Fiberglass steeds. Dragons and a horse.
so, this version of my online journal is 17 years old today (the livejournal started on May 19, 2000.)
I actually started in 1998, but was sporadic. A bit on H2G2, other stuff lost to time and space, like my old YouTube channel. (my fault for posting music videos – got hammered for multiple violations and didn’t have time to recover my original content.)
I want to get back into posting more often (more than the odd instagram photo here and there.) Time seems to be at more of a premium these days. I suppose I’ll have to *make* time, and not just fall into posts.
Happy feast day of St. Dunstan!
St Dunstan, as the story goes,
Once pull’d the devil by the nose
With red-hot tongs, which made him roar,
That he was heard three miles or more.

He died at age 42, (when I was just turned 18), so that makes it what, 29 years ago?
1987, the year I graduated high school.
I don’t feel it so much these days, and only really think on it when I wonder what his thoughts on an item might be, or I’m reminded of fathers in general, like the holidays or whatnot.
It is strange to me to be older than my dad’s age at death. Comparisons I used to run simply don’t apply anymore.
I like to think I’m in a happier and more supportive place than he was in his 40s – but I also think that we are two very different people. I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like to be married with kids in my 20’s – a standard for his generation.
