7160 – Welcome to the Dandelion Wishes Sugar Cookie Giraffe Club!
![]()
Something I noticed.. in Beetle juice, the waiting room is full of people that’ve been dead a long, time, and are stuck in the state they were in at death. (Smoker in bed charred, guy that got run over flat as a pancake.) I figure the main ghostly couple should’ve been wet the whole time. I also wonder where the Maitlands ended up when the cartoon started.
Speaking of Ghosts (thanks Disney, and Thurl.), the Walk I took at Evergreen was nice enough.
Yesterday, I walked over and under the New River, over a lesser canal twice, saw a very handsome black lab puppy, ate wheat thins and drank cold cold iced tea between six and twelve feet above an assortment of veterans, Freemasons, infants and people of the Jewish faith. Not to mention the unmarked graves of folks killed in a disastrous hurricane in 1926.
7159 – And Saturday rolls along at last.

Happy Birfday, dear !!!
Dan’s doing a walk-a-thon today, Mel’s a-workin’, Newt’s a-nappin’, so it’s up to me to amuse myself. Time to visit a local park or tow. I haven’t been to Evergreen yet. I backdated a friend’s only entry, because I built the table wrong, and didn’t want to break any more html.

7155 – It's getting better all the ti-yime.
Not in as much of a funk as yesterday, but I suspect that’s only because the weekend is on its way. I hope to make up for some lost time on last Wednesday. We shall see. I’m hoping for the best, but will be ready if it doesn’t happen.
All I want to do is go to work, and go home after, with as few bumps in the road as possible.
If Mel has to work on Sat (highly likely), then I’m going big time walkies. If not, I hope we can at have a little picnic out at the park. She’s going to be playing a lot of financial catch-up this coming week, I suspect. I may not see her at all this weekend, which is el gordo bummer grande with a side of feh.
Maybe I can get Danny to come out and play this weekend for a bit?
I was told not to peek at my wish list, and it’s *VERY* difficult to obey. I’m sure it’ll be worth it, because I really like everything on there. But, the little kid in me wants to know *NOW*!
I’ve always been pretty impatient when it comes to things like that. A variation on my incredible curiosity / nosiness.
Oldie, but a goodie, and nicely updated – Sleeping in airports -For travelers who are REALLY on a budget and are looking for a way to skim a few bucks off their travel expenses, why not consider sleeping in an airport? Many airports are actually better than local lodging. And to top it off – IT’S FREE! Your friends and family may look at you funny when you return with your airport stories, but that’s only part of the fun. So now, sit back….get out your travel itinerary and plan which airports you’re going to sleep in (or avoid altogether) during your next trip.
Fort Lauderdale Airport Looks pretty good! (as long as you have earplugs to sleep through the regular announcements)
Plans for my walkies – Bring chilled oranges. yum. In the mood for those.
Forecast looks good!
- Friday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower to mid 50s. North winds 15 to 20 mph in the evening decreasing to 10 to 15 mph after midnight.
- Saturday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.
- Saturday Night:Mostly clear. Lows in the 50s inland to near 60 at the coast. North winds 10 to 15 mph.
- Sunday: Partly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s.
- Sunday Night: Partly cloudy. A slight chance of showers. Lows in the upper 50s inland to the lower 60s at the coast.
Can’t beat those with a stick! Maybe it’s time to visit the coral castle?
Moment of Lyric
Steps off the curb
Stella Corona hopes for the best
To be home by sunset
Gotta be home by sunsetShe asked me to give her a ride
She said she had to go
Dropped her off by the trism
Through the atmosphere by prism
1 year ago – 7 sins meme, hand-foot coordination, stood up for b-day dinner

3 years ago – Moonflower haiku, bus rides, tulpa-folk, what do people see quiz (I like blackhellkat‘s answer.), miss cleo got in trubbah, quiet apartments
4 years ago – Snorks vs. Smurfs, recovering from sickies, lovey-loves, butch or femme.

7152 – Ah, the sea… so mysterious, so beautiful… so wet.
I didn’t do a ding-dong thing outside of my apartment on my birthday. I did get some rest and relaxation.. but no journeys anywhere, no dinner out, etc. I liked having a day off mid-week, certainly.
Dinner was a veggie sub from Quizno’s. Got to see Mel for a few hours, but not as long as I would’ve liked… If I’d known that she was going to be running so late, I’d have gone on a day trip in the morning.
Mom couldn’t do dinner, due to her being sick.
It doesn’t feel like I had a day off. I had to take a call the night prior, and still babysit the company to switch phones and supply access codes yesterday. I had to wake up early to switch the phones over. All petty grievances, but it certainly disrupted the desired “big sleep” I wanted.
Mel was really the high point, I got a lot of nice birthday wishes and played a bit on LJ, too. I don’t know why I’m not more thankful or grateful for the day. It just sort of came and went… feels mostly wasted.
Mm.. Cheese enchiladas and mimosas sounds like a nice belated birthday breakfast for this weekend. (randomly found at negatendo while looking for why apple makes a one button mouse.)
Someone has been reading my journal in Polish.
My referrer links are getting polluted a bit by advertisers for hold-em poker-type places. I don’t know why.. I’m the only one that reads my referrer logs. Sort of a dopey spam method if you ask me.
Melissa is Greek for Bee. hm. Pretty appropriate. Industrious, soft, defies most laws of physics, and has a sting if needed. Plus, she makes things so honey-sweet when she’s around.
Moment of Lyric –
Life is something set to music
I can hear it when I’m sad
There’s a chord in every muscle
Every kiss you ever had
There’s a power when you’re near me
In our heads or in our bones
I know nothing but I’m guessing
When we die we’re not alone
7150 – Happy Boithday to me!
Happy Groundhog’s Day, Candlemas, Pidyon Ha-Ben, Imbolc, Lughnasadh, Thesmophoria, Farewell to Lords of Misrule’s Trickster phase, etc.
I didn’t see my shadow this morning. (Phil says six more weeks, but we’re in disagreement) Newt was quite a little cuddler, though.
Helped demolish exactly 454+ evil adware / trojan / spyware naughties on Mel’s system last night. Man, her computer has been carrying all sorts of baggage since she was last online with it… about two years ago! I thought just a defrag would help with the slowdown, but spybot, adaware, hijackthis and microsoft’s own anti-spyware really got her system spinning like a top.
Random quote from Mel: You don’t have any porn there, but you have a hidden *comic book* stash under your bed?
Thanks for the lovely E-Card, Oneeyed & Granny!
Moment of Lyric –
When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of them all,
I shall tell them I remember you.I remember you,
You’re the one that made my dreams come true,
A few kisses ago..I remember you,
You’re the one that said, “I love you too,
Didn’t you know?”
7149 – no floods, fire, frost, or frippery, for at least 28 days, please
I received my first birthday present last night… from eryx_uk (great timing, by the way!) It’s something from my amazon wish list. Thank you so much! I’ve admired the book for quite a while!
It’s Official! *No* New Bummers or sadness throughout February… and no saving ’em up for next month, either.
Bailed on work yesterday.. I was feeling pretty poorly, bu I think I’m ready to attack today before having my b-day off tomorrow. Brother came by and visited for a few moments, I got his disability info sent off.
I think I’m about due for a redesign of my journal… at least the background. Something to ponder while I chew on any new mage fooling in the future.
A Daily cup of tea – Cute orisinal game. an interesting twist on the old burgertime vibe.
I really like high too… delivering flowers to heaven, but I think my favorite recent one is wake up.
Some pretty nifty mashups in mp3 format – I’m partial to Rapture Riders (Mixes Jim’s vocals from ‘Riders On The Storm’ with Blondies ‘Rapture’, beefed up with a few breaks and maintaining elements of the Doors solo’s and Debbie’s rap sections.)
Beatleg bootles is pretty nifty, too. (but sort of chubby at almost 22 meg) Contains ‘How Does It Feel To Be Rich, Man?’ / ‘Sloop For No One’ / ‘Razor Smile’ / ‘Daytrip To Never Never Land’ / ‘Karma In The Life’.
Hm. Dating a singer and music fan has had the nice side effect of opening a few doors off on the right hand side of the brain left fairly dormant the last year or four.
Mel’s guaranteed to raise a smile. Like Sgt. Pepper, only she doesn’t wear those cool doorman/military jackets. She has trouble understanding why I like cartoons and kid shows, though.
I’m amazed how much stuff has high-teched since I was a kidlet. When I was a kid, Vinyl was what you listened to music on.. better than those Edison wax cylinders, to be sure, but I love that mp3s are so portable now.. and that sound/images can be mixed and edited so much more freely.
Mel was downright peppy yesterday. I think that she’s flung off all but the last dregs of her sickies. That’s a good thing… that tells me a birthday journey is certainly in the cards.
Moment of Lyric –
Well now, I get low and I get high,
And if I can’t get either, I really try.
Got the wings of heaven on my shoes.
I’m a dancin’ man and I just can’t lose.
You know it’s all right. it’s ok.
I’ll live to see another day.
We can try to understand
The new york times’ effect on man.
7148 – I’m too sexy for my hat. Whad’ya think about that?
A fine day of Mel-care yesterday… she forgot her flowers over here, but that’s ok… she’ll be seeing them again this afternoon or so.
Dinner with mom on the birthday… and din-din with Dave Thursday… I really hope Mel doesn’t have to work on my b-day after being in the hospital on Friday. I doubt she will.. but if she does… well, I’ll just take it slow and easy.
Sunday leisure bachelor-time with Newt, before Mel came by.

Man, I don’t even begin to understand Lazytown. Vinyl prosthetics / muppets / animation and Icelanders. I like the surreality of it, bu there’s something really wrong there, too. It’s a little overdeveloped as a marketing ploy. The message is good (be healthy, not lazy) but I get a power rangers / Ninja turtle / He-man *we sell lots of things!* vibe. I guess I can’t begrudge ’em trying to make a buck.
My brother… I’m tired of his sickness. It really kills me to see him as damaged as he is, and knowing that there isn’t a damn thing I can do for him. What’s worse is the thought that what happened is self-inflicted. I selfishly want a resolution to his situation for good or bad. I just want his situation in the past. At least My issues with my mom are good again… no drama there!

7147 – The Giant Snail is coming! Stroll for your lives!
Mel is out of the hospital, and is mending at a great rate. Thank goodness… I was getting pretty nervous there for a bit. She’ll be over this afternoon for me to look after her a bit.
MA boo-booed yesterday over switching the phones… fortunately ErN was home and able to launch the first call of the day, while I tended to my laundry.
I’m pretty dang pleased with AVG…. my Norton AV expired a week ago, and I was too cheap to fork over $60 for a new copy. Does what I want it to do, and the footprint is much smaller.
Moment of Lyric –
Peace of mind?
Piece of cake!
Thought control!
You get on board anytime you likeLike sittin’ on pins and needles

Gene Kelly Pops & Locks… that’s a pretty amazing reworking of the “Singin’ in the Rain” scene. I’d love to be able to dance like that, but honestly, I’m way too lazy to get to that level (even if my back and legs were functioning at 100%). The only way for it to happen would be more creative CGI work.
Sidebar… I think Gene would make a pretty good version of Eisner’s Spirit.
List of unusual personal names… I didn’t know Kevin Smith named his daughter Harley Quinn.. he’s asking for it.

7145 – Saturday morning.. who sleeps in?
Very slow Friday night… not much time spent talking with Mel, or doing much of anything, really. She has been in the hospital for observation.. I’m going in to see her this morning. With any luck she’ll be released. (an X-Ray/MRI this morning will tell if she can go.) Apparently she’s feeling a lot better, her chest has cleared up, and is feeling tougher.
Once I switch my techs over, it’ll probably be out the door with me.
7144 – This week has been nearly burned to the ground.
Mel’s doing a bit better, but she’s got a ways to go before she’s back at functionality…I’d guess she’ll be able to go back to work on Monday. She’s getting pampered here again all weekend. I got to see her briefly last night… long enough to tough base and make mushy sounds to one another, anyhow.
National Flu report – Sakes.. look out, Texas!
Congrats on the baby, applelard! 8 lbs 12.9 oz, and was 20 inches long. He’s going to get a lot bigger with his tall parents!
Speaking of which, MA’s an auntie as of Wednesday night! The way she loves kidlets, I expect he;ll be a happy little guy for many years to come.
I think that RS and ElN are getting a tighter focus on the work gig… I think that they’ll adapt, but a lot of stress/pressure on lately. I suspect that the honeymoon is over for them and JH. ADP is about out of there, I suspect.

| Las Olas and Andrews. Comfy area to roam and linger. |
Lots of cool stuff has taken place here. First real smooch with Mel. Hung out with my littler big sis, rode the water bus under the Andrews ave bridge, free movies, the Museum ‘f Art, New River, singing fountain, and on and on. Movie theater is right there on Riverwalk, as is the Tuna Saloona. A nice place to go for walkies… unless it’s really raining.
360 degree view of the plaza., and along the riverwalk
I wonder how true it is that “you are where you live“.

Link to a Newt Pic that I adore. I love his fuzzy lil paws.
Hiëronymus Bosch Action Figures – Bosch places visionary images in a hostile world full of mysticism, with the conviction that the human being, due to its own stupidity and sinfulness has become prey to the devil himself. He holds a mirror to the world with his cerebral irony and magical symbolism, sparing no one. He aims his mocking arrows equally well at the hypocrisy of the clergy as the extravagance of the nobility and the immorality of the people.
I’ve always liked the Egg-monster.
