7004 – Wicky-wicky-waa-waa.

Something about the weather is very comforting… Rain on glass, moonlight through a window, Newt nestled against my neck. No calls after 10pm! Friendly Chitty-chat. A good night last night.

Sammy and Whims are both a bit quiet lately, but still friendly.

Lack of interest in CoH lately… I hope that Freedom Force 2 has a good multiplay options and game world. CoH has the best team play games of any system I’ve ever seen, though. Nice balancing system between casuals and hardcore gamers.

I’ve discovered that I can do a pretty good impersonation of Ray Romano. How useful will that be later in life? Who can say? I suspect the answer is “not too much”. Interesting that one of the monarch’s main guards has a voice that’s similar.

Looking back a year in time… letting crackheads and thugs go free doesn’t sound a lot like the fascist state so many people are claiming that the US is turning into. Where are the jack-booted brownshirt thugs, when I want ’em?

I want some of those Incredibles toys from McDonalds… but they’re made in China, and it’s McDonalds. Bah.

Maybe I’ll get to go to the Miami Book Fair international next year… last year, surgery, this year, on call. I may have to be very careful for next go ’round! Thank goodness for CSPAN2/bookTV.

The 1st DCA rules once again that the voucher law is unconstitutional.

The first sentence of article I, section 3 of the Florida Constitution is synonymous with the federal Establishment Clause in generally prohibiting laws respecting the establishment of religion. In addition to the Establishment Clause language, article I, section 3 also includes the language of the no-aid provision, which expands the restrictions in state aid and to religion by specifically prohibiting the expenditure of public funds “directly or indirectly” to aid sectarian institutions. For a court to interpret the no-aid provision of article I, section 3 as imposing no further restrictions on the state’s involvement with religious institutions than the Establishment Clause, it would have to ignore both the clear meaning and intent of the text and the unambiguous history of the no-aid provision.

6997 – Friday! Finally.

I’m getting calls from collections companies, looking for my brother. Bad time to share his last name, and to live in the same building he did.

Fortunately, every single time I feel like I’m getting down, Newt straightens up my act. He’s a smartie. If I’m growly or snarly or whatnot, he just comes trotting up, and gives me a headbutt, and little cat-hug. That’s a standing stretch to his hind legs, and his forelegs go around my neck, or my shin, or whatever is handy, while he nuzzles.

Everyone should get some Newtie-love… it’d make the world a better place.

Speaking of the world being better, I’m pleased with the number of new buddies I’ve made in the last span or so of time. My old pals are lovely, too, of course, but it’s especially nice to have fresh seasoning in the mix.

I have all aired episodes of Lost stored now.. I just have to burn them off to VCDs to Free up the space. Right now, it’s about 2.7 gigs. Not a lot since I’ve removed most of my piggy games from the system, but it’s nice to maintain housekeeping.

Next Projects –

Good Eats, Brisco County, and the Venture Brothers.

Thank you, all of you who helped to keep me and mine free. I appreciate the sacrifices made.

I had Dc++ up to seek out the latest lost episode (#8)… it was being hosted online fourteen minutes after the show’s credit’s rolled, HDTV quality, commercial edited out. Good Job, tv people! suprnova.org, hooray!

Has pixar made a bad movie yet? I suspect A Bug’s Life is the weakest link, and that’s a good flick.

6994 – Not that most 52% of Floridians care, but…

The AP came out with this story:

A national organization says Florida is one of the “meanest” states toward the homeless – ranking it behind only California.

Washington-based National Coalition for the Homeless placed three Florida locations in its list of “Meanest Cities:”

5. Gainesville
11. Sarasota
12. Key West

It’s a short article, so I went ahead and found the press release. This is it. I wonder if those “value-voters” think helping the poor is in line with their “moral values.”

How much of a recap can I type out from memory in 10 minutes? Let’s see!

Danny and I were coming up with quotes to put under his yearbook, supporting his school’s all-girl volleyball team, “The Lions”.

Ideas i came up with, but were rejected for reasons of propriety were –

  • There’s nothing more attractive than a positively-charged lion!
  • Lions? I thought it was loins!
  • Who’s this Annette person I keep hearing about? (Lame volleyball pun)
  • Even Nero rooted for The Lions! (probably way too inappropriate for a Christian school.)

Shouldn’t an all-girls team be called “The Lionesses”, anyhow? That was what led me to remember an old superfriends comic books where Jayna turned into a peacock…rather than a peahen. even at 11 years old, I knew that something was up… does that mean she could say “form of a human male”? Considering that Zan could change into a water/ice form of anything… I’m afraid to do a search on wonder twin fanfic. I don’t know if I could handle underage transgender incest superhero stories… with a monkey. Poor Gleek.

Wonder Twins

For what it’s worth, I think that Zan had better powers… sure, he was limited to water and ice forms, but why would a “Icy Mammoth” be any worse than “Woolly Mammoth”? He was effectively invulnerable… you could shatter him, melt him, turn him to water vapor, but he was still cohesive and able to act with some volition… and he could become machinery too.. a jet engine at least once. Jan as a woolly Mammoth would be wiped out with a bazooka… or more likely, a punch from a pissed off telepathic gorilla.

I originally thought that mauled only applied to a bear attack, but in my googling, I came across this site – actresses mauled by lions.

I guess that’s a throwback to one of my favorite old SNL skits : “Looks at Books: Mauled”… Sakes… you can look anything up on the internet!
