Walkies 3 Aug 2021

Social isolation day 508.

#swampwalk with @maximillian_deersteak was difficult for me today. Back was tricking up and body just did not want to do the thing. It did the thing anyway, at least for a quick loop. Thankfully, it was overcast so heat and humidity didn’t add to the struggle. Always lovely to go walking with Max, they took the shots of the little mushroom and red leaf.

#bogsafari report had very little visual to report. Every other human-type (maybe 8) out walking on the road was maskless. Did see a cute flurfy black / white splotched mop dog, and a black labrador puppy that were both adorable. Two kids did some seriously heavy-footed running. It seemed like the were using the whole bottom of the sneaker to hit the ground at once. There were fresh fewments of a large dog added to the side of the road at one point, and that scenet mixed with a sweeter plant to make an odd atmospheric blend before we hit the woods proper.

In the wooded area, there was the sound of one frog, a number of birds and seemingly no insects or spiders. Probably too cool for the lizards and turtles to make an appearance.  No cats, groundhogs,  possum or such to be seen. I did spot a used box of smoke bombs that we didn’t see yesterday.

Got home and stretched, and had a shower,  so hopefully the old back will feel better soon.

July 30, 2021

Masks officially started a year ago in Maryland. Governor here is screwing up given the current delta situation and bad count of vaccinations.

the face of rising numbers of COVID-19 cases, Gov. Larry Hogan took a moment at the beginning of Wednesday’s Board of Public Works meeting to push vaccines for anyone who has not gotten one.
Hogan made no mention of masks, however, despite an announcement Tuesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that certain vaccinated people should resume wearing masks, and despite warnings this week from Baltimore officials that, if cases continue to climb, the city may reinstitute a mask mandate.

Swampwalk isolation day 139

Left at about 730am and it was already 77°F. I was hoping it would get my blood pumping and wake me up a bit after a rough night sleeping.

It did not work. I got some good walking in, and took a good stumble but at least it was onto soft dirt. No noticable damage to me or the swamp, save for a minor dirt dent in the forest floor. Good to be home now, in AC, and a shower will feel good once I cool down.

Mosquitoes were more active, but not horrendous. Minimal bird or squirrel activity, no sign of cats or other fauna.

Masks are officially on in Maryland for the moment, despite a few dipthongs being angry about having to be cautious to protect other people.

From the announcement

“Effective this Friday, July 31 at 5 p.m., we are expanding the current statewide masking order requiring the wearing of masks or face coverings in the public spaces of all businesses across the state. Face coverings will also be required at outdoor public areas whenever it is not possible to maintain physical distancing.

This expansion of the masking order is an action that is fact-based, apolitical, and solidly grounded in science. While it can be an inconvenience, especially in the heat, the science and the data are very clear: wearing masks is the single best mitigation strategy we have to fight this virus. It is the best way to keep you and your family safe, to keep people out of the hospital, and to keep Maryland open for business. If you do nothing else, wearing a mask alone would help us significantly slow the spread of this virus and continue on our road to health and economic recovery.”

I really think dolts are going to wreck it for the rest of us, and a shutdown will ultimately be the only way to put a cap on things.

CVS, you are a problem.

I just got back from my local CVS. I couldn’t refill my Rx because they were “All out of this type of medication until next month. If you want, you can try again in August.”

This isn’t an insurance limitation, at least not on my end. I can take the scrip to another drugstore and get it filled there (if they don’t have the same situation, I guess) Apparently, they are ok just turning people away trying to get meds.

What the hell? I have to wait a week and a half to get meds that I should have today. (I could even understand having to wait until tomorrow to have it shipped, if they ran out)

These guys have been problem before, for other reasons, and we went to this CVS because the other one up the street was problematic to the point of me giving them the nickname of “clown shoes”.

Before that, the pharmacy at Safeway frequently made errors like giving bad medicine counts or the wrong bag to me.

I am currently trying to decide what to do with this Rx. Maybe it is time to try my local Harris Teeter Pharmacy.
