6689 Home again… that was quick.

Wow… DAfT was pretty weak. nice effects, but bad acting and writing. A pity.. there was some real potential there. I’d say to rent the Poseidon Adventure rather than going to see it. (Pretty nice page, too.) It’s pretty sad when Dennis Quaid can’t save a movie. He just walked through.

Dan & I were reduced to passing notes back and forth on my palmtop, and giggling like we were in high school. We wrote in red on a black background so we didn’t suffer from any pupil-shift.

Dan’s Starting commentary –

I feel no emotion for this movie. The writing is poor, etc. Now, I am only interested in the special effects.

Other comments were – Warning, spoilers.

I think I’d like to try my hand at beekeeping.

Nice thoughts of a song I haven’t heard in ages –

Sleep my dear for the red bee hums the silent twilights fall
Aoibheal from the gray rock comes to wrap the world in thrall
A lyan van o my child my joy my love and heart’s desire
The crickets sing you lullabys beside the dying fire
Dusk is drawn and the green man’s horn
Is wreathed in rings of fog
Sheevra sails his boat till morn
Upon the starry bog
A lyan van o the paley moon
Has ringed her cusp in dew
And weeps to hear the sad sweet song
I sing my love to you
Sleep my dear for the red bee hums the silent twilights fall
Aoibheal from the gray rock comes to wrap the world in thrall
A lyan van o my child my joy my love and heart’s desire
The crickets sing you lullabys beside the dying fire

Aww, what a nice compliment from my littlerbigsis ldy… I wonder if it’ll become a meme? Dangerous, considering the naughty-word factor.

Behold! My journal has been taken over by a preteenl!

Ok, I got it back again.

Going out to lunch with Dan and his SF club for sushi in the afternoon. I’ll get a glimpse at his students and put faces to some of the names he’s mentioned. After, (if there’s time / he’s not tutoring) we might go check out The Day After Tomorrow… or Troy, if DAfT isn’t timed to start at a good time.

I’ve had a little cough recently… I hope that I’m not coming down with the flu-bug that my brother had last week.

New Stuff in CoH! (thanks, Whims!)

Ok, off to get ready for my day. I’ll catch you later, dear journal.

6686 – Payday, Friday, longish weekend ahead.

I’m delighted that the new(beta) Yahoo Messenger has integrated launch cast. Makes getting my playlists much simpler. Also, the New Yahoo toolbar for MSIE removes spyware.

Lately, I’m quite glad I don’t have tourette’s… lots of random comments that’d have gotten me in trouble today leapt to the front of my brain. (I took a bunch of digital piccies for the web site… we’ll be selling items with our logo on them.) VS is an excellent model, ADP & LH were overly vain. Right on the tip of my mind were all sorts of rude and inappropriate comments. I’d rather bark or quack out of control than yell something intelligible but hurtful.

Got a nice surprise in a long, friendly, supportive phone call yesterday from someone I haven’t heard a lot from in a long time, and it really made my night. Lots of good socializing, excellent legal advice about a few things, and just general good gab. Thanks.

MIT’s OpenCourseWare – Thanks for the tip, ldy-sis!

aw, just a canned reply from Athenos…They only referenced my booty-kissin’ signature line at the end.

2003 Report by Florida Medical Examiners Commission on Drugs Identified in Deceased Persons

Today, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) released the Florida Medical Examiners Commission’s Report on Drugs Identified in Deceased Persons. The report contains information compiled from autopsies performed by medical examiners across the state in 2003. During that period there were approximately 170,000 deaths. According to the report, 6,767 individuals examined had drugs in the system. Continue reading 6684 -some FL drug stats via fdle

6681 and so on.

Hey, happy Tuesday, dear journal.

Talked with wickenden briefly last night and experimented with hello‘s picture share/chat/host program some. Very nifty, indeed and quite easy to use. I may use my blogspot account as a backup gallery now. I dig the revision of “powered by blogger” button to the newer “I power blogger”, by the way.

In my email this morning –

We’ve noticed that customers who have purchased Battlestar Galactica – The Complete Epic Series (Limited Edition Cylon Head Packaging) also enjoy The A-Team – Season One on DVD. For this reason, you might like to know that The A-Team – Season One will be released on June 8, 2004 on DVD.

How would they enjoy it, if it hasn’t been released yet? Oh, you Dirk Benedict Fanciers!

I wonder how long it’ll be before they release a “A-Team : Next Gen” TV series… maybe with Bea Arthur as Hannibal and one of the Blonds from She-Spies as “Face” (Or would they call her something else?)

a couple of random piccies.

6679 Monday… let’s see what it brings me.

After work today, I’m going to go out and about. Not sure where, not sure how, but I’ll see something groovy as a result. Then I’ll come home and hug ol’ Newt. I brushed his teeth yesterday, and he just sat and took it like a champ. I’ll have to bring him home a fun new toy… maybe a big honkin’ cardboard box to sharpen his teeth on.

I’m a total entertainment / multimedia / sensory I/O cyborg. I have a Cell-phone, wifi pda (with mp3 player, doodling proggie and web browser), digicam, GPS, Laptop (wifi and has a DVD player…), and a TENS unit. Hooray for rechargeable batteries! I won’t even go into the Solar-powered rechargeable stuff. Oh,ok, I will. am/fm/sw radio, charges in the sun, and also runs on wind-up power. same goes for an awesome little waterproof LED flashlight.

Currently, the fave gizmo is the pda, as it’s on hand at all times, and is very useful. I only carry the cell phone and pda all of the time. Digicam about 20% of the time, the rest are usually on planned excursions, if they ever leave the house at all.

I’m glad I have Red-Furred Libras to make me smile and bring joy to my heart. I wish I could take Newt on more walkabouts, but a leash just makes him turn into a mooshy orange cat-shaped beanbag. The harness just de-bones him.

Oh, forgot to mention. I quite liked that there was a character named “Mongo” in Shrek 2.

Arms. I could mess with this for ages. (But then, I’m easily entertained.) Other cool stuff in an open directory. Pushy also gives me some perverse pleasure.

If I don’t find a condo in the next month, I think I’ll relocate to another place as a rental in the meantime. It’s practically summer, and the rates will be quite low.

I got a call yesterday and it said that one of the children was being treated medically for “Oppositional Defiant Disorder“… I didn’t know that could be treated with drugs. Do the drugs make someone more obedient, and pliable? I wonder how that would work in an army or other sort of conditioned behavior environment, like prison.

I also suspect that this is something that will be over-labeled and tried fro use on regular kids that are just being bratty, rather than ones with actual mental disorders.

Some almost surreal photos of an abandoned man-made island and other places. The lack of people and the ruined buildings give a nearly post-apocalyptic feel.

“Off the westernmost coast of Japan, is an island called “Gunkanjima” that is hardly known even to the Japanese. Long ago, the island was nothing more than a small reef. Then in 1810, the chance discovery of coal drastically changed the fate of this reef. As reclamation began, people came to live here, and through coal mining the reef started to expand continuously. Before long, the reef had grown into an artificial island of one kilometer (three quarters of a mile) in perimeter, with a population of 5300. Eventually, the mines faced an end, and in 1974 the world’s once most densely populated island become totally deserted. The island, after all its inhabitants departed leaving behind their belongings, became an empty shell of a city where all its people disappeared overnight, as if by some mysterious act of God.”

Whims Misses Sammy (who is on vacation on the west coast right now) and I think it’s sweet that they’re so fond of one another. It’s nice to see nice people be buds like that.

Dawn of the Dead on the player right now… the classic version. Got to love rust-colored shag carpet on the walls. Site Meter

Saw Shrek 2 last night, and it was worth seeing… cute. I like the first one better, but this one has a lot of good bits. On the way home, I saw a cat with something in his mouth… I wonder if it was one of the ducklings? I doubt it, because the mama-bird was so doting, but it was the right area for it to happen.

Doodled this while I was sitting in the theater. Thinking about doing another longish animation. I haven’t done one in a while. I wonder if the faint “Echo” is too hard to see. I was sort of going for a “sound bouncing off the wall” sort fo thing.
