Spellcheck thinks Chupa is Chapeau. I have a goatsucker for a hat!

An insanely cute collection of costumes for babies.… speaking of which, Mayah was in good form last night… she can push Cathi on the little kid scooter by putting weight into her toddles. Pretty good for a munchkin under a year old! Supper last night was veggie burger, salad and brownies for dessert. I fell asleep just about 5ish am, I estimate… and woke at about 9. I’ll probably take a midday nap to crank my juice back up a little. My sleep was a sound one… of the sort where it was an eye blink, and four hours had gone by. Took Luna and the baby for a walk, before dessert… Jack the evil dog was out there. I got to use my sonic boom authority voice on him.. “*GO HOME*”… he went to his yard and barked from there, after a few stern yells. I wonder where his owners were?

Went for a little bike ride with the bro this morn, and checked out a local yard sale. a couple of good items… a nice pup tent, bed rolls, an ancient laptop, lots of unusual tools… hatchet, crowbar, pickaxe… and a couple of books all looked good, but I abstained on all but two tomes… Chronicles of Robin Hood, and Great American Ghost Stories. I rather like yard sales, just because you get to look at all the loot… form a mental snapshot of the person selling the stuff. Did they get a new tent? Did the family member that liked to camp pass away? Was this stuff found left behind in the house?

I’d like to have psychometry. As long as I could turn it on or off at will. The last thing I need is to get readings off of my clothes and sheets’ last trip in the washing machine, let alone the scene of a violent crime or other off-putting act.

Chupaaaaa!!!The history channel’s doing a documentary on Bigfoot and Other Monsters –

The mermaid, Abominable Snowman, giant squid, and dragons are all parts of myths and mysteries. But are some real? The Komodo Dragon was merely the stuff of local legend–until the dinosaur-like, very real giant reptile with an orange tongue and a fierce disposition was tracked down. Giant squids, measuring as long as 100 feet, have been found to really exist. We’ll explore every possible explanation for these and other legendary creatures and find out if some might really exist. Current Flavor – Chupacabra!… a personal fave.

Speaking of mermaids… I’m thinking nice thoughts of my sweetheart… hoping that she’s digging her day and is feeling my admiration and love for her. She’s had an even more busy week than myself…here’s to her being able to sink into a warm, fragrant tub of bathwater, scented with exotic oils, and gentle unwinding.

hmm… brother got a GPS from a shady character he knows for $20. (I really think that it’s $20 he should’ve saved for other things, but the gizmo is neat.)

I’m going to set it up for him… put some rechargeable batteries in there, set up some maps. looks like a fun toy to take on trips… maybe I can get him into geocaching. I think he’d enjoy that.

These are the ones that are local to us... maybe we can plan a little expedition for some weekend.

The general rule of thumb is, “take an item, leave an item, write in the logbook.” Some caches are themed, so make sure to read the description before going on a hunt.

this is the place I want to hit. a local park.

Off to work for now. See you later, Dear journal.

I never noticed before, but each major chattie has it’s own color. Yellow aim, green icq, blue msn, red yahoo. The new version of trillian has little colored circles rather than logos for each active. Pretty neat to me, for some reason. My connection to all of them comes on like a little drag-racer pole position light up… “Prepare to qualify”.

Jerry Falwell — yes, he’s flapping his yap again — has concluded from “reading Muslim and non-Muslim writers” that Muhammad was a terrorist. Which is kind of interesting, because from reading interviews with Jerry Falwell a lot of people have concluded that Jesus was a redneck, right-wing bigot. Holy men: Great ideas, bad PR representation. Why do the dumbasses seem to often get the loudest voices?

Slow day for the homepage…

Today’s my brother’s birthday. Another year seeps in like a fairy fart under a cellar door. He’s thirty. Hard to believe, really…I still think of him as the tow-haired six year old kid who liked to go fishing off the pier. I wonder how he’d like to celebrate? I’ll give him my best wishes tonight, and take him out this weekend for supper and gifties. I’ve already burned him a few Type O Negative, Megadeath, and White Stripes CD’s.

Misc fun linkies and info I’ve obtained via the mail yesterday… they build up when I don’t read for a day.

It appears that electromagnetism and gravity may influence each other. This would be pretty incredible if it is verified.

Dialtones is a large-scale concert performance whose sounds are wholly produced through the carefully choreographed dialing and ringing of the audience’s own mobile phones.

Addictive headline generator. It looks like this thing polls for new headlines and randomly cuts them up Burroughs style.

The Forbes Fictional Fifteen Oooh…it must PO Lex Luthor that Bruce Wayne is worth so much more.

Random Tour guide store about underground Seattle:

When he was nearly thirteen my brother Jem got his arm badly broken…

I want to just goof off today.

I’d like to get to work, have someone offer to take me out to a long lunch near my house, and have Kev call mid-payment of the check, and have them drop me at home… so I can return on Thursday, refreshed.

Erica in accounting (She’s been at the company for five years, from 16 to 21…) gave her week’s notice on Monday.

Another victim of the hubbub here at work, and not wanting to work with the Finn too closely. More’s the pity… ol’ Rico is an excellent worker, and a good person. We keep swapping out wheat for more chaff… I wonder who’s next to call it a day?

Taken out for potato pancakes. That’d be nice.

Next week or so is birthday week… Bro and Kev.. This weekend it’s going to be prezzie time. Bro’s easy, Kev… I’ll have to roam the software and toy store aisles, and see what calls my name. Also sweetheart’s Lj-versary.

Newt’s Birthday is first week next month, and sweetheart’s is the second week. They’re both easy to shop for too. Then I’ll be set.

Beat the Geeks on Ben Stein’s Money… I suspect the geeks’ show is dying, to have to guest star elsewhere. I don’t like the movie geek “Marc”…he gives me a weird vibe. The TV and music geeks look like they could carry a pleasant conversation though.

Sending more healing vibes to my sweetheart… she’s still sicky, :(…. *huggo-lovies-mendo-fixits* it seems to be going around, too. Everyone should be drinking lots of fluids, and resting!

Enough dawdling… time for me to head out. I think I’m going to spoil myself a little today, and get a big, hot lunch of something really good tasting, and probably not too good for my health.

Have a happy, dear journal.

Sweetheart – in the works. possibly multiple designs. Playing with femo. Fun .:)

Dan – black t-shirt with swirly orange and white design on the front, maybe his name on the back? Brown/rust colored pants, black sneakers, and his moustache. Maybe a little blue leg brace on his right knee, too. (Don’t put on his bald spot, be nice, Scotto.)

Brother – Surf-shorts, t-shirt, long hair, sandals. Maybe a surfboard?

Holy Viagra, Batman! maybe not safe for work…

Well, Ford has given up on making electric-only cars. That’s pretty sad. I would love to see electric-only cars (instead of hybrid) ruling the highways. Personally, I never heard of their car, the THINK. It looks kinda dippy, but cute…very much like it was designed for a non-US market.

Even the limited range would work perfectly for me… (6 hours to charge a battery and you can go 53 miles. Seeing as I live within a 20 mile trip, it’d work out ok, but they need to up the ante for the bigger commuters, and plugging in at work might be a no-no, too, depending on the trickle draw) I hope hybrids can bridge the gap, eventually.

My new favorite online dictionary – Onelook… where else could I discover this – Hungarian – lóvé : money Non-count noun. Originally a gypsy word. ‘Tele van lóvéval’ means he is loaded with money. Love=money! Other good slang expressions there, too. Probably not safe for work.

Factoids not about Scotto-

  • A necropsy is an autopsy on animals.
  • 0.3% of all road accidents in Canada involve a moose.
  • 13 people a year are killed by vending machines falling on them.
  • Behram, an Indian thug, holds the record for most murders by a single individual. He strangled 931 people between 1790-1840 with a piece of yellow and white cloth, called a ruhmal.
  • The most murders by a woman is 610 young women, by Countess Erzsebet Bathory of Hungary. (So she could bathe in and drink the blood) between 1560 and 1615.

Tropical paradise made from recycled bottles

If you can’t afford beachfront real-estate, why not make your own?

A British carpenter who dreamed of living on a private sunshine isle built himself one using 250,000 plastic bottles.
Richie Sowa spent four years making the floating Spiral Island, which measures 66ft by 54ft, weighs 60 tons and has three sandy beaches.

The mangrove-covered paradise, which is anchored off the coast of Mexico, includes a two-bedroom house with a large living room and kitchen.

The walls are made from palm trees and the roof is plastic sheeting.

Richie hopes to make the island totally self-sustainable and is growing food including tomatoes.

Here’s an article about what we’ve done regarding Saudi oil in the last year...the short version, we’re still giving them a pile o’ money. I’d think boycotting them and getting our juice from other sources would be a stronger message to the world than declaring war. No one body is to blame… Democrats and republican both should be ashamed of how little they’ve done.

Looks like art conspiracy has decided to stop remote hosting… bah! I guess I’ll start using msn’s host, until I fill it up… I hate having little picture-holes in my journal, though. I should go back, and update with a link to the site, so people can connect directly to there to see.

A year ago today… That crazy Anne Heche interview, and pygmies are real!

Two years ago – silly answering machine message, and Frank Sinatra.

Ahh… long weekend ahead, all my chores are done, and a thunderstorm outside. Looks like I lost power while out to laundry…several thooming bolts from the blue went off a few hours ago, and my VCR’s LEDs are blinking. I probably should get a small ups for the TV and its accessories.

Newt welcomed me home with a loud hello-mer…. I wonder if the thunder spooked him? Quite affectionate right now, so I’m off to lounge and snuggle.

Oh! My brother the entrepreneur decided to use the packing for my computer desk into a nicely lettered sign – parking $5, all day… honk twice. Smart kid… making use of the nearby art festival and his lack of a car to turn a buck.

I’m fresh off the phone with Dave. He’s got some sort of Mac Virus that’s changing all of this data to Pc format, or some such. I really couldn’t help him out too much… he’s using os 9ish, and my strengths are really on Unix & Windows type machines.

First rule of business… *back up your data files regularly*.

I think that he’ll be ok, but has a few hours of fix-up ahead of him…. no envy here.

I’m glad that B-boy is doing well…I was concerned about his health… speaking of which, my brother’s getting better, but slowly. He’s been cutting back on the smokes… one pack every three days, rather than a pack a day… I hope that he can shave it down to removing it.

Looks like he’s kicking his roommate out… something like the fourth month in a row he couldn’t pull his side of the rent. (The roomie can go live with his mom, until he gets his act together). I agree with the bro’s decision… the roomie’s not landing in the street.

I’m not looking forward to the anniversary of Sept 11… I fear it’ll be a big political bit of noise. I know that I had enough trouble the first time around.

I forgot to mention earlier that at the toy store, aside from the recorder, I picked up a little 25mm scale play set with a police station, fire station, parking garage, a few civilians to go with the police and firemen, a fountain with a horse stature in the middle, a couple of trees, assorted vehicles including a paddy wagon, helicopter, fire engine, and a little train engine and tanker car. Cheap for $10. (Marked down from $15) Newton had a field day with all the twist-ties that came with… and likes to sit inside the fresh cardboard box.

By the way… Yahoo maps doesn’t do the best route to the local bookstore…purple is the path that they choose… flashing red is mine. As an added bonus, I get to ride through the park, wave at the squirrels, and watch kids practice soccer. The other route goes far out of its way… I’d at least think that the path logic would go to 6th, and shoot straight north. Fewer lights, more direct route. image cut to spare folks not wanting to see a flashing pic.

Well, Kev’s sis will be in ICU for a few more days, but she seems to be doing well. I’m making up a goodie bag for her now, so Kev can take it to her tomorrow.

Let’s see. A Few Tick Comic Books…Copy of the Dangerous lives of altar boys, and Nightmare of Ecstasy… (Ed wood Bio.) I think that’ll keep her happy for a little while.

No foodie-goodies for her… on an IV, and only allowed shaved ice to suck on. When she gets out, we’ll have to get her a tasty can or three of Hawaiian punch.

Looks like a colostomy bag for a few months, but it’s better than having it for life. I don’t imagine she’s taking it too well… she’s pretty sensitive. I really can’t visit until she’s out of ICU.

In other news… Apartment cleaned, and I have groceries for the week. Brother has asthma pretty bad, so he’s chilling out today.

My Brother brought over a package for me that he signed for yesterday… It’s invader zim! 32 episodes of tasty, freaky, Zimmy goodness. Thanks dcl! Coolio Labels, too. I look forward to watching them with much pleasure. I’ll get to learn how my DVD drive deals with VCDS.

Newt’s taken to giving me a pre-dawn wakeup call again. I need to find his settings, and adjust him to “one hour after dawn, or so”. At least I’ve found his snooze button… soft fuzzy underbelly.

Fun fact – French are born with tails, which are later removed.

Word of the day – fumbuckery. (I dig spoonerisms.) It describes the functionality of midday meetings.

I want to make homemade ice cream by rolling a bucket back and forth to my sweetie. Strawberry, maybe.

Chuck E. Cheese can cause nostalgia, and nightmares. I tend to side with Mr. Munch.

If you think your pregnancy test should be private, wait until you read this. The new Florida adoption law says that if you don’t know the father of your baby and you want to let someone adopt the baby, you have to list all the possible fathers of your child in the newspaper.

When background searches fail to locate the birth father, the mother must place legal notices about the adoption in a local newspaper where the child was conceived.

In the notice, the mother must list her name, describe herself, name or describe the possible father or fathers and list the date and the city or county of conception.

Well, Laundry is done!

I woke and slept in staggering shifts all night and part of the morning. I only remember a fragment of a dream…I was sitting indian-style on the floor at work, because my pants were ripped for some reason.

My brother was going to pawn his Ps2 to cover old debts…I told him I’d lend him whatever money he needed…he told me to hang onto his playstation as incentive for him to pay him back… I told him ok, but that if he really wanted it back, he could come and get it. Meantime, I have a playstation in the house. Kind of nifty to have a DVD player that’s not attached to a hard drive. (I give him three days before he’s bored out of his gourd, and wants it back. ;))

Games are – Spiderman, GTA3, a surfing game, a racecar game, a football game, a soccer game, motocross, and skateboarding.

I’m enjoying Spidey… Bruce Campbell does the tutorial and narrator voice-overs, and it’s pretty fun…. but I think that I’ll be taking a nap soon, to try to recover my electrical charge, and remove this little headache-seed that’s beginning to bloom.

The Premo’s subs by the Laundromat makes a fantastic veggie sub! Big and filling! *pats tummy* Fountain Root beer, and a choc-chip cookie for dessert. I’m set for a while.

Two years ago today, they implemented interests on LJ… I’m still disappointed that they limit them to 150 now.

Thick, hard rain just came out of *nowhere* that’s my bedtime cue. seeya, dear journal!

silly spam… why would *I*, the jolly green giant want human growth hormone?

Found out today that my accumulated sick time doesn’t accumulate. my 99.9123 hours left has been nullified, and I lost 3 days of my vacation time as a result. what it boils down to is that they stole over two weeks of paid time off from me, in case I have to do any hospital time. Also, they’ve told me that I have to use my vacation time before next June, because it no longer accumulates too, it resets.

I’m going to see if they can give me my 240 hours of vacation partially in pay, then… because there’s no way that I’ll just throw money away… or, if they like, I’ll just take a week off every month for the next six months. Somehow, I don’t think that they’ll let that happen. Same thing happened to Kev, and he’s got more time built up than I do!

After all is said and done, from now on I’ll get three personal days, three weeks vacation, and three sick days a year. Since I’m salaried, they don’t count any day that I’m in for at least four hours off of my time…. so I foresee a lot of 2-6 workdays in my future, too. ; P

I bet my dad would’ve made one of these for me as a kid.

Dang. Scientists in Australia are testing a new jet (called a scramjet) that may allow air travel at eight times the speed of sound. That would theoretically allow you travel around the world in about 5 hours.

Coming soon: New hackable kids toys. Can you imagine hacking the Instant Messaging stream and making the toys swear? Or saying things like “There’s a monster in your closet. I saw it. I’m your pal.” Oh, I can see so many cool and evil uses for those.

You thought telemarketers are annoying? How about commuter-quizzers? – Motorists on a busy interstate were flagged down at random to participate in a marketing survey about attitudes on a proposed high-speed railway to be built along the highway. Needless to say many of those “selected” were rather off-put by the tactics of the marketing company, and quite a few expressed their doubts about the legality of the operation.

I’ve got nice pot of earl gray tea.

I’m going to hit the sack fairly early tonight… catch up with my battery charging. I’m going to read a little bit before bed, though. I hope that tonight I get a full line of snooze in.

Nighty night, dear journal.
