Garden report – grapevines ๐, squash ๐ and asparagus all coming along nicely. I am hoping that our vineyard is tasty and fruitful when the time comes. As it gets cooler, the vines are going to get more woody and tough, so I am glad they are visibly growing every day while it is still warm. The one overachiever vine is something like 7ish feet now, where the rest are at about 5.
Had to regather our recycling this morning as the wind had taken some of our many cardboard boxes out of the bin. It was overfull since we get a regular veggie ๐ฅฌ๐ฅฆ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ delivery from imperfect and misfit.
Loving the cooler ๐ weather ๐ฅ๏ธ right now, fewer mosquitoes ๐ฆ and more songbirds and crickets ๐ฆ It was downright cacophonous when I was walking out this morning. Temp went from upper 60s to low 70s, and quite comfy – I am creaky ๐ฆด๐ but very happy โบ๏ธ to have gone for a little promenade ๐ถโโ๏ธ right after breakfast ๐ฅฃ.
Critter count – too many squirrels, something big in the brush (probably a fox ๐ฆ or a possum ) that took off at serious speed when trod on a particularly snappy branch.
Several songbirds ๐ถ ๐ฆ, I think finches and robins but a finer ear than mine could probably pick out more specific and varied chirps. One osprey ๐ ๐ฆ was seen but not heard, no eagles ๐ฆ and side note, we have a neighborhood owl ๐ฆthat can be heard nightly ๐ from our porch, but not during the day ๐ (reasonable)
No turtles ๐ข, frogs ๐ธ, children of the corn ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ฆโ๐ฆ๐ฝ or buffalo๐ to be seen.
Catwise, I only saw Panda cat ๐ผ ๐ again today, fluffernutter cat๐ฅโช๐, and alien cat ๐ฝ ๐
I wonder how silly ๐ this will look to me later looking back ? I don’t usually fiddle with emoji, but figured that I would follow my keyboard suggestions for a change .

Much cooler today, 71f in the sun, probably 5 cooler in the shade, which is ideal for me.
Critter count, aside from Panda, 3 squirrels, a few turkey vultures, one robin, a couple of cowbirds and lots of brown and white butterflies pairing off in combat or love.
I haven’t seen alien or fluffernutter kitty lately, but if they are indoors, I am happy they are safe.
Possum skeleton is totally gone, either covered by foliage or scattered by gnawing beasts.
About half the people I saw (4 of 9) were wearing masks, disappointing.
Mrs picked up our mail for the first time in about a month, looking forward to seeing if ballot info is in there yet, plus glyos stuff ordered a few weeks back.
May go for a 2nd walk later this evening if body, weather and light holds out for us.
I brought @maximillian_deersteak with me to the swamp for a quick jaunt during lunchtime. We saw a squirrel, panda the cat, a skunk, some crown-tipped coral fungus as well as the standard toadstool / step fungus.
Birdsong was minimal, but cicada chirps were plentiful.
Midday mosquitoes were out but not too terrible, maybe a few bites each.
Weather was a bit cooler, but direct sun was still plenty hot. I am ever thankful for leafy shade. Some branches by the water seem to have snapped off recently, maybe from recent rain… Or just age. I know the feeling.
