Rain rain rain!

Oh, such rain we had… it was delicious.

Very spiffy flash site about 60’s spidey cartoons and the voice talent that were a part of it.

Newt?

Freddy vs Ghostbusters.

Time to Roll.

LEAVE NO EVIDENCE!

Phase 2 is underway.

To any who would oppose me… PREPARE YOUR BLADDER FOR IMMINENT RELEASE!

I hate to be the bad guy, but you must be disciplined or you’ll never learn.

Until Later, Dear Journal.Site Meter

6767 Newt asked me this earlier.

He usually says “mer?”

I think I’ll go to the Seaquarium some Saturday soon. I want to see one of the baby manatees before he’s returned to the wild, but the rehabilitation pools understandably aren’t open to the public.

Want to sponsor a baby manatee?

Come to think of it, it’s so warm out lately that I bet there’s a number of manatees just up the street. I’ll have to swing by and see.

The term “coagulated blood” is on my mind today. I’m not sure why.

I could go for a Twinkie right now… or some angel food cake with strawberry preserves. And have a dip in a nice freshwater lake. And a smooch from my sweetheart. Throw in some shade-trees over that lake.

Nice.

Dan’s changing the color scheme of his website. I think it looks fairly nice and cheery as-is, even though the colors were slapped in quickly, just to show him how the boxes delineate. I can see him going with a monochrome blue… and I don’t see it looking as fun.

the layout in brief

6762 – music, people watching, and pizza.. a decent night.

Went out to pizza with Danny, and had a nice long session of talking and people-watching. there’s a lot on his mind lately, and I hope that the pressures ease up. I think he’s going to have to come to some major decisions regarding work, and soon.

ADP let me down in a big way last night…couldn’t remember after three reminders and having written it down. I don’t know what to do about her. Everyone’s entitled to mistakes, but hers are consistent. If she can’t be relied upon to do it, I’ll launch sexual predator calls myself, if need be. I’m glad I thought to call and ask if the job was launched, or they’d not have gone out at all, rather than late.

nice paid perq. If you’re logged in as a paid user, you “cut in line” of other web requests that Lj’s received but has not yet generated a response.

Speaking of servers, My lj has moved again.

Current music’s lyrics

6748 – 183 Days into 2004. 183 Days to go.

Lazy daydreams and nice thoughts of mi Habibti this morning. Not much for writing, so here’s some linkiedoos.

Five pounds of silly putty for $60. (plus shipping) Egg not included, but you can buy 144 glow in the dark plastic eggs for $5.

Things in the sky on this day in:

  • 1900 – First zeppelin flight on Lake Constance near Friedrichshafen, Germany.
  • 1937 – Amelia Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan disappear over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to make the first round-the-world flight at the equator. (Nobody ever remembers Fred.)
  • 1947 – An object speculated to be a UFO crashes near Roswell, New Mexico, though the United States Air Force claims it is a weather balloon.
  • 1978 – Charon, a satellite of the planet Pluto, is discovered.
  • 1982 – Larry Walters uses 45 helium balloons and a lawnchair to propel himself to 16,000 feet.
  • 2002 – Steve Fossett becomes the first person to fly solo around the world nonstop in a balloon.

Very groovy tunes on Smoke and Mirrors, leftyrok! Thanks for sharing them with me! the cd case’s production values are sharp, too. πŸ™‚

Regarding this post from a couple of weeks back… The lizard I saw was a Knight Anole. Thanks for the herper info, Bart!

Classic ELO.

6746 Spidah-Meng : PART DEUX – With more arms than ever.

Saw Spider Man 2: Electric Boogaloo last night with Dave; the 9 pm showing at Riverfront.

By Jaga!

The guy in line in front of me sounded just like Panthro. I half-expected him to ask me to take my foot off of the blasted samoflange.

Others seen were a large number of the mentally challenged… Lots of women with breast augmentation, too. Par for the course in Ft. Lauderdale. If I tried harder, I could probably make some sort of snarky comments using the term boobs to refer to both groups, but the brain is disengaged right now. Make up your own, dear journal.

Some young republicans promoting W and his team… well-to-do kids that don’t seem old enough to vote. I worked with Bush Sr.’s campaign in the 80s, so there’s hope that they’ll grow out of it too. How’s that for a dirty little secret?

So, the lightweight review: I liked the movie better than the first one… more my kind of villain, and they covered a *lot* of ground in two hours, without it getting sleepy or having “filler”. They got brutal with Doc’s arms, and I think it was very well done. They even got Doc’s brain boo-boo mentioned. Decent story, characters and action scenes. Very loyal to the source stuff, though the “force of will” dilemma isn’t my fave. I don’t want to see too much of Harry Osbourne in the next one, unless he’s teaming with someone else. I’m ready for Mysterio now, or more likely, the Lizard. plenty of potential baddies… but I have no need to see Venom or his ilk. In fact, I’d rather see any of the Sinister Six (the classic group of – Electro, Ock, Kraven, Sandman, Vulture, and Mysterio) than that guy. I still think that Morgan Freeman needs to reprise his role as Easy Reader in the next movie.

I hear that they’re going to rip those theaters down soon, because they’re not making any money… the supposed “new” arcade has long since been removed, but is still mentioned on the site. Right now they have a skee-ball machine, about a dozen out of date arcade games, and an air-hockey table. I can’t say as I recall the last time they showed foreign or indy films, either, for that matter. The best Sunrise theater for that is the Gateway. A far older venue… no stadium seats or anything, but a fun, musty vibe. That’s the last place I had shrooms, ages ago, and where I met April. Two experiences that started off well, and turned ugly after I thought things had just been great. Note – Shooms; 1998. April; 2000.

table test, cut to prevent breakage.

6732 – And you, poor creatures… who conjured you out of the clay?

Thanks, leftyrok for introducing me to Elin! Very Spiffy music.

Wachovia Tower Webcam… about time there was a solid, pannable, zoomable, Miami-cam from that height. πŸ™‚ I’m looking forward to the Four Seasons Cam, too.

The Dead Case – flash game

As a ghost you must uncover the secrets of your past.
Scare children in order to gain power and find a way to escape your purgatory town.

The FAQ provides a walkthrough of sorts, with hints to get you through the game, if needed.

The BBC is broadcasting an adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s Mort. Pretty good interpretation, so far.

Be warned, lest you end as I, dear journal.Site Meter

1 year ago – GP writes me after however many years, reader influx, bro behaving, insensitive online transgender Columbina gets snotty with D, lovey-newt.

2 years ago – a very well thought-out email about getting a journal code for japaneseblossom, 100 questions, Newt-acrobatics, beanbag sofas, rate kittens.

3 years ago -mephitic, sweetie-yodeling, quiet mood, sponge bob, bad science, sexy factoids

4 years ago – Nothing.. not updating regularly yet.

6724 – Father’s Day.

Extra special thoughts for those I care about, and thanks to everyone who has acted as a caregiver and nurtured a living thing.

I’m sort of fascinated by the subject of this community – atlfanghost, a little graffiti ghost that’s been painted all over Atlanta. This entry showcases a large number of them, with alt-tags on most of the pictures noting locations.

Much more interesting, and legally dangerous than my own city’s blue bikes. I wonder where the pink ones went? The Yellow Shoes are all but gone, too. Someone made a collection of abandoned bikes in New York, too.

The current televised poker trend is more boring than televised golf or fishing, in my book.

Had a nice time co-heroing with dcl yesterday… I think Sammy and whims would get along nicely with him. After logging out, I got a 114 meg update… “through the looking glass” a future chunk of the game. One nice new feature is the ability to tweak your costume post creation now… and of course, I like the addition of instanced outdoor missions. I already know a bit about the new addition.. parallel earths, etc. I dig that the game is growing and evolving with regularity.

My journal is the only hit for Mr Chan’s Chinatown Almond Cookies. That’s a pity, because they’re mighty tasty… I haven’t had ’em since that entry.

I need surgery, 1 day in the hospital, 4 weeks PT and it should be all good. Following up at the regular doc, but as it stands, I need 2 ruptured disks, and 1 herniated disk taken care of. it’ll be much like the one I had about a decade ago, only nobody will bring me a Usagi Yojimbo action figure this time, I imagine. Rick (the one that looked like Willie from “v”) brought me one last time, and I really dug that bushido bunny.

Prop2 took her departure better than the gals at work did. I think this is a good thing… but I changed all the email/network/ remote access/ etc passwords today. I was trapped there until about 6:30 tonight… but I guess that makes up for me being late due to the doc’s. I’m officially the Director of Operations now. Prop was very understanding, and I imagine she saw it coming. she offered to help me wherever she could, and though I don’t imagine I’ll run into many bumps, it was very kind of her to offer, given the circumstances. I hope she finds a good gig, and swiftly.

Ben Stein *creamed* the debate on Tough Crowd tonight.. three stand up comics, Colin Quinn and probably one of the brightest political and legal minds in the entertainment industry. I really admire his power over words and ideas, even if I don’t agree with many of his beliefs. (I have Nixon and Kissenger issues.)

Police expert claims Bigfoot ‘proof’ “A forensic expert in the US believes he has some of the strongest evidence yet that the Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, creature exists.” Continue reading Bigfoot / spine / work / chimp-child

I'd like to pull the book out of my mind and open it here.

Dream elements… crushing a can of black cherry soda that was still full on a hike… I dump out the sugar-water and flatten the can like a hockey-puck and slip it into my pocket for safekeeping. I’m walking through a rainforest, and there are 3-foot tall mechanical geese everywhere. They’re made of clear glass and when they sing exotic plant seeds and bulbs shoot from their mouths and burrow into whatever they land on … dirt, trees, rocks, water… One faces me, and I catch some seeds on my chest and arms… the seeds penetrate into my skin, but don’t bloom back afterwards. A huge flock of parrots flies over head and the sounds of their wings is almost deafening as they retreat from a gigantic inky-black cloud that is swirling behind them, slowly pincering in and engulfing them. The mechanical birds fly up and feed on the cloud, going from being transparent to a deep, opaque crow-black. It seems to make them heavier, as they stop flying, and instead glide slowly back to the ground, lined up in formation, no longer distributing plant life (or shooting me, either.) Rain starts falling from the now-clear sky, and the surrounding plants are growing so rapidly, it’s almost like I’m shrinking, instead. The scent of ozone fills the air, and mixes with some sort of heady, sweet smell, like honeysuckle and oranges. I notice that though a great amount of water is falling, I’m not getting wet, even though there’s no cover overhead…a drowsiness surrounds me and I wake up, pretty comfortable and refreshed.

Dang, this week just blew on by. I can hardly believe it’s Friday again.

Ack… bounceout for the palm.… I thought palm bejeweled was evil. See also runes and asteria… not to mention the version of newton’s nightmare that I revised for the palm. (no relation to this one) and atum.

Random Scotto factoids – I have *never* lost a sock in the line of laundry duty. When I worked at the bookstore, and vacuumed up in the morning, I could get the entire morning crew to sing with me. Two or three girls (or falsetto boys) would do ewww…. ahhh-awh ah-ahh, while one guy would do the baseline. Usually Adrian, if he was in. “doom-doom doom”

Meanwhile, I would run the vacuum over the carpet, and sing: (the kids would chime in at the Underdog Chorus… italicized.)

There’s no need to fear! Underdog is here!

when criminals in this world appear
and break the laws that they should fear
and frighten all who see or hear
the cry goes up both far and near
for Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Underdog. Underdog!

when in this world the headlines read
of those whose hearts are filled with greed
who rob and steal from those who need
to right this wrong with blinding speed
goes Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Underdog. Underdog!

It would make my whole day.

I got my recorder!

Yay!

Dorky me played yankee doodle on the way home.

The Recorder, guitar and piano are all “c” instruments, so the compliment one another nicely. πŸ™‚ I hope to play a duet with my sweetie on guitar sometime soon.

I wouldn’t mind doing Gigue in G with her…(midi link) Yeah, it’s Handel… I dig his stuff. Pretty complex work.. I’d have to practice it for a while to get the flipper-notes right.
