Don’t play the Doom³ demo if you’ve got a cat that is willing to sneak up on you and swat your ponytail while you’re playing, in the dark, with hair-trigger reflexes looking for zombies to pop up and be shot.

Silly Newt! Silly Scotto! In a related story, I actually say “NGyaaahh!” when startled, rather than “Holy Crap” (and variations of same) as was previously thought. I thought only Darrin Stephens #1 (Dick York, the better, more stressed out Darrin) said stuff like that.

Bro claims that he was robbed last night. I have my doubts… he claims that he filed a police report. I’m going to call him on it later. I hate not being able to trust him at all. My heart is concerned for him, but my brain tells me that this is probably a ploy for sympathy, money, and an excuse as to why the DVDs I lent him have vanished. (probably pawned.)

Dan’s pretty busy this weekend, plus he’s not over-fond of Latin culture, so I’m on my own heading to Viva Broward.

It sounds like I missed a good one last night, the second Bush / Kerry “debate”. Maybe I’ll download it and review. Probably I’ll just skip it. Did Bush actually call Terrorists “Haters”?

I feel bad for Odd Todd… it seems that his TV show didn’t take. At least he got a to make a cartoon about it. Keep a stiff upper lip, Todd! Fie on comedy Central!

Large crowd today.. I wonder if the bus prior broke down. Standing room only! We actually had to turn down riders near the end of the path.

This is what the guy played by Mel Gibson in conspiracy theory actually looks like. An old man, backpack full of carefully folded photocopies of his screed of the week. It’s generally typed, and then edited with pen afterwards. Adding to the spooky-factor, he refuses to make eye contact with anyone.

Paranoid man, part 2
Whistling while he works, he takes his stack of semi-political, but mostly misc-rant fliers, and sets to placing them in the bus-route maps…. for reinsertion into the holder. I’ve found his screeds in the local free newspapers, too.

Ack. Kiwanis was a bit of a bust. Projector broke down, and the lunch was very carnivore friendly. (I got tho have some limp asparagus and blah rice.)

I return next week to try again, with a loaner projector from BCC… (ours won’t be fixed for a few weeks, if Sharp’s service center is consistent.)

Today should be more reasonable than others recently. I plan on enjoying a bit of the weekend at Viva Broward up the road. RC’s running the place so I should be able to step in, say hi, and hang out over a beer or two. If anyone’s in the area, swing by! It’ll be the first good walkabout I’ve had in awhile. Maybe I’ll be able to tote Dan to a movie or just hang out?

$100 shotgun fits in shirt pocket

The credit card-sized shotgun is a muzzle loader, meaning it doesn’t use shotgun shells. The user has to measure out some gunpowder, pour it in each barrel, drop seven BBs in each barrel, and tamp in a small wad of paper. I met a lot of interesting and influential people last night. Lorraine Thomas (Wife of Dave Thomas, of Wendy’s Fame) is a nice gal and very conversational. Very personable for a person that has more money than most of the countries on earth. Congressman “Skip” Campbell is a politician… he mentioned the dirty name of JW, but all worked out. FDLE folk are always a pleasure to talk to.

Sakes… if I ever thought waste management=mafia before… Man. I’ll tell you, what I saw would set any cause to change that presupposition back a good couple of decades. Nice guys… Dangerous, greasy mooks, but nice, dangerous, greasy mooks.

Demos went well, and impressed most of the crowd, especially the P.I.s and Legal-folk.

pente.net is slow about getting emails out… it just got around to letting me know that I’ve had a couple of turns waiting for the last 18 months.

Kiwanis lunch meeting today… I’m going to be the youngest person by at least 30 years…in some cases, the youngest by nearly 60. I’ll be helping one of the members to do a presentation with the overhead projector, so my life as an A/V Geek in junior high is returning to haunt me. I will get a few hours out of the office and a free lunch out of it, so it’s a good deal.

RC hooked me up with a lot of promotional goodies from Latin Fest… I’ve got Giant t-shirts and visors for all sorts of booze companies, now. I like the Finlandia shirt the best. What Finnish Vodka has to do with Latin Music, I have no idea.

Newtie liked his presents yesterday.. thanks for all the well-wishes! We didn’t get to condo-shop, though.. the Realtor bailed at the last minute. Maybe Thursday?

American Date formatting is a pet peeve of mine… I think that “Month-Day-Year” makes the very least sense possible. I think that “Year-Month-Day” or “Day-Month-Year” is a bit more rational. Ah well… I like the metric system, too.

Keeping a positive mindset, and hoping for more good news to roll my way. Keeping my spirits high and optimism up. I’ve noticed a drop in my appetite lately… I wonder what’s causing that? Usually, I start to get munchier this time of year.

The Eldar are a real thorn in my side. Gimme Orks any day. I’m up to mission #7, thus far. (Staying true to my 1 mission a day… it’s tempting to blow the whole day playing it.)

I want some fresh sweet corn with my meal tonight… I wonder if it’s in season?

Meeting with the women in technology board this afternoon. I hope it’s quick and painless… this week’s going to be busy… Cocktail Party on Wednesday, Kiwanis presentation Thursday. I’ll be happy when this week is over, and it’s hardly begun.

I was right, took me about three hours, and I got a nice bonus check and an Italian lunch out afterwards.

The gang will be happy with the new machines… flat screens, better boxes, and cordless keyboard/mice for some. HP is really quite good about granted equipment, if you’re willing to dance around the paperwork.

Shuffling into work on a Saturday, to set up some computers while there’s minimal foot-traffic. We’re going to to the 3-way shuffle. New box the LD, LD’s box to RR, RR’s box to the scrap heap. Normally, that wouldn’t be so bad, but doing all of the installing and configging will be pesky. I may be helping LD and LH swap desks, and pertinent computers, too. If I multitask, I foresee a 3-4 hour job, if everything runs smoothly.

Big Kahuna may be slipping me a bonus to do so… it’d be nice if that’s the case.

Sketch-a-move. Neat Idea for a toy car… it follows the path you draw on it. nifty concept. one of the more cool things I’ve seen lately.
