I still have the Frito Banditio theme popping up into my brain here and there.

Weird about the lag in the picture posts.. repeated itself twice, about 2 hours after the original post.I’ll have to make a point of waiting a bit longer before re-sending.

The people of Hialeah are idiots. (See the political record for the last 24 years.) A long term case of “we’d rather have corrupt criminals we know than a possible unknown quantity”.

Big Kahuna’s B’day today… maybe that’s why she had a case of the grumps yesterday. She’ll be 67 today, I think, and I figure that she’s got a solid two decades ahead of her, at least. Sadly, I don’t see more than a decade (and that’s probably generous) for her husband though.

Rhode Island was due back on Monday, and as of end of day yesterday still hadn’t come back. Rumors flying over the office of her quitting, but I doubt it. My suspicions are that she’s just stretching it out as far as possible.

I’m wondering what to do with my vacation.

Muslim Mona quit tech-work yesterday… I guess her real-world job, plus family, plus health just didn’t allow for four days a month. She’ll be missed… was probably the most competent tech I had. En’s really solid, too…only a couple of boo-boos here and there. Phoenix’s getting her first training today at 1pm, barring schedule issues.

Growing out the goat for a full beard again in prep to be a bit of a Santa for December.

Still feeling a little mopey, and more than a little like a cave-bear. I’m really just not in the mood for interaction with loud, noisy little peeps today. Both Friday and Monday have been cranky workdays. Today would do well to change the pattern.

Usually, Autumn will lower gravity, not raise it.

Poor Herm got her ankle hurt on vacation… I hope she’s feeling better soon. Sweeties shouldn’t get owies.

Not nearly enough time with MP yesterday. Had supper with Danny ad Subway, and we gabbed a bit. He brought me a present of The Bard’s Tale, which was a pleasant surprise. I haven’t installed it yet, but it looks like fun. I forgot to get my Tiki Cup.

I told MP that I thought about her snuggled close when I went to sleep at night. She replied playfully “you don’t think about me during the day?” and gave me a triple-threat smooch. (both cheeks, and then on the kisser.) She’s flattered when I wear the cologne she got me. She also told me that she didn’t want me to suffer while she’s gone.. I’ll be pretty cool, I think, as long as she heads back to the states in Sept like she plans. I’ll be fairly peeved if that doesn’t come to pass.

Bro talked to me, and he told me that he hadn’t seen me put on my rage-face on like I did when that whole almost-fight happened en route to the bus station. I haven’t had to manhandle my bro in ages, and I think he was surprised when I kind of pulled him out of the way and intervened between him and the other guy.

There’s a part of me that *really* wanted to commit violence on the BS-guy. Pounding the devil out of him, and taking a few hits would’ve been cleansing. That sort of behavior is wholly inappropriate, but the caveman inside would’ve been happy for a few minutes.

I wouldn’t mind a sparring partner or a good long session smacking the heavy bag.

Forehead Inflation. – via temporary saline injection – Maybe not for the squeamish.

I’ve got the Nairobi Trio playing Solfeggio in my head over and over. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

I miss the Ernie Kovacs show.

What the heck… over 800 hits yesterday on the easter manatee entry? What’s causing folks to go back to the end of march back to tag it? it’s not direct picture links.. it’s the entry itself. different locations, assorted browsers… and it’s not from google or yahoo search. no referral links.

When I got home last night, they were tearing down the little 2-bedroom house in my backyard. That’s a shame… I think that little building had been there since the 1930s or before. Cute little Key West-style place done in white with navy blue trim. I can now look out my bedroom window and see two streets over.

I rather think that I preferred the cozy sense of privacy that I had before, but we’ll see if I change my mind over the next couple of days. I wonder how this’ll effect security and flyby factor for the next major storm?

The street lamp bleeds a little mor [brief visit from Newt-foot on keyboard – /././../] e illumination over now.

Newt was watching the earthmover equipment with fascination…I wonder what he thought they were, from his point of view? I suspect he was more interested in the noise that they were making than anything else.

I didn’t even know the guy in the house had moved out. My brother used to hang out with the tenant’s son, a bodybuilder guy that eventually went to jail for some sort of assault / battery charge on a cop.

I have to remember to let GrayPumpkin see this.

How to steal the most chair-space possible. Sleeping on a double-wide seat, and running legs over the three across the front. I call it the “rude bum” maneuver, because it takes seats from the elderly and disabled.. usually by vagrants that want a place to snooze for whole trips. Additionally, he’s got a shirt over his head so you don’t know what’s underneath.. it could be the elephant man. It could be Brad Pitt. 6888 – Saturday, off call!

Downloaded and watched 50 first dates.. very typical sandler movie, cute and silly. Nice night.. not many missings to interfere.

Off to lunch and then Ghost in the Shell 2 this afternoon.. Sammy said it was great, so I’ll follow that lead. (I don’t know how fond I am of the acronym “GitS”.

I like the term “tuber” for potatoes. I don’t like it for people floating down a river.

Kong is King – You can watch as Peter Jackson builds the new King Kong movie. (Video production diary on the right) Weird that Andy Serkis (Gollum) will be providing motion capture and facial expressions for the computer generated King Kong. (He was ruled ineligible for a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 2003 Academy Awards because his character Gollum in Lord of the Rings onscreen was computer generated.)

Pretty cool… a lot of anonymous activity in last Sunday’s entry… folks debating about heading down to Orlando this for the honeymoon. I agree, it might be a good idea to postpone. It’s rare that I see anonymous non-spam activity. Hope the entry is helpful!

I got 17 out of 18 on the arcade sound quiz. (I missed the one about Zelda/FF/Bad Dudes – I was never a good nintendroid.)

Why is something so destructive, so lovely?

Danny likes “reality tv”.

Amish in the City and the Survivor series, in particular.

I remain a skeptic and suspect behind the scenes scripting.

Big Kahuna has been very generous to me lately. I think that having a work ethic while other people act like little punks might have something to do with it. I got a new chair, she offered to take some call this weekend, and some other nice fringes. Hopefully that’ll mean a raise sometime soon, too.

Heartbreaking case last night… old man with Alzheimer’s. He’s a habitual wander off, and apparently his caregivers can’t give him the attention he needs. He’s constantly taking off on his family. The last time he took off, he had a moment of clarity and tried to commit “suicide by cop”.

Now none of my LJ mail is making it to me automatically. Forgive me if I don’t reply immediately.

I’ve had lovely chats with Sammy, Whims, Phillykat, Jen and K lately… it seems I only rarely get pinged from AIM, ICQ, or MSN anymore, with last night being a pleasant exception.

Speaking of the first two… I’m glad to hear Sammy’s back in CoH, and There’s having trouble opening up on my system. I think it’s something to do with the new update. Reinstalled, and it works fine now. Had a grand time running around and getting reacquainted with folks.

Duran Duran got back together… Why couldn’t it have been The Talking Heads ? (A whole album is streamable from there.)

That Bag lady yesterday has increased her stuff, and the amount of totes to go with. She has a walker, a shopping cart, a personal grocery cart, and a large carpetbag full of stuff. She asked me if the republican national convention had started yet.

I think I’m going to set the palm cam to 320 x 260… the double size just seems to be fat pixels.

Honey Graham Life is not very good. I’m going back to Cinnamon next time.

6837 Saturday's walkabout and etc.

Well, I made it to the cemetery, but the office is in the midst of moving the system over to computer, so I didn’t get to drink my Arnold palmer six feet above the carcass of a famous TV dwarf. I was told to call back in a week or two, when the system is fully on-line.

I hopped back on the 40 bus, went to the Swap Shop, bought a pile of tasty veggies at the grocer-realm out front, and caught the 2pm show of the circus. I’m pleased that they don’t have that many animal acts… 99% human acts, save for the elephants. I don’t know why the caution sign mentioned horses, tigers, lions or loud explosions. Also, isn’t that caution sign considered notice?
