Yesterday I finally found solid ground, the weekend is looking clear, and bro hasn’t been in any trouble (that I know of). The chicken coop at work is getting less clucky, now that the big kahuna is at her destination, and the stressful prep has come to an end for the moment.

Downside, Mel’s Gramma is in the hospital, and had a minor heart attack. She’s under observation right now.. I hope she mends quickly.

Mel & I are definitely a go-go for some sort of day trip this Sunday… not sure where.. maybe Parrot Jungle? Don’t tell Mel, but I really am more interested in seeing the monkeys (especially Jake) than the pretty birds.

I made a point of putting in a request to get my birthday off this year.. it falls on a Wednesday, but I didn’t take any other personal days yet. I think that I’m going to take a bit of time off in mid-may.

A couple of people at work read my LJ… EN and JH, at least. It was odd, JH called me Scotto today, and it was a bit of a surprise. A pleasant one, certainly. I’m digging the new blood so far.. I think the younger crowd will soften some of the sharper edges the elders have. Plus, it takes a lot of the workload off of me. Now what we need is a receptionist, so that I’m no longer distracted by diving for the phones.

Mel isn’t crazy about my lovely Hawaiian music. She’s having some difficulty with her gramma lately, too.. Gram isn’t very physically happy with meds… they have a “return to sender” sort of effect. Mel took her to the ER yesterday, and Gram got to spend the night at the hospital. That sort of killed our Sunday outing, but there’s always next weekend.

Mel made me happy when she very carefully and kindly escorted a stinging caterpillar off of her car, and guided him onto a leaf in order to transport him to a tree. That means a lot… not just a flick onto the ground.

Tons of free Old Time Radio shows for free online. I hope they get Johnny Dollar soon. Nero Wolfe and Blue Beetle are my current earfuls. More fodder to put in the mp3 player.

I miss Hostess fruit pies, but I miss Dolly Madison’s chocolate pudding pies even more.

Mel’s middle fingernail came off… I think she overused it in traffic, and it spontaneously combusted.

We just flopped around on Saturday, as both of us are broke after the holiday. A quick lunch and a trip to the cd exchange to swap out old CDs, and look for fun new music and movies. I got a lot of store credit for future ref, and got rid of a pile of media that I don’t listen to anymore.

We spent the evening reading up on mental illness, watching assorted weather specials about tsunamis, earthquakes and meteor strikes, and talking for hours and hours about all manner of stuff.

Surprise visit from Mel last night.. I thought she was going to have to tend to gramma during PT, but I lucked out.

She makes me a big mooshy-bear. I’m glad to see that she’s feeling a lot better, too.

Something’s up at work.. a lot of new hires. I hope that means our growth is chugging right along. We should be rearranging the place in a month.
