Prompt – “witch” We had chili last night, cooked up by the most amazing couldron/ crock pot cooker I know. Chili again tonight, this time on baked potato. (Last night, it was chili taco salad!)
Prompt- “vampire” He’s just taking a little walk and getting annoyed with all the people who tell him, “If only he grew a mustache, he would look like E. A. Poe.” He thought the comparisons would end when Poe passed, but 174 years later… 175 years in a week. Watching the first episode of Battlestar Galactica (’78), and having a reading break on the couch on a fine Friday night. So different in high def, you can see Lorne Green’s toupee line.
Prompt- “Faun” Feeling more halloweeny today, but back is still being a beast. Hot shower and maybe some more movement will help. This faun gets human knees, because I don’t know how faun legs work.
Raining today, and so many folks are still without power, thanks to Helene. I suspect that Adam here would have a hard time getting a charge because, despite the wet, there hasn’t been very much lightning in these parts. My heart goes out to those displaced, dealing with any ill effects of the storm.
I cannot get over how lucky Atlanta was in this horrific Hurricane Helene mess. The amount of damage done defies belief, and almost 2 million people are still without power. I cannot remember when anything has damaged the central South this hard. That so few people lost their lives is a blessing. I hope everyone gets their power back soon.
Prompt – “a bug” It was fitting because I had to dispatch a spotted lanternfly this morning after being spotted (no pun intended) by the girls (both @maximillian_deersteak and @pearlsquirrel). Speaking of bugs, I’m off to Walmart to get my updated vaccines for flu and covid. Until later, doodle journal! #doodle #abug #giantmantis #stinktober #stinktober2024 #day11 https://www.instagram.com/p/DAoTTtKxFuX/?igsh=MXEzYTA1cHo5MWQxag==
Written in the past to post today. The theme was a fake band logo (I chose “The Wombat Factory”)—and also went with an album cover, as my logo skills are weak. What do you think each member does in the band?
Prompt – “Donut Mess with Me” Just taking a breather post-PT before getting back to business. Hips and upper back got a lot of work today, and I am feeling it. Background picture from the Boynton Inlet, circa 1986. Modular Donut is loosely based on recent glyos figures- and I am wondering where I put that tiny black cape? We had some sour cream donuts for breakfast, and while tasty, not what I would call filling. I’m going to hit the fridge harder for lunch, I think. Plenty of leftovers and “not-yet starteds” available in the ol’ fridge.
Prompt was “Bat-Dan.” I went with Dan, meaning Dane/Danish person. (I know Vikings didn’t wear horned helmets, but it better suited the Batman aesthetic).
I swiped the background wholesale from Batman the animated series and just tweaked the colors a bit. My work is just the Bat-Dan himself.
A viking batman must be in the mythos somewhere, but none come to my mind – I will do a deep dive to look later.
The prompt is “pissed pizza”, and we are having pizza for supper tonight, so here we go. I prefer my pizza to be content and happy, in my tummy, honestly. I got my favorite at the moment (onion and black olive), while my better half got her usual. It should be arriving any time now.
Before her fame fades from my memory, Moo Deng the Pygmy Hippo—something lovely from September 2024. While other stresses of all sorts exist in the world, it is nice to have many people focusing on a cute and fiesty baby animal.
This little butterball is far cuter in real life than in my drawing, and I hope that putting “Moo Deng hippo” in an internet image search continues to find adorable animal pictures whenever I return to this post in the future. Hi, future self! I hope you are doing well today, got some good rest, and have a delicious meal next time you are ready to eat. (Same goes for whoever else stumbles across this entry, too.) Go look at some pictures of cute critters!
Prompt – “a pretty cool ghoul,” so i gave him a jukebox headstone and greaser vibe, like vintage fonzie. I like to think he’d lend you a stick of gum or offer a shoulder to cry on, and that’s pretty cool. I was shooting for a kind of “Mike Allred, classic Madman” art style, but I don’t think it is quite there. I really prefer to do stuff with a short 3 or 4 color pallette…makes things more consistent.
