Back from walkies… a lovely morning out. Cool and clear.Walked to the post office and back, and realized I’d have been smart if I’d brought some more money with me to visit the green stand while there… ah well, I’ll swing by during laundry, later on today. Submitted two stories to the The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. Well, I just dropped them in the mailbox… so it won’t be really launched form the PO until Monday. We’ll see what happens… I still have some stuff in the slush pile at Analog but no info as to when, or if they’ll ever crack into the light of print. When I get back to work tomorrow, I have to print out a few more nice cover sheets, to shop more things around again. Time to print out everything I think to be of value, and just scattergun, tracking what’s gone where in a spreadsheet (that I have yet to put together). I wonder where my landlord went off to… never picked up the rent yesterday.
I did a little writing yesterday on looseleaf paper, trying to capture a different vibe than typing on the laptop. (My gorilloid hands still aren’t the most happy with the “just smaller enough to throw me off” size. I’ve found that porgramming on the worker bee is ok, since I have a lot of word completes and such on the text editor there. I know I’m more comfortable writing on a machine, once the elements are in place, but I think doodling on a scratch pad loosely has some really valid points to it.
*thinking good thoughts for my sweetie who’s going to brave the shopping frenzy today with her maternal unit.
Ah well, off to daily chores! See you kids in a while.

An interesting proclamation. What struck me was the incantation-like tone of the document, and ritual aspect involved in posting it: “Northbound trucks on U.S. 19 pass one of four wooden posts erected on the roads leading into Inglis. The posts were painted with the words, Repent, Request and Resist. Each post was hollowed out and in it placed a copy of the official proclamation.”
What’s been happening in town of Inglis, Florida, to prompt this? I’d like to see what got those wheels turning.
I’m missing i‘s coloring book project from some time ago…(some more linkies here, and here, and here.) where on sundays he’d do a black and white drawing, and different people would color it for fun. There were some really wonderful pieces done, by folks of all sorts of skill levels. I was very non-judgemental, and generally nifty to see how different folks interpreted them.
Dang, busy day. First real chance to even breathe.
Got everything down to a dull roar, now… we should have the knack of things runnning more smoothly by monday or tuesday. Having Karen around makes it *much* easier than last time. I’d still be gnawing on the line printer if she wasn’t running blocking for me. On the project front, aside from my regualr job I still have the LOTR project, and maybe a little side-access/VBA stuff for Jen, now, too. A strong urge to do some free-flow thought writing, just to get some story ideas out and about.
I slept as a corpse last night, solid, moving very little. I didn’t recally my dreams upon waking, but had a great deal of difficulty breaking the torpor of laying there, lodged like I was dropped from a cliff into a quicksand pit of covers/sheets and such. Newt relocated a bit, sleeping on my neck to start, but I woke in practically the same position as when I started, but without the time-slip effect… the body was feeling slept in, not just paused.

today is the first day of some tougher times at work, for the next 2 weeks. Dale is off to Jamacia… fortunately, this time around we have Karen to help out with things, instead of my having to the whole schmeer myself this time around.
The new liason between us and the parent company is more gross than old boss’s son was, regarding his habits and social skills. Yesterday, while working on a time-sensitive project, he comes trotting in, interrupting Kev’s stream of thought, and has him look up the most trivial stuff on the ‘net for him… Who owns the Pittsburgh Steelers? Go to this “escort Service site”. The guy’s a pig… my current nickname for him is “Small hands” because he’s got tiny little mitts. He has the absolute least amount of respect for women possible…. views them as cash-hungry semen recepticles. A sad way to be, but I think it’s because he’s spent all his time with rich guys and gold diggers, (and advertising guys buying each other hookers. blech) so it’s not all his fault… but it’s so deeply a part of his mindset and lifestyle now that no amount of education will change his view.
Holy cow… I didn’t realise the time. got to get to work.

needless to say, I’m grossed out. I won’t be dealing with them again. urgh. Anyone in the pompano beach area.. the paradise diner is cockroachy! bleah, bleah, ptui.
bye bye sammich & french fries with pickle! Trash… it’s hard… I know that there are people who’d gladly take the roach along with the meal, being so hungry… but not me.
