Whee! Deadly toys I had as a boy!

Hey… the poem tag project has its own domain now…http://www.poemtag.com/

Route 1 goes by the twelve dragons. Maybe I’ll take a look at that next weekend…maybe pick up an assortment of little plastic dudes. Maybe some Mechwarriors, or Mage Knight figs. Fun to mix it up. I bet that I can get my sweetie into it if I get some that look like gundams.

Practicing the recorder, and it’s officially back… it took a few days to get the fingering back up to speed, but once there, it’s like second nature again. I’m very pleased.

I’m taking this coming Wednesday off to hang out with Dan… He’s having some skin cancers removed in the morning, and I thought it’d be a good thing to help him keep his cheer high, and mind off of his troubles a bit. Plus, I’ll enjoy a little time off in midweek. Bonnie’s program is done, so my only projects ahead of me are regular duties, the web page, and whatever else pops up. I’m hoping that the shakeup in the mailshop isn’t going to be too rough, with big bird leaving.

A year ago, I was telling a pirate joke, abandoning an idea for selectivity on my website and basking in the glow of the touch and thought of my sweetheart. Two years ago, I was telling someone that I’d had my septum removed, and had my blood replaced with instant coffee by aliens.

A plant grows in Mexteca, Mexico, which the natives call the “herb of prophecy.” A dose of it produces sleep similar in all respects to the hypnotic state. The subject answers with closed eyes all questions that are put to him, and is completely insensible. The pathologic state brings with it a kind of prophetic gift and double sight. Furthermore he loses his will and is completely under the control of another. On returning to himself he remembers nothing of what he has done.

My sweetie’s going to be pleased… looks like she’s going to get some major rain this week, from Tuesday, on. Tonight, I have a soft patter of rain, and it looks like it’ll last out the week, too, sporadically. I’m glad of that…it’ll take care of the plants, and maybe keep things nice and cool. I’m tired of the hurricane andrew retrospectives everywhere… yes, we had a lot of rough weather and hard times a decade ago. Is it worth talking about on the news every night for the last two weeks? Nope! How about a few human interest stories that take place in the now?

ci‘s baby had a *very* cute hello kitty dolly… HK dressed in a little tiger suit. as a side note, HK is 28 years old, having been introduced to the public in ’74. I may have to get the toy for someone ‘peshoo.

I’d like to buy a vending machine to keep at work… I bet that I could make a mint. Something to look into.

I was obliged to put a big “no junk mail” sign on my mailbox yesterday, under my address…. on Saturday, it was *choked* full of pointless flyers and paper-waste. I’m glad that the local PO has rules about that stuff, and listens.

Ah… I see a little kitty that wants to chase a milk ring.

and so, dear journal…

I have a journey, sir, shortly to go;
My master calls me, I must not say no.

Nigh nigh.

Light objects
Mailbox (outdoor) – Adds 1 to attacker’s Damage rating
Crate (outdoor) – +2 squares range when thrown
Desk (indoor) – May be used normally to attack or add 2 to user’s Defense versus one attack. The desk is destroyed when used.
Bookcase (indoor) – Add 1 to attacker’s Attack rating.

The heavy objects are:
Dumpster (outdoor) – Object is never destroyed. The player that used it places it in any square adjacent to the target after use.
Computer (indoor) – Adds 1 to attacker’s Attack rating.
Soda Machine (indoor) – Add 1 to attacker’s Damage.
Light Post (outdoor) – Object does normal damage for a heavy object and Incapacitates the target as if the attacker has the Incapacitate super power.

Well, I got Dave hooked on heroclix… he placed an order for mage knight this morning. I have to send him a link to the full rules, here. http://www.mkrules.net/MageKnightRules.htm

Did my groceries, and cleaned house. How’d I generate so much trash this week? all the supplies ran out, so the packaging for litter, assorted food, and such really bulked it up.

Hot diggety!

I got zoe‘s trivia cookies today!

She’s off count though… I got well over a dozen… closer to two! 🙂 They arrived well packed, unsmooshed and uneaten. (I’m going to rectify the latter right now!) I’m going to share this newfound boon of chocolaty-quadrangle goodness with my brother. There’s too much to hoard for myself, as much as I’d like to.

I’m back! He was *very* appreciative. 🙂

We both did the head-bob victory dance and adjourned back to our respective abodes.

I emailed my ebay guy, and he told me that my stuff was put in the mail yesterday… so I should be seeing it tomorrow, or Monday at the latest.

Downloading “Run tel dat” for the Island Boy at work. our net connection there is so congested that he can’t run kazaa at any higher than 1.8k (rather than the 106k that the file is streaming at now… It’d be higher, but I’m nabbing other stuff, too.)

/bragging&picking on the company’s net trouble

Newt likes the new table & chairs, a lot. multiple smooth surfaces at assorted heights. Mucho fun to play with, and get different vantage points on potential prey in the house. Deadly Legos, hair ties and army men had better watch out!

It’s fun to watch him.. right now he’s kicking back on top of the futon, and watching animal planet.

Newt & the boob tube
Unless I’ve reactivated cam refresh, that’s him watching “a pet story” .

I want to go to Dragon Con… maybe next year, if I can wrangle Danny or another friend into going with me, and if the guests / games are good.

I could use a good blood bowl fix. (Heroclix has rebitten my miniatures wargaming cravings), and I like to kick snotlings.

Next time I go to the store, I’m going to get some cake mix. I’m in the mood for yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

Or cupcakes.

holy cow… tarpo put me on to this.. very addictive. Something therapeutic about pushing a stick man down stairs. the camera angles are evil!

my best score is 69,580. Top online real score 835,651.

I’m fresh off the phone with Dave. He’s got some sort of Mac Virus that’s changing all of this data to Pc format, or some such. I really couldn’t help him out too much… he’s using os 9ish, and my strengths are really on Unix & Windows type machines.

First rule of business… *back up your data files regularly*.

I think that he’ll be ok, but has a few hours of fix-up ahead of him…. no envy here.

I’m glad that B-boy is doing well…I was concerned about his health… speaking of which, my brother’s getting better, but slowly. He’s been cutting back on the smokes… one pack every three days, rather than a pack a day… I hope that he can shave it down to removing it.

Looks like he’s kicking his roommate out… something like the fourth month in a row he couldn’t pull his side of the rent. (The roomie can go live with his mom, until he gets his act together). I agree with the bro’s decision… the roomie’s not landing in the street.

I’m not looking forward to the anniversary of Sept 11… I fear it’ll be a big political bit of noise. I know that I had enough trouble the first time around.

I forgot to mention earlier that at the toy store, aside from the recorder, I picked up a little 25mm scale play set with a police station, fire station, parking garage, a few civilians to go with the police and firemen, a fountain with a horse stature in the middle, a couple of trees, assorted vehicles including a paddy wagon, helicopter, fire engine, and a little train engine and tanker car. Cheap for $10. (Marked down from $15) Newton had a field day with all the twist-ties that came with… and likes to sit inside the fresh cardboard box.

By the way… Yahoo maps doesn’t do the best route to the local bookstore…purple is the path that they choose… flashing red is mine. As an added bonus, I get to ride through the park, wave at the squirrels, and watch kids practice soccer. The other route goes far out of its way… I’d at least think that the path logic would go to 6th, and shoot straight north. Fewer lights, more direct route. image cut to spare folks not wanting to see a flashing pic.

On my formative years… Saturday mornings when I was seven.

I was *always* torn at 11ish… Ark II vs. Krofft supershow vs. Land of the Lost.

Ark II had a talking chimp.

Krofft – the colors! the spandex! the bay city rollers. I remember seeing them singing Saturday night.

Land of the Lost… Sleestaks and Dinosaurs. I hated the humans on the show, though. I sided with the reptiles.

Possibly Scotto’s secret origin?

The best list of possible band names ever.

This makes me think of sweetalyssm‘s puppyfrog. Good plan, crab of ineffable wisdom!

paper models, and assorted heroclix stuff…

The ACC Expo this thanksgiving weekend is going to be better than that trek happening by far.

Did I hear you ask “Why?” dear journal? I’ll tell you.

  1. It’s only four blocks from my house.
  2. The War Memorial is a huge venue.
  3. They’re going to have wacky cosplay folks dressed in Anime costumes.
  4. There’s going to be a Heroclix tournament.
  5. There’s Bound to be a big honking dealer’s room of all sorts of good stuff! (43 of the 85 booth spaces are already sold)

For starters.

$7 to get in is very reasonable, too.

Seeing that horrid website reminded me that I need to put some time in on mine today… commencing now.

No dice on the recorder.. and my nearby comic shop is price-gouging for single figures… The other place was $1 yelow, $2 blue, $3 red… PPF had the same stuff for $2 yellow, $3.50 blue, $5 red.

fark that noise… I’ll just have danny pick some up for me at the cheaper zone.

juliabee put me on to a nifty idea, too… making custom ones! I’ve got more army men than I know what to do with…the click bases don’t look too difficult to replicate.

Another fun thing.. I was in Eckerd’s, and back to school sales are going.. protractors, index cards… all sorts of cool school supplies. They still make trapper keepers! I remember waaaay back in the halcyon days of my youth when they were introduced. Before them…. oh, the humanity… a stack of duo-tang folders, a different color for each class, each course written on the cover neatly in black felt tip. If they didn’t have internal pockets, you were hosed, and possibly doomed to lose information.

I couldn’t resist. I bought a Duo-tang folder. Orange. With internal pockets. It cost me $0.23…I think it’ll be my new Recorder music book… 🙂 Now, I just have to pick up that recorder.

Talked to my sweetie… she’s going to work on her newest hobby for a few, so I’m going to go out and mill around some more. I may buy a new recorder while I’m out…and maybe a little pack of heroclix for a few buddies of mine… hee hee hee… got to spread the addiction.

We bugged out of the trek happening, quick like a bunny. It sucked pretty badly… there were a couple of stinkies there, but none really photo worthy, and the dealer room was poopy.

As a consolation prize, we went to a comic shop, and bought the Marvel Heroclix miniature combat game, then went to Dave & busters to play race car & pod racer, have lunch, and suss out the heroclix rules.

Very easy game, and quite a bit of fun. We got 8 random heroes in the box, and I bought a nice one for both me (Wasp) and Danny (Juggernaut), for about a buck apiece.

The ones that came in the box were Spider-man, Cyclops, Ultron, A skrull warrior, A hydra guy, Sabretooth, Bullseye, and the puppet Master.

I’d like to pick up the hulk, dr strange, captain america, scarlet witch (hee… her and wasp remind me of my sweetie), Jean Grey. and Prof X… I’m looking for the fantastic four, too.

They Need DC ones… I want the Doom Patrol, Batman, Green Lantern, Misc JSA and Batgirl to add to my collection, also!

good grief! I’m glad I got a fat hd.

It looks really neat, thus far.

Well, Laundry is done!

I woke and slept in staggering shifts all night and part of the morning. I only remember a fragment of a dream…I was sitting indian-style on the floor at work, because my pants were ripped for some reason.

My brother was going to pawn his Ps2 to cover old debts…I told him I’d lend him whatever money he needed…he told me to hang onto his playstation as incentive for him to pay him back… I told him ok, but that if he really wanted it back, he could come and get it. Meantime, I have a playstation in the house. Kind of nifty to have a DVD player that’s not attached to a hard drive. (I give him three days before he’s bored out of his gourd, and wants it back. ;))

Games are – Spiderman, GTA3, a surfing game, a racecar game, a football game, a soccer game, motocross, and skateboarding.

I’m enjoying Spidey… Bruce Campbell does the tutorial and narrator voice-overs, and it’s pretty fun…. but I think that I’ll be taking a nap soon, to try to recover my electrical charge, and remove this little headache-seed that’s beginning to bloom.

The Premo’s subs by the Laundromat makes a fantastic veggie sub! Big and filling! *pats tummy* Fountain Root beer, and a choc-chip cookie for dessert. I’m set for a while.

Two years ago today, they implemented interests on LJ… I’m still disappointed that they limit them to 150 now.

Thick, hard rain just came out of *nowhere* that’s my bedtime cue. seeya, dear journal!

my first design for 1000 blank cards

Newt Headbutt.... Kitty love. +10 points
Newt Headbutt…. Kitty love. +10 points

All this notepad drawing got me thinking…

Heck… I’ve got some basic-colored shirts. *slips into a striped tan and darker khaki shirt*
*cues the music*

Newt's Clues!

We are playin’ Newt’s clues…we are playin’ newt’s clues… I wonder what they are….

A clue! A clue! Achoo? Bless you! “NOOOO SCOTTOOOOO.. A CLUUUUUE” Oh! A clue!

I’d better break out my handy-dandy palmtop.

Newt put his little paw print on these.. can you guess what game he wants to play?

Looks like R’yleh could be rising again…
