Never did make it to Surrat house – Instead, we watched My Name is Bruce with Sean and Duncan. Teddy Grahams, hummus and hot dogs w/ kraut for all! Jay missed out, because he was sick at home.

Today was another stay at home day – took a hard walk around the neighborhood, and some chitty-chats with William Callas and Chris.

Visited Coffee Tea and Whimsy, and got some crabber crackers, a keychain giftie for BHK and caramel sauce for all!

Chris won her first-played game of Can’t Stop vs BHK and me, while Larry mowed the yard.

Later, the in-laws came back over for quiche with peas & broccoli from the garden, and we watched some ocean documntaries and ate vanilla ice cream with the aforementioned sauce… and blueberries!

Did I mention that BHK and I went to see Star Trek last Tuesday, dear journal? I seem to have skipped over it. I liked it just fine, thinking it’s #3 on my list of favorite star Trek movies, after #1 (Galaxy Quest) and #2 (Wrath of Khan). BHK enjoyed it, too, probably more than I did! We may be taking William to see UP on Tuesday matinee. (Which I’ve been looking more forward to than Trek, actually!)

Free pop tart day at cal tort ! BHK, Chris and I all went for supper, but none of us got the golden ticket entitling us to a year’s worth of free burritos – but we did get a happy 2nd place – they mis-made a bean burrito and a chicken quesadilla, and gave ’em to us gratis on the way out.

Went on walkabout, and they repainted the trolley stop sign -(see today’s photo) new hours on there. I didn’t get to ride last year, but I plan to take a 25¢ ride at least once or twice this season.

Happy Anniversary, LJ – 9 years doing entries. Hard to believe, though my posts of late have been petty scanty. I need to get back on the wagon and produce something I’ll want to look back on in a few years.

IN back news, I got my second epidural today… not working so great – may be due to scar tissue issues. next one will be injected through my side rather than the back, if I get another.

After my shot to the spine (pictures to follow), we visited at the in-laws for a few – had chinese food and hung out – Adam came over and played a little guitar with Larry and Stone.

Adam fessed up to trying adderall before his finals… not sure how happy  / unhappy I am with that. Not prescribed to him. Misuse can easily become abuse.

Watched Children of Men – not bad, but not mind-blowing, either. Worth seeing on tv, but perhaps not a non-netflix rental.

As always, Happy Birthday, Oneeyedcat! We Love you and yours!

We slept in this morning, after the late night out… Chris and Larry stopped by to check out the garden, and bring us some biscuits and bacon… (I focused on the former, BHK, the latter, of course.)

While folding laundry, We watched the first episode of Primeval: Season 3 . Looks like it’s off to a good start.

Later, Chris and Larry came back over, and we grilled, as is our thing lately… meat burgers for the in-laws, veggie-burgs for BHK and me. Baked beans, cole slaw, some of the most awesome corn on the cob of the season, and tasty mac & cheese. It’s hard to diet with this much good food nearby.

BHK made key lime pie for dessert, and we watched the end of The Last Templar – it started strong, but petered out – I can’t recommend it. I do recommend BHK’s key lime pie, though.

Newton demanded equal op art rights for Pye’s pic yesterday.

BHK got a massive collection of books and boardgames from freecycle today – enough for a new game a night for at least a week or three. Most of the books will be passed on to goodwill or mulch-too smoke damaged or not interesting enough to keep- but a few goodies in there.

We went to lunch with Chris at the BBQ place – I think BHK’s assessment of Chris just wanting to go out was right.

Spoke to mom on the phone – Bro getting a DNA test w/Shannon – Odds are good that he’s the dad, but it can’t hurt to be sure. (more sure?)

Jay, Duncan and Sean came over tonight for hot dogs and fixings – Jay and Dunc took off afterward, but Sean hung out to watch "Let the right one in" with BHK and me. I liked it more than BHK did. (I give it a 6/10 or so – BHK didn’t like the pacing, which I thought fit the story)

Ate breakfast on the deck with BHK, and slowly got moving today.

While she and Chris worked on the flower bed out front, I commenced to taking care of long overdue paperwork.

Happy Muddah’s Day, to all muddah types!

We celebrated mother’s day at clarke’s landing – seafood was ok, but not up to normal par. Chris liked it, and that was the goal.

Had a nice day – Larry had to go tend to Prom, so we came over to our place and watched Wuthering Heights.

I split time between the movie, and installing Adobe CS4 – got a good deal on it from a friend, and now I may finally take scottobear.com out of its old look. Still debating a theme, but it’ll be cleaner, and will incorporate bHK, pye, newt and myself all on our own pages.

Sex Attacks based on Bat Demon.

Men in parts of Tanzania’s main city, Dar es Salaam, are living in fear of a night-time sex attacker.

A BBC correspondent says the attacks are being blamed by some on a demon called “Popo Bawa” meaning winged bat.

Some men are staying awake or sleeping in groups outside their homes. Others are smearing themselves with pig’s oil, believing this repels attacks.

Reports of the demon’s existence have been common for many years in Zanzibar, where locals claim it originated.

The BBC’s John Ngahyoma in Dar es Salaam says not many people actually believe that the demon exists and there have been no sightings.

But Mbaruku Ibrahim, who hails from Zanzibar, says the story of the demon is common there and people in his village on Pemba island sleep beside a huge fire outside their houses whenever it is said to appear.

The story goes that the bat is able to transform itself into a man at night and it has also been blamed for rapes of women.

Sheikh Yahya Hussein, a prominent astrologer in Tanzania, claims that the demon is a spirit that is unleashed by witches to torment their opponents.

Belief in witchcraft and superstitions is widespread in Tanzania, especially in rural areas.

Nutshelling.

BHK and I have been married 30 months today!

Book fair at the BIG warehouse. I stocked up on some Bradbury, Phil Farmer, and Laura Lippman.

Got a little walking in, but there was no way I could haul the huge pile of books about.

BHK made Homemade chili – she thinks it’s burned, but I like it fine!

Lawn cut, and a lot of planting done by the family.

Dinner at Selby’s – Bought Larry a Lemon Meringue pie. Veggie sub was good – Linda the cook is in the hospital, but her replacement did a great job of making a sammich.

More wii games from the library. (Wario Shake it / Super Brawl) – Wario is cute, from an old-school Mario-brothers perspective. Super Brawl didn’t wow me.

Farmers Market – BHK and Chris picked up a great number of flowers and plants for the garden, I spent the day seated for the most part. 

Garden was dusted for slugs and bugs – hopefully the squirrels will stay out of the lettuce.

Got the 2nd book in the Nightside series at th library – #3 came via bookmooch, and #4 was the BIG book sale a few months back. another book sale tomorrow – I hope I’m up to making the rounds.
