A river with a fear of heights… that’s almost interesting.

I almost went to the ren-fest yesterday, but then I remembered it’s expensive, and is mostly bleh, save for the mud show and renfaeries, which rock. Instead, I just sort of shuffled around and burned the soles of my sneakers walking.

I’m thinking of applying something like this or this to my new journal/website layout.

I make my letter “o” in a clockwise circle, and my “e” starting with the center stroke, not the outside. I wonder if it’s because I’m left-handed?

Hm, No Gray’s Anatomy, but I got Soylent Green instead. Chuck Heston makes a good post-apocalypse leading man… this combined with Omega Man and Planet of the Apes proves it. Plus, in SG, he gets to smack Chuck Connors around like a rag doll (including a kick to the beans that lifted the Rifleman right off of the floor.) I can easily see New York or Miami suffering from that level of overcrowding in 20 years, certainly in the 50 from the time that SG was filmed. I also forgot: DICK VAN PATTEN IN CHARGE OF SUICIDE BOOTHS!

p.s. Soylent Green Tea Ice Cream is one of the best flavors at the best ice cream store in Miami, The Frieze. I’m overdue to head back there… the last time I had it was August 12, 2001.

How do I know? My journal is the only thing that comes up on a google search for Soylent Green Tea Ice Cream. Same goes for Yahoo.

The Thin Man was excellent, as always. I’m glad that I had it sent out… I really dig Nick and Nora Charles. (Maybe why I like Elongated Man so much, when written properly.) William Powell just rocks… Richard Diamond is still my favorite incarnation of Powell’s Detectives… I like his Private Eyes a bit more over easy than hard-boiled. I’d guess that I have about forty or fifty radio episodes saved on the HD. He’s not a bad singer, either.

Blue Ice cubes? How degenerate!

I forgot how much the opening theme music to The President’s Analyst reminds me of the old Batman TV show, even while a man is knifed in the ribs. The rest is pretty wacky stuff, too. I’m amazed that it’s on DVD. It becomes superb once full blown paranoia sets in. I’m glad the music is the theatrical music, rather than the reworked vhs stuff.

Someone made the singing fountain into a geocache! I took an Italian coin, and left a hair tie with a little froggy-bead.

HAPPY 5^th BIRTHDAY LIL BIT!!

Went with Danny last night to a high school basketball game.. Cardinal gibbons vs Chaminade Madonna. His team lost… something like 48 to 28. We hit ol’ Denny’s up for dinner afterward.. it was a nice night, and a lot of fun for a spur of the moment sort of trip. If the pictures come out, I’ll post ’em later tonight.

The irony of a Christian school with the mascot of a lion is not lost on me. Since it was girls basketball… they’re the “lady lions”.. wouldn’t that be lionesses?

Flipside, the Cardinal Gibbons mascot is “Redskins”. Why not a Gibbon? I would love to see a Monkey in red robes and a crazy pope-hat as a mascot. I’d buy the stuffed animal, t-shirt, ballcap… whatever the school had to sell.

Via Whims – “Loonatics” – revamped Loony Tunes for the new market. I think the new designs all look a bit too similar. I’ll be a hard sell, but who knows? There’s an off chance I’ll like it…. doubtful, but a possibility.

City of Lost Children was quite good.. though the actor’s narrative talk-over track was a little weak. Not sure why anyone would want the pan and scan version.. wide screen is a thousand times better.

Thursday.. more training of backup techs. I’m not going to complain.. they’ll take up slack where needed.I can only really train two at a time.. after that, and the one-hour session is lost in class time. It’s one thing to explain to a room full of cops how the system works… yet another to do the “under the hood” stuff. Two potentially good ones, and three so-so’s.

Mel radio silence broken. Things looking better. Rendezvous foreseen by the weekend.

How to be extra gross at the bus stop. smoke a cig, eat a stinky grease burger and have no knowledge of that thing that most folks call “a shower”. the combined whiff of stale smoke, burger stink and BO was pretty overwhelming. I deal with stinkies often enough on the bus, but man… there’s a limit.

I never made it to the beach.. instead, I fixed George’s computer for him.. set up his new system, and mirrored his stuff form the HD to the other side.. also set up SF’s printer.. as best I could.. the ink cart was deady-dead. Big Kahuna was suffering a lot yesterday, everything seemed to be going bass-ackward.

Caught up with my JLU downloads. I’ve got the last two of season one, and the first two of this season. Cute cameo of Static Shock and Batman Beyond….Ed Asner as Granny Goodness is just too creepy, though. It’s nice to see some of the second-stringers get the limelight. A GA/Black Canary mission and a Mister Miracle. Not too shabby, even if I’m not thrilled with the New Gods.

I made Newton a bowl-sized ice cube, and he can’t stop licking it. It looks like a tiny fortress of solitude… transparent dome.

Bro’s cell phone is deactivated. Who knows where he is?

So busy yesterday, I didn’t get to talk to Mel at all. I wonder if that’s the start of a new pattern? Note, she didn’t call me, either.

Apparently, there’s a Netflix depot somewhere in Fort Lauderdale. Somewhere in 33340. Nice, I got two of my three movies today.. a one day turnaround. THX and Res Dogs…. of course now I’m paranoid that the third one got filched, but I suspect it’ll be in the box this afternoon.

Hey! Rik’s comic book is in this month’s previews! In the independent comics, just before City of Heroes – Bloody Mary Productions is the company. Comic title is ‘Tales of Bloody Mary’ #1.

Tate’s is going to be ordering copies, and it should be in the Hot Topic in Sawgrass, too, so I’ll pick it up one of those locations.

Hot Topic ordered 1000 copies of the book, too .. and two Army bases want to carry some.

Last night I dreamt that I was sleeping in the apartment next door while some sort of repairs were taking place. I came back home after taking Newt for a walk on a harness (something we haven’t done for an age) and the sliding glass door was wide open. I knew that I’d closed it on the way out. I called out to the inside of the house for folks to come out, and to come out now because I was calling the police. Nobody came outside, so I phoned the police anyway, and stupidly went inside. I don’t know where Newt went, but I wasn’t worried about him. I walked the area out, and found some vagrants sleeping in the living room. I told ’em to get out, and they did so… one man was foul smelling and had a backpack that looked something belonging to my brother. I asked the guy if the bag was his, and he said that he didn’t know… we opened it up and my bro’s old skateboard was in there. I told the guy to hit the road, but leave the bag behind. I thought I’d checked the whole place out, and got ready to sleep for the night. right as I was starting to bunk down, I rolled in bed and saw that next to me was a person being prepped for minor surgery. I got up, apologized, and went to go sleep in the bathroom tub. when I closed the door, a head fell from the crack between the top of the door and the frame, like a bad “bucket of water” gag. Shocked, I woke up shortly afterward.

Yesterday, I pretty much just slobbed around the house, napped, slacked off and never even left the premises. No Mel, though we did speak a few times, but no visiting time. After our talk on Saturday, I figured that would be the case. I hope we still get together tonight.

I blame Micah Wright’s poor writing for the demise of the show… the episodes he wrote were a sure death knell. The early Episodes by John Requa and Glenn Ficara had a lot more life, intelligence and humor to them.

What happened? I used to really dig ’em. Hm, come to think of it, I haven’t had Sugar Smacks…or whatever they’re called now, since sugar is such a bad, bad word. I don’t know why they changed it from Honey Smacks to just ol’ Smacks. MM.. I want a big bowl of SMACKS. Sounds like someone wants a punch in the nose, or three, not a tasty breakfast.

Bro called, and I’m still not sure why. he talked about starting his own church so he wouldn’t have to pay taxes… I explained to him that it didn’t quite work that way, and how much effort was involved in doing it legitimately. Who knows, though? Maybe a little morality will splash off on him in the process.

I’m not sure what term I like best for where I live. Sanctum? Den? Lair? Nest?
