Navy approves first ever Satanist
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3948329.stm
The British Armed Forces has officially recognised its first registered Satanist, a newspaper reports. Naval technician Chris Cranmer, 24, has been allowed to register by the captain of HMS Cumberland, based at Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth.
The move will mean that he will now be allowed to perform Satanic rituals on board the vessel. Continue reading 6959 – Still no cannibalism, I think.

After doing some reading up, I’m going to pass on the Averetec 3500. It’s priced low for a reason… a lot of issues, techwise. It has a real “lemon” feel to it, after an in-depth analysis.
Maybe I won’t do a tablet, after all…it’d be fun, but a notebook is a lot more economical, and I don’t really need a touchscreen factor outside of my palmtop. All I really want is a simple workhorse that has wireless, a decent cd/dvd multi-drive, a long battery life, and a screen I wouldn’t mind looking at for a few hours at a throw.
Newt’s been very talkative all weekend… I spent almost all of Sunday just goofing with him. The little guy makes me very happy.
I didn’t know Alex Ross did political cartooning! Recent cover of the village voice.
I remember an old issue of Iron Man where he had roller skate boots. Single-wheel rollerblades, it seems!
Feel free to give more detail in comments.

Walkabout was nice.. I got some needed chores done, and eyeballed some notebooks, as lappie’s feeling his age. 256 meg is lappie’s max, and the OS is getting too fat, and the HD too small.
I may get myself an early Christmas present sometime in the next month or so. The Averatec 3500 is looking like a winner. I’d prefer the pen to be mounted in a silo, rather than just on the side of the screen, but that’s a trivial concern next to it being a tablet-notebook that’s under $1000 after rebate.
I’ll see how I feel in a week or two.
Do any new cars have that little triangular window in the door? Strange nostalgia, seeing one recently.
Best line I’ve heard lately…
“A SUV with an American flag on it is like a whore wearing a rosary.”
Random scotto factoid: Lately, when I say the word nice, is sounds to me like “noice”.

In the comments section of this post:
1. Tell me one thing you like about me.
2. Tell me two things you like about yourself.
Then…
3. Look through the comments. When you see someone you know, tell them three things you like about them.
4. Do this in your journal so I can tell you what I like about YOU. (or just ask, and I’ll tell you here.)

I think the idea of Galactus with a gold tooth, flashing gang signs, and going “East SIIIIIDEE” before taking a bite out of Earth is no worse than most of the comic book stuff I’ve seen lately.
I don’t think that I have a destiny. I do have a direction… I want to thrive while doing good work. I think the idea of “fate” is awful situation… who wants to be stuck on one track, no choice, trapped?
Random Scotto factoid: I am made of meat and blood, bone, teeth and hair. There’s some bacteria, dust mites and plant life, too. Electromagnetic impulses, sticky mucus, bright blue eyes and a titanium pin.
Saw about 10 minutes of Smallville last night… meh. Maybe it was an off night, but Clark and Lana seem to be less able to act than most of the co stars. Maybe they suffer from “Vader” syndrome… hired just by looks, not ability. It seems that the show relies on shining reflections off of people’s eyes, too.
Quote from the episode – “A man is measured by the quality of his friends.” If that’s the case, I’m in good shape, and my bro’s in a bit of trouble.
How’s the saying really go? Quality of his years? Maybe that’s more of an internal thing.
Lost was a lot better… but I don’t like 10,000 speed film or whatever. The “Gladiator/sports photography” look just doesn’t engage me.

“TV-B-Gone [is] a new universal remote that turns off almost any television. The device, which looks like an automobile remote, has just one button. When activated, it spends over a minute flashing out 209 different codes to turn off televisions, the most popular brands first.”
The flash multi-user magnetic refrigerator letters app is fascinating. I’ve noticed that I can set off a wave of behaviors, just by grouping certain letters or colors together. people will flock to assist in the grouping, as well as “spoilers” who try to mess up patterns. (not to mention the dueling curse words, name spellers, at times, too.) it can be fun just to watch the flock behavior and not even fool with it. An oracle might even see words of the future unfold, if there was a lot of “LOL” and “FAP” in it. and who could ask for more than that?
Saw Episode 3 of Lost… (The boar hunt… or the first one after the pilot.) It looks pretty dang good so far. I’m looking forward to tonights episode, and seeing the downloaded pilot and episode four, as well.

6943 – Hey, Kool-Aid!
Seeing this icon reminded me of on of my favorite character ideas of Danny’s from games past.
Dan had a character Best Suited for his personality – “Man of Iron“, but one of his other planned supers was Kool-Aid Man. Child-actor who actually was Kool-Aid man.. became disenfranchised later in life when nobody took him seriously, and began using his “giant pitcher of red fluid”-powers to commit crimes. It didn’t take long to catch him… and now he goes on special missions with Z-squad. (Or… would, if he wasn’t asked to come up with something else. He ended up playing a tunneling Joe Pesci slimeball named the Weasel… a precursor to his current character in the D20 D&D game his students are running at the school.)
Watched Silent Running this morning. With the exception of the “message music” that seems to be in all movies in or around the early 70s, it is a really good film. I of course sympathize more with the murderous space-hippie than the corporate drones.
Lappie’s battery charge no longer detects properly… I suspect it’s on the way out. I wonder if I can locate an inexpensive replacement? He’s been a durable little bugger since the mack’s groves gig, years ago. The only add-ons I’ve ever done to him are memory and a wireless card (and reformatted from Windows Me(h) to 2000) … he’s served me well both as a primary and a backup machine for quite a span… aside from games that require heavy-duty graphics, it’s still a fine little workhorse.
Well, the rainy season is officially over… how come the hurricane season still extends into and through November?
The weather is lovely outside.. highs in the 80s at noontime, lows in the 60s at night. *This* is the reason my folks moved to the south in the first place.

Saturday, at last, at last.
What to do? Where to go? Morning chores are laid out for me… laundry and cleaning, but after that, the day is free for the taking.
Maybe I’ll just hop a city bus and see where it goes.
I hear that CS is back at school taking random courses in some sort of quest for a meaningful direction, now that he’s disenchanted with the computer field. I think that sounds rather wasteful of funds, but I don’t know the whole story.
He’s going to hit some trouble, I think. From what I’ve seen of his personality, he’s not going to find anything that works for him. I only hope that he’s not milking his girlfriend, bleeding her dry while he seeks some direction.
Whoops.. took a little morning nap, and forgot to post! Hard to do chores with a comfy bed and a snuggly Newt! Until later…I’m off to do the washing, dear journal!
