I’m going to write you a reality check…or would you prefer the cold, hard cash of truth? -The Tick

Wow, Wachovia lets you do things *easily*

I set up a nice checking/savings system over the web, and I got a human to call me back in about an hour to verify stuff.. it’ll be open by Tuesday for me to drop my funds into. easy as pie.

Off to a good start, unlike the lamebrains at Washington mutual. Service means something to me… service with better interest rates.. yum!

Tomorrow’s Journey…I’m going to head out at approximately 11 am for Lost realms… (the gaming store that Mark works at now) I may take Dave or the Bro with… I invited Sappho, and by extension, Riker, but I don’t think that they’re going to come along.

If by bus (should Dave not be able to go – )
Route 81 to Lauderhill Mall,
From there take the 18 North to Boca (Sandalfoot & 441)

Lost Realms – 23066 sandalfoot Drive (maybe a short walk to get to it from the stop.)

Pick up Zombies game, Zombies 2, and bag o’ glow in the dark zombies. plus maybe some terrain, craft supplies and whatever impulse buy crosses my path. Oh, and a New bus pass…this one dies on the 20th.

Here’s what I could have, if only I responded to spam sent to me today – (this is just from 5pm on, I purged my email then)

  • Get Free Shipping on any Adult Video or DVD
  • A Diet Success Story
  • End your tax problems
  • Penis Enlargment!! (spelling error included)Gain 2+ Inches GUARANTEED)
  • Add Inches! Gain 1 to 3 inches on your penis (different place… does that mean I get 3-5+ inches? that’d be unwieldy.)
  • Immediate Debt Help. Eliminate Up To 70% of…
  • Work from home, earn THOUSANDS! (I got four of these…)
  • FIXED term Mortgage at 3.25%, Never Again! (Two of these)
  • Amazing Discovery Coral Calcium

A picture of a tombstone got me to thinking….

Discovered that the only email I seem to get from Bigfoot is spam, anyway. Let it bounce, I say.

bigger tombstone, actual scribble sizebetter looking shrunkenI feel that the resized version actually helps the tombstone out… smoothes it more comfortably, and kills the jaggies.

Reflecting on the little service tunnels in the Boynton Beach mall. when they were building it, my brother and I would run around in there, and I played lazer tag (that spelling always bugged me… it’s LASER! Acronym! Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation! Like SCUBA, or NASA) in them with my buddies at the time. The perfect place to run and hide was underneath the escalators being built… reminds me…when I was a child, I remember having nightmares about escalators. They were in department stores, so underneath them, bathed in the green light, lived the mannequins. Where else would they live when they weren’t wearing clothes? a whole nation of subterranean naked mannequins…maybe it’s just me, but it’s still sort of scary.

I just looked at the mall food directory… the Taco Viva (yikes… whose nephew did they get to do the homepage?) I first worked at is gone. Fun times in the giant freezer, with rubber gloves full of frozen “el scorcho” sauce, set up to look like a lopped off arm… the mop dipped in hot water, and then slapped against the roof, freezing it there. I wonder which place replaced it? I didn’t know that Taco Viva, like Burger King and Miami Subs got its start in South Florida… I wonder if it’s just a local phenomenon? Weird… the first Taco Viva that ever opened was launched exactly a year and a day before I was born. I still remember the horrible Clint Eastwood “Mirage” commercials of folks lost in the desert, only to find a Viva oasis… (MM! over salted, spicy food when you’ve been trapped in thirsty heat!) When the person said “MmmM! Great taco, it all evaporated, because “he didn’t say viva…” “When you say taco, say viva” was the tagline. This is what the viva looked like, to a degree. A 3-d drawing of the old place… very strange seeing it like that, something like 17 years later. Thing is, they have far better food than Taco Bell… fresher, better portions, and serve beer with the meal in the food court. When I gamed with the Colinas, it was a regular mall staple. (Though they eventually turned me on to the much cheaper bell )Now I wonder if there are any Perkins or Lums left. (After research, Perkins, big yes, Lums… mehbeh.)

Anyhow, running around the mall after hours, whooping loudly, and laughing with the big security guard guy… what was his name? PJ? Something like that. I can’t remember but he was a nice guy, though sort of creepy because he was 30ish and seemed immature to us 16-year-old guys. A giant empty mall is the best place to play lazer tag, ever. Especially if you have two teams of about six people each.

Parting Quote from Norville “Shaggy” Rogers –

Hey, lady! Like, I thought this was America? I don’t want to live in a country where four hippies and a talking dog can’t have the freedom to catch fake ghosts with the occasional help of Phyllis Diller or the Harlem Globetrotters! That’s my America! And while you may not agree with my opinion, you’re not gonna change it!

Last but surely not least…
HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY LITTLE LEXIE LUTHOR!

Rather cool out this morning…. quite nice, really. Tomorrow, I’m going to remember the GPS, and measure my downhill speed over the drawbridge. I suspect that I’m hitting 25ish mph there. (But I could be vastly overestimating) Note to big-breasted women with too-small bras… the “split-boobie foursome” look isn’t good. Find a top that fits, please. I worry that a too-tight brassiere is cutting off circulation, or is painful in some way.

This weekend I’m swinging by PPF to pick up a bag of 100 glow in the dark zombies, and the Zombies!!! game… a friend there is giving me an employee discount, where he’s throwing in the extra zombie-bag for free! I’ve got to make a point to send a few zombies to friends and family.

Some maintenance guys doing yard work out back… Newt’s fascinated. It’s impressive to me that he’s not frightened of the noise. I think that if he got near a blower, he’d take off, though.

A pic of newt from a few months ago... I'm thinking of submitting it to kittypix or color theory

Spiky, sporadic dreams last night… I don’t remember them too well, because I neglected to commit them to memory right as I woke. I do remember that they were pleasant for the most part, but some adrenaline in there, too.

I’m air?

I almost forgot!

I saw Ray (not Colina, but Gaming Locksmith Ray) on the way to work this morning. I smiled and waved, after he caught my attention with his horn. (I was cycling to the terminal). He’s looking pretty good. It’s probably terrible of me to say this, but I’m glad that he’s not married to Heather anymore. He surely deserves better than to have her in his life. I’ve got very little bad to say about Ray… he’s a friendly goofus, who delights in a little creative storytelling now and then. I wonder if he and Rose are still going out? She seemed to be a good cohort for him.

Current fun toy… RISK clone for the palmtop… called “Worldwar” very addictive, and quite challenging. My skill is at me vs three medium, one hard opponent… I’ll win about half the time. one more easy opponent thrown in as a wildcard will cause me to win more often, as I leave him to the sharks players.

Work was thick today… I managed to get through it, though Island boy didn’t check his documentation as thoroughly as he might’ve before going on a trip. No sweat, I got through the roughest patch, but a couple hours of my time were wasted relearning and adjusting to how things worked, rather than how they were (or were not) written down.

Monday and Tuesday will be better, unless some other goofy curveball comes my way. I hope not. My poor sweetheart has been trapped in a work vortex lately too… I hope we both pull out of ’em soon!

I want a magic pebble to wash all of my clothes, and clean my apartment for me. I’m too shucky-darn tired to do it tonight and I’m not going to want to do it tomorrow, either. (but I will… gots to have the clean clothes.)

Also, sort of old, but worth putting in here…for posterity.

Latest custom…A quickie easy one after how tricky my sweetheart was.

Quicksilver, before customizingCustom Danny Fig.... hmm, I hope he still likes it, even though he dislikes heroclix, now. Got a little lazy... He's got Jean shorts the same color as QS's leggings.

Sort of hard to see Dan’s signature black shoes, but I like how he came out. I think he’ll be tweaked to have longer pants, though. More Danny’s style. I’m glad he’s got a grape knee-brace, instead of a blue one. blue’d be tough to contrast vs. jeans.

Kev’s get together went well… buds for supper, aliens vs predator 2 (my giftie to him) and then a viewing of “A Shot in the Dark“. A relaxing, humorous time. His sister’s doing well, only six more weeks of the colostomy bag, before she can go back to using her original plumbing.

ugh! why are my msn linked photos only showing up as thumbnails? as a side effect, my links also are not working.

TheAir conditioner’s compressor sounds funky… we’ll have to see if it makes it through the night. I suspect the LL is going to have to replace the unit.

ah well, time for bed… lots of chores to do tomorrow morn, before my playtime!

woke up this morn, no soreness at all, but a trifle groggy. that cleared up about five or ten minutes afterwards… but by the time I’d shaken the cobs free, it seems that last night’s dreams also departed, too. only fragment I remember was redesigning something… maybe making a toy or a model.. something with my hands.

Newtcam!
potato chip amphitheatre is mostly obscured by three brown columns… strange to see a crane hanging down into the image.. like a skyhook, attached to nothing. Not rainy today, yet.

How gullible are you? I got two questions wrong. (The Toilet one… and Chabungungamung Pond.)

I want to implement this on my homepage, in a guestbook. a more permanent guestmap.

I’m the thidmost southern member!

update 10/13/02 –

500 point game, Dave victory. Well done, pretty even
300 point game, my victory.. it was pretty much a landslide. He took out my one close-combat guy, and my ranged attacks finished him pretty quickly afterwards.

Home again, home again, jiggety jig.

I never did get those brownies.

Grocery shopping Saturday will include them. Also, Scotto, remember to go to that uber wal-mart just to see what it looks like late night.. and maybe get a tackle box there for storage of little army guys.

This coming week has so many things happening! Starting with payday tomorrow…and Isidore on Saturday. I’m guessing that it’ll just be wetski, though.

Thinking about my 7th grade year. There’s a great feature on Apple’s web site about Cosmic Encounter Online. I played this obsessively when it was a board game. I can’t wait to check it out online.

I’m thinking about Blackie under the raspberry bush, and wondering how Newto’d do with a plant in the house.

Looks like Tropical Storm Isidore is going to get us wet, but not blown. Still pretty variable… Rainfall estimates ranged from 3 to 25 inches. Feet of rain! I’m glad that I live someplace with good drainage! (We’ve already lowered the canals to be extra ready.) We’re already 10 inches above normal this year.

Realvideo weather channel clip

Found a new nearby hobby store… maybe I can get some custom terrain there at a reasonable cost. They’re open on Sundays! Hoody-hoo!

I put a bunch of my old magic cards up on mkrealms’ neutral grounds for trade… maybe I’ll find a MtG monkey that will give me toys (or even spending money) for my cardboard!

Sometimes I think that Newt’s Amber eyes are turning just the littlest bit green…but it might just be a trick of the light.

Speed of light broken with basic lab kit. I’m not as interested in the applications of this so much (since, as the article says, it doesn’t mean we’ll have warp drives or time machines anytime soon) as the low cost & ease of doing it. It’s like Edison & Tesla!

Carpe Vultus – Man is driving car. Man has seizure. Man crashes car into Woman’s car. Woman sues – not for the damage done to her car (one would assume insurance covers that), but because she was freaked out by the bizarre faces Man Having Seizure was making. Woman wins, Man has to pay £3,500 in compensation. Ugh… well, at least it’s not in the USA this time…we can point fingers at other legal systems for stupid lawsuits too.

one month until a special day! (30 days, anyhow)

Recently heard –

“Rave is nothing like disco! Disco was crappy, cheesy electronic music, ugly expensive clothes, lousy dancing, drugs up the ass and wild sex! Rave is… uh, um.. well we don’t have wild sex… oh, forget it.”

Played Mageknight with Dave earlier, I won two out of three games. (I won a 300 and a 200-pt, he won the final 200-point) His winning tactic was a good one… send in fliers with area effect attacks to nail me from behind, while I wasted time spinning around to get my firing arcs in line with the enemy… then sending in big muscle to finish the job. Plus, he killed off my medic just about first thing. Excellent methodology.

My way of winning is usually a static artillery, and formation movement… taking advantage of cutting off his ranged attackers by going into close combat quickly with his weaker elements. I need to download and print these out… my special abilities card doesn’t list the circles. Unlimited special abilities card Dungeon special abilities card

for the record… I’m guilty of liking both disco and rave music.

Soon, the new building going up will hide the potato-chip looking amphitheatre… drat.

A year ago today – Ziito, Vulkon, and helpful hints re: gremlins. A year and a day ago, my sweetheart sang to me.

Two years ago – Bon Jovi, present reminder, and federal spending thoughts.

Lucasarts plans to release a sequel to the very, very awesome PC adventure game, hopefully in 2004. Here’s the press release. He that pulls the linoleum knife from this mailman shall be rightwise born king of England! See also this.

Healing vibes to my sweetheart… *beambeambeam*

Dork alert… Atari Adventure mod for quake. Holy moley, how cool is that?

If you’ve got the bandwidth and QuickTime, watch lots of robots… really lovely. Open it in another window and keep surfing while it loads, if you have to.

Sweet! edbook has put up a portfolio of his work… nice!

Friday the Thirteenth really is no big whoop to me. No worries. Nothing creepy or unexpected has happened yet…the normal aches, pains, smiles and joys that’ve been with me all week are still here.

Of the people at work I thought knew about world affairs, none knew who I was talking about when I referenced Idi Amin(Maybe one of the worst dictators since Hitler), Pol Pot and Papa / Baby Doc… I admit that it sometimes takes me a while to catch up with current events… but these guys are big time evil, and a major element in world history. When folks can kill in the hundreds of thousands or more and not be known…how does that work? Maybe it’s because I watched the news at home during the 70s and 80s, and it was current events? Looks like a job for a poll…

The Finn, Island Boy, Sappho and Kev…None had ever heard of any of ’em, save for Kev recognizing Idi Amin from an old SNL game show skit…but not knowing who he was.

On another note… I want to see the giant land squid and flying killer fish!

Random Scotto factoid – My aliases on trade wars back in the old BBS turn-based online wargames were – Rev Scotto, Tristan Thunyduway, Balder the Brave, and Boog the Ogre.

Sketches from the palm from the last day or two…I left the screen color on, instead of my usual forcing of black and white. Hover over for what was/is on my mind regarding them.

cow... Her name is Bingo, and she's much prettier in real life.Lunch on Wednesday! yum... Mimmo's makes good pizza. The Pod house! This is where pods live.... Newt planted the daisy. :)A loud-as-heck fire engine passed the bus on the way to work yesterday.... after having my ears split, it won WOD.
