8608 – Saturday continues –

On the porch with Newt while Fatima gives the place a a scrub down… later, I meet up with the house sitter to make sure everything is good for my trip next week… basics, like where the sand and kibble are, some fundamental newt rules, and phone numbers to reach me in any time of need.

mp3 of current music. Hey, it was the spice girls earlier, too. Polka Inspired Nostalgia kick.

Just rec’d via netflix – First 3 eps of season 3 of the Shield, Barbarella, and the Skeleton Key. Skeleton Key is on reserve for Tuesday night, methinks. The other two will get watched before then.

Hey! Tomorrow is graypumpkin‘s birthday!

I think a trip to “¡Viva Broward!” is in order – I hear that there’ll be a few good musical guests, and I could go for some walkabout fun this weekend. Maybe pick up some arepas, too.

Places to take BHK in November – (just spitballing, not an actual itinerary)

The Bonnet House

Morikami Museum And Japanese Gardens

Vizcaya (and a stop off at the Planetarium and science museum, too!)

Fairchild

Butterfly world

Miami Metrozoo (It’s cageless, plus it has the “Scoop on Poop” – the biggest excrement exhibit in the world!)

Speaking of poop and no cages… maybe Monkey Jungle?

Sawgrass Mills Mall

Maybe the Norton? It’s been a while since I’ve been there.

Of course, bigger drives will be to the Keys (for kayaking, maybe?), or Tampa-stuff (Like the Florida Aquarium ), and St. Augustine’s goodies.

It’s fun to think like a tourist in my own region. (Plus, it’s cool to go any place that has a Ripley’s Believe it or Not. (Florida, that means Orlando, St. Aug, Panama City and the Keys) – I think St. Aug might be a good choice, given the reviewGeotarget

8607 – some pictures, I saw damien.

Saw Damien on the bus – he didn’t recognize me.. last time he saw me, I had a full bear, long hair down, and was dancing with Willow.

I think the last time I spoke to him was Christmas at the ‘Borgs, about a decade ago.

Yup, I’ve got a picture, though Damien isn’t in it.

Ah, here’s one with him in it from about the same time – He’s on the left, in the tie dye, hands on his knees. I’m practically invisible on the right, a hovering set of cheekbones and a forehead. A lot fo people in that picture that I haven’t seen in a while. Notably Kenny the Klown (he’s in NC right now), The Three Brians, Eryn, Nate/Nug, Leisa, and the rest. I miss the drum circle / guitars on the beach days, when I remember to remember them. Lots of good cheer, good vibes, and positive thoughts. Very little negativity then… I think I learned a lot from those guys.

Anyhow… Damien.. he’s not doing so well. He was drinking vodka from a bottle in the back of the bus, with some older woman (maybe 25 years his senior… and not his mom Deirdre, either.) and taking some transparent caps… could’ve been acid, but I’m not sure. He was looking quite worn… a few days growth of beard, cuts and sores on his face and arms. I didn’t know who he was at first, until I heard him talking in the nasal slur to his seat mate.

Moment of Lyric –

365 days – day 11 – reading lj

8601 – 8 days.

Pumpkins are the only living organism with triangle eyes.

Want to Read the story?

Or just watch it in lego format?

Random Scotto factoid – I have always possessed an odd fondness for windmills. When I see them in movies, or as cookies, it just makes me happy… especially the old-style 4-sailed sorts, though the weird farm-propeller ones are also keen. Long before I ever read Don Quixote de la Mancha.

I like water-driven mills too, for that matter.

365 days of scotto – day 7

8599 –

Time with Danny was pretty straightforward and fun.

We:

  • Got together at about 10am, and shot the breeze
  • Decided to catch the 11:45 showing of “Employee of the Month” (entertaining little formula movie – dane cook and jessica simpson vehicle)
  • Grabbed a beer and a chowder at crabby jack’s
  • We were too late to pick up my suit at the store. Lame Sat. hours.
  • Went back to the condo to chat around the pond, and to talk to the iguanas
  • Went upstairs to watch Heroes ep 3. (The show’s getting better, but still too much pointless gore)
  • Dan took a nap while I played some counterstrike
  • we watched some strong bad emails
  • then headed out – he dropped me a the sushi/thai place, and he went off to dance night with the mrs.

Assorted pics from yesterday –

8598 – Saturday. Mostly pictures and video.

Getting together with Danny today. Mid-morning, we’ll get a bite to eat, and then goof off. Maybe play some pirates, or Axis and Allies Minis. I slept hard last night – from 11pm to just about 7am, with little a solid sea of black in between.. I don’t recall tossing, turning or dreaming at all.

scotto-ad1
Weird Advert-looking version of me for 365 days.
How I envision I’d look on an old newsprint ad for…
oh, I don’t know. Lithium? Monkey Diapers?

scottonewt1
I think I prefer the Sleepy-time picture of Newton and me, instead.

8597 – I wonder how responsible lj would be held?

Wiped out again last night – it seems like everyone at the office has some sort of assorted yuck, from flu to worse. I think GG and LD are the only ones showing some form of immunity. I look forward to a solid night’s rest this weekend.

A Florida woman has been awarded $11.3 million in a defamation lawsuit against a Louisiana woman who posted messages on the Internet accusing her of being a “crook,” a “con artist” and a “fraud.”

Legal analysts say the Sept. 19 award by a jury in Broward County, Fla. — first reported Friday by the Daily Business Review — represents the largest such judgment over postings on an Internet blog or message board. Lyrissa Lidsky, a University of Florida law professor who specializes in free-speech issues, calls the award “astonishing.”

8595 – a quickie with a piccie.

I was very tired last night… working AV/Tech duty for work.. took care of sound system and led projector. during a moment of sillies, I realized that I could probably stitch a few pics together.. over time.. .I see two instances of george – the real photographer, and rhode island, who ducked out midway through.)

The event had only a few attendees – I imagine that the next one will be more populated, because of the forensic aspect of the talk.

I think last night’s speaker (warning, her story can be distressing to folks concerned about violence against women) was quite skilled. It can be quite jarring to see someone good at communications and public speaking, especially if it’s been a while since the last one. She was very eloquent, but down-to-earth heartfelt, and positive. She got the message of victim’s rights across in an effective manner.

Lost city ‘could rewrite history’

The remains of what has been described as a huge lost city may force historians and archaeologists to radically reconsider their view of ancient human history.

Marine scientists say archaeological remains discovered 36 meters (120 feet) underwater in the Gulf of Cambay off the western coast of India could be over 9,000 years old. Continue reading 8595 – a quickie with a piccie.
