Florida, land of sunshine?

Not during the rainy season. Not that I mind. Not a bit… I only would prefer to skip work again today, and curl up with the kitty, my sweetie, a good book, and some bedclothes.

looks like rain!

Here’s a little about the town I live in, rather than just Fort Lauderdale – http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/us/A0839631.html

Pompano Beach , city (1990 pop. 72,411), Broward co., SE Fla., on the Atlantic coast and the Intracoastal Waterway; inc. 1908. It is a resort city with ocean beaches, excellent fishing, and a harness-racing track. More than 60% of the city’s economy is based on tourism. Manufactures include precision and electronic equipment and various technological supplies. The raising of citrus fruit and winter vegetables has long been important. Pompano Beach has many miles of small canals that are lined with homes. A U.S. coast guard station is there. Of interest are a lighthouse, built in 1906, and a Native American mound park.

I’m Back!

Well, it was rather grey out, but watching the sun come up was nice, regardless.I was surprised at how cool the water was… last time, it was warmer than air. Bad day for surfers, no waves, good day for waders. 🙂 I plunked my head below the surf briefly, but only swam a little bit.. maybe for a half hour or so.

I just popped out of the shower, get the salt more than beach-shower rinsed off. It’s nice to be back at the house… I could almost go back to bed… but I’ll stay up a bit. I can fool around a bit, have a few low end chores to do, but for the most past, this weekend’s going to be about relaxing, and unwinding a bit. I’m off to a good start.

I was hoping that the elbo-room cam was pointed out to sea, but no such luck. Perhaps later in the day. Looking like it’s going to be a thunderstormy weekend.

Brzap! Flashback! scott-1974

First vivid memory. Visiting in Florida

I remember clouds and blond hair. I remember a ring made of tinfoil, and I remember walking on the beach at the age of four, only to stumble and fall on a recently washed up jellyfish with its tentacles still in perfect working order. This was my first introduction to pain, really. Face first into a mound of chemically charged spaghettii and causing me to experience a white light within my head as intense as the sun itself.

My Brother’s coming into town!!!

Bro

I haven’t seen him since last Thanksgiving, and he’s finally moving back to Florida after living in Hawaii for the last 5 years. (Before thanksgiving, the last time I saw him was when he was leaving.) I just wired him some $$$ to get a few last things together to go, so he should be coming into town before the weekend is here! Yayyy! Now I really need to Boot April out of my pad, so that he can stay at my place for a little while. (Downside is that he’s allergic to my little pal Newton… Dagnabbit!) We’ll have to see where it decides to go, but it’ll be fun. As a quick descripter of my bro – My height, maybe a little taller, (6’6″) and he’s on the lean side, as he surfs daily.
