sea creature with more than 4 legs)
Wombat
Xorn. Why? Because I have a soft spot in my heart for tripod creatures… the mouth-on-top eating precious metals and gems is a bonus. What was I going to say? X-ray? Xylophone? I nearly went with XXXL, but I figure it’s covered at L.
Yeti
Zombies (though they are getting a trifle passe’)

Back to Work! Didn’t kill the beard for now, but it’s still pretty close to the face. Not quite the "wild man from borneo"

I think I bit my lip while sleeping the other night – probably the ear thing again. Pain is mostly gone now, just a little irritant here and again.

Looks like snow outside – very gray day.

My jaw still looks a little out of whack and swollen… but it’s a lot better than before.

After work, BHK and I had Chinese food with In-laws, and discussed birthday plans for me – BHK has an idea for us to go to Puxatawney, PA for Groundhog’s day –

a few links for me to peruse before the trip – http://www.punxsutawney.com/calendar/ and http://www.groundhog.org

It’ll be the 123rd anniversary of the event – and my first time there, though I’ve wanted to go for some time.

Item of note – Phil’s Birthday Celebration, Punxsutawney Community Center, Peterson Room, Come and celebrate your February 2nd birthday Phil’s way. Cake and punch served. Free gift with proof of birth date.

Zonking out early .. poor BHK has had too much holiday excitement, I tihnk!
