Worked Late both Tuesday and Wednesday…I’m hoping that I can but out a bit early today or ideally tomorrow, maybe to give me time to pick up big brain if it’s all better by then.

Well, this might calm down some holier than thou Mozilla preachers out there (don’t get me wrong, I surely prefer firefox over MSIE – but anytime somethinggets a new feature, some clown will find a way to clog the pipes.) Problematic enough that Livejournal is reformatting how page URLs are laid out. Added Kudos to LJ_maint for being about as vague as possible regarding this issue in the meantime. [update – news clarifies things a bit better here. ]

My suspicions about Lost seem to be coming to light –

From Damon Lindelof (one of the creators of the show) – “If you’re watching the show because you’re waiting for the big answers to come, you have to understand that by the nature of what it is — it’s not a movie, it’s not a series of movies, it’s not a trilogy, it’s not a miniseries — it’s going to be on the air for as long as ABC wants to keep it on the air…how can you ever possibly think that Lost will end in a satisfying way? Carlton (the other co creator) and I can almost guarantee you that it will not.“

That said, I still dug the Mr. Eko/Charlie/Island Monster Episode enough to follow along. I just won’t plan for it all to come together in any good way when the show ends… I’ll just toss it in the box with X-files, Twin Peaks, and the rest. Like those, when it turns to poop, I’ll stop watching, until someone recommends a particular episode. Heck, I’d already resigned myself to that anyhow.

GeotargetI didn’t do much of anything this weekend. I didn’t put on shoes. I didn’t leave the third floor. I did clean house, laundry, etc.

Watched the heck out of the Kong DVDs… all the special edition stuff… Harryhausen’s test footage and the documentary on “the making of” was pretty dang impressive, and Harryhausen’s commentary was good on the movie disc, too. A lot of it was interpolated, due to the movie being over 70 years old.. just about everyone remotely involved in the project are long deceased. It worked out quite nicely, however, since the material hasn’t changed in that span,either.

GeotargetIt’s a little flattering when folks use my icons as their own… Newtie Blah-blah is the latest one discovered in use by someone else. (Sadly, I’ve had to ask her to remove it, due to reasons of senitment and copyright.)

Grabbed the latest episode of Lost after getting high marks from a few people I trust… haven’t watched it yet, but have heard that it focuses on Eko, Charlie and the monster.

Also, Doctor Who will be airing on the Sci-fi channel starting in March. Funny how they changed their tune… I guess Battlestar Galactica’s success alone couldn’t float stinkburgers like Mansquito and the bulk of it’s original programming.

Sam Raimi has announced his next project after Spidey 3…it’s The Wee Free Men. Crivens!!

Retrievr, a new service from Flickr, lets you search for images by drawing what you want the image to look like. I’ve been having too much fun.

Going to try to get Hippie Dave to get together with Comic Dave in Fort Lauderdale this weekend.

GeotargetUgh… Monday already? Monday work meeting and then a dog & pony for FDLE at 10.

Holy cow… why did I not know until yesterday that there was a live action Toei Spider-man TV show in Japan (Circa 1978), where he apparently had a neato motorcycle, instant change suit wristband (a-la the flash’s ring), could talk to spiders, and had control over a giant robot? I guess it makes sense, since he was a gadgeteer, (building webshooters and spidey-tracker, anyhow)… In Japan, I think that if you can wire up a tesla coil, you can have a giant robot. Spidey’s Opening Title on youtube -and a short but entertaining clip from the show… I need someone to translate either the Japanese, or the Spanish Subtitles. Graypumpkin, maybe? The Toei version looks a lot more entertaining than the lame American live-action version.

8089 – Friday at last!

GeotargetCompUSA called me today, apologizing profusely. He said that it was still on back order, but it will take between one and two *MORE* weeks to arrive. I asked him what could be done to expedite things, and he responded that he was very sorry, but really nothing.. that they didn’t even have a loaner machine to let me chew on while I dealt with things. I’m really pretty exasperated at the whole situation.

Today at work, there will be a few confrontations, and I’m not part of any of them. I suspect they may turn ugly. Detail to follow tomorrow or Monday, no doubt.

R.I.P. Chuck Zink

I remember watching the Skipper Chuck show right before school. There isn’t a Floridian who was a kid between 1959 and 1979 who doesn’t remember Chuck Zink and his show. It was truly part of South Florida, and Mr. Zink will be sorely missed. I encountered his show when my family was living in Marathon. Thank you Mr. Zink for doing your part in making our world a better place. Peace, Love and Happiness to you on your journey.

I don’t know a lot of Florida Natives… Kat and Kev are the only two folks I can think of off of the top of my head who might remember the show.

GeotargetWell, as a direct result of my calls, Tabitha Lively was recovered safely in Orlando. Pretty keen.. that makes 132 recoveries in the last 46 months that are a direct result of my gig here.

The US Marshalls were very cool to work with, and FDLE was really on the ball, too (as usual). The Marshalls are up there with the FBI as far as professionalism.

I’ve already been interviewed by 3 news agencies regarding the story, and the big kahuna is loving the media attention she’s getting… Maybe this will keep her sourpuss attitude to a minumum the rest of this week. I’m just glad that I wore one of my nice new shirts to work… I’ll be interested in seeing how many errors the different agencies make in reporting… so far, I’ve never, ever seen an article get everything right with a story that I was aware of outside of the news agency.
