Does anyone else remember hearing that “w” is also sometimes a vowel?
When I was a little kid, they used to do the whole “A, E, I, O, U, and sometimes Y” thing with an added “and sometimes W” on the end.
In diphthongs, “w” acts as a vowel component by gliding off another vowel sound, such as in “how” or “cow.”
“W” acts as a vowel when present in a diphthong like “low” or “cow.”
