I let her know about Magda’s return on November 25th, and the new condo — she told me about Gil, Sonya and Steve quitting the club… not to mention Susie and M getting the boot. Chris was promoted to manager on Sunday / Mondays, plus Melissa and Longhair still bartend and serve respectively. I could quite easily fall back into being the club’s Sunday “Norm!”, now that the bald IKON boneheads have bailed on the place. Tougher to get there from Deerfield, but worth it, I think.

Bro came by to pick up his guitar and amp… I told him to pick up the rest of his stuff before 12/1, because I’d be moving. He just told me to leave it at the Momster’s. I told him he’d have to work that out himself, and we argued a bit. I think a month’s notice to find a place for his stuff after being storage over and above 2 years is more than reasonable.

Note, he only calls when he wants something, and then it’s practically hourly voicemails.

I don’t think that I’ll pass my mailing address on to him, just let him know I’m in Deerfield.

Saw Chicken Little (any excuse for a/c instead of the muggy apt… semi-blah, but had quite a few fun moments. Not as good as Wallace & Gromit, but fared better than Robots. (Plus, Joan Cusack voice, who I adore.)

crescent moon is out with a single bright star right now… cool breezes and sunset reminds me why I dig Florida.

John Lithgow’s new Campbell’s Soups commercials are sort of sad.

Apartment got pretty heated again last night… nearly impossible to get any rest… Newt’s in great shape, but I was sweating far too much. Not enough voltage to run a tiny box fan.I’m really happy that this didn’t happen in July, or it would be a health hazard. Cool Showers work wonders.

Random Memory… whenever a propeller plane would fly overhead, my buddy Jason and I would yell “STUKA!!” and run for cover, as if it might go after us on a strafing run. I was 7 years old, and I think it was a side effect of my pop’s fondness for WWII documentaries that inspired the game. It seems sort of weird, looking at it under current context…. 40 years from now, will I see kids play-acting at the trade-center bombing, or other major world event, or will most of my life history fade into a blur? I’m not sure what defines my generation… Movies? Star wars and Star Trek got milked to the point of making them weak jokes. Harry Potter, maybe? Somehow, I suspect those books won’t be so much in vogue down the line… but the old standards of playing war have a strong vibe. I doubt kids’ll play “Iraq war” any more than I played “Vietnam” or “Korea”. WWII and to a lesser degree, WWI both have something very powerful going for them that isn’t easy to replicate. Other history-genres that seem timeless are Dinosaurs, Pirates, Knights and the Wild West… Cyberpunk and even pulp seem to be little subsets that’ll probably never get rolling again.

Told the landlord that I’ll be out of the apartment by 11/30 – He wasn’t too happy to hear that I’d paid  first, last and security, and that my lease was a 30 day notify, but such is life.

On call from midnight on Saturday night to Monday Morning 9am… I may take Monday as a personal day afterwards. Possibly hanging out with Uber’s buddy Wendy today or tomorrow sometime to goof off and destress, which can be a jim-dandy thing. Always fun to make new pals, get some food, and have some laughs.

Not sure how the Casa de Wendy did after the ‘cane, but I’m still at 1/2 power.

Hm, if I’m going to work, I need to hit the laundromat today or tomorrow sometime, too. That’ll be the last time I go there, most likely.

qawsqas < -newt on keyboard. His way of saying good morning, natch. Great news about Herm! Mending well... I'd been quite concerened. I hear 2L is super laggy these days, not that I'd be contributing to said lag... mr lappie isn't up to the demands that place makes on a machine.

Went to update the wardrobe a bit, and was out of luck… the place had flood damage and was closed.

“Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.”
-Anonymous

I used to believe that. Sadly, I’ve uncovered some seriously malicious stupidity in recent days. Why have one, instead of both?

Also, whatever happened to “Lead by example”? In most gigs the last decade or so, it’s been a case of “Do as I say, not as I do.”

Ah well, no big whoop. I’m not going to harp on the limitations of others. Meanwhile, I have a new place to get ready for a move-in and folks to be friendly with.

This weekend, I put the starting moves on boxing up all non-essential goods… I think that I can get everything over to the new place in one trip of a U-haul. The tile is down already, and it’s getting an acid wash shortly… New sinks, a new commode and running a little cable for phones will happen over the course of this and next week.

Basic condo info – One bedroom, third floor, pool access, washing machine two doors from my place, ($.75 a load) a clubhouse with a pool table, library, ping-pong table and meeting area (would’ve been fantastic for gaming back in the day.) Ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room, both high enough for me to walk under comfortably. Maintenance covers the cost of basic cable… I’m not a big fan of Comcast’s south florida service, but free is free. A lot of nice grounds to walk, with a fairly large iguana population by the lake. Walking distance to Federal Highway, which is a major mass-transit backbone. Central Air. Built in 1969. New Fridge and dishwasher. BBQ grills outside here and there. Garbage disposal. Covered parking. Super tiny elevator, or groovy large steps. Hurricane Shutters.

About here. ( about 16 miles north of where I live now).

Looks like I’ll be getting out of Ft. Laud right before Hav gets back from Gitmo.

An Hour with Hourman and Teen Titans vs. The Doom Patrol… by Mike Allred! Happy geek vibes.

Henry Pym and Ralph Dibney don’t count as junkies, though they are also pill poppers. Also.. um, Dan Garret (Blue Beetle I) and his vitamin 2-X, Super Goof…

Being a pedestrian in a region with no street lights / traffic lights is a scary thing. I avoid those regions wherever possible.

Newt and I had a nice conversation this morning. I have no idea what it was all about, except that he’s a cutie when he’s sleeping with his paw over his eyes, belly up… looks like a swooner on a fainting couch.
