8161 – Friday, what to do?
Called CompUSA last night around 4pm, and the voice mail is full. do they not ever check it?
Called the manager, Jackie, and said a tech would call me back once finished with a customer. I requested an eta, and she said “a half hour, tops.
I called back 2 hours later after no call came in. I spoke to Steve, who said that he’ll call and find out the problem, and for me to call him at noon tomorrow if I haven’t heard back from him yet. Let’s see what the excuse is this time.
As assumed, no Danny today, so plan B – walkabout. Treat myself to good times. Chinese Buffet for lunch, maybe CJ’s for dinner. Work out. Wander someplace I’ve never been before. I think I’m going to pass on the spa, unless I stumble across it in my journeys.
FP will take place tomorrow with Kev and Tomi, maybe Brad?

Had a nice day so far, slept in, played with Newt, rode the bike downtown and got my homestead, voter’s registration, and ID all straightened out for the new address. I think I’m pretty much done transferring stuff to the new place, now. The new Florida state ID cards are pretty, and apparently I straighten out to 6’6″ on the wall height chart.

Danny’s getting sick, so probably no get-together tomorrow. Poor guy sounds more disappointed than I am that he’ll have to use his sick day actually being sick. My Plan B? Probably go to the spa and get a sports massage and try to get some jacuzzi-time in.

Odd, considering yesterday’s news, that I took Wilt and the Momster to see The Matador last night (Was going to do Kong again, but a 3 hour movie on a “school night” is a no no for me)…sort of a chaotic film, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone in particular, but I liked it, after a fashion. Maybe a bit too much of some things and not enough of others…. very vague, but if you’ve seen it, you probably know what I mean. About an assassin for hire, not an actual matador. Not quite a comedy, not quite a thriller… great acting by both leads.

Worked Late both Tuesday and Wednesday…I’m hoping that I can but out a bit early today or ideally tomorrow, maybe to give me time to pick up big brain if it’s all better by then.
Well, this might calm down some holier than thou Mozilla preachers out there (don’t get me wrong, I surely prefer firefox over MSIE – but anytime somethinggets a new feature, some clown will find a way to clog the pipes.) Problematic enough that Livejournal is reformatting how page URLs are laid out. Added Kudos to LJ_maint for being about as vague as possible regarding this issue in the meantime. [update – news clarifies things a bit better here. ]
My suspicions about Lost seem to be coming to light –
From Damon Lindelof (one of the creators of the show) – “If you’re watching the show because you’re waiting for the big answers to come, you have to understand that by the nature of what it is — it’s not a movie, it’s not a series of movies, it’s not a trilogy, it’s not a miniseries — it’s going to be on the air for as long as ABC wants to keep it on the air…how can you ever possibly think that Lost will end in a satisfying way? Carlton (the other co creator) and I can almost guarantee you that it will not.“
That said, I still dug the Mr. Eko/Charlie/Island Monster Episode enough to follow along. I just won’t plan for it all to come together in any good way when the show ends… I’ll just toss it in the box with X-files, Twin Peaks, and the rest. Like those, when it turns to poop, I’ll stop watching, until someone recommends a particular episode. Heck, I’d already resigned myself to that anyhow.

I don’t know what I was thinking… that all of the homeless would pack up and go into lockdown, but they seemed even more populous than ever on the ride to work yesterday. I mentally tallied 36 as the bus rolled by them.
Big Brain’s video card arrived damaged. Murphy’s law, I imagine. They’re sending another one, and it should be installed by Friday. Gary, the Head muck-de-muck apologized again, and gave me “his personal guarantee” that it would be installed and my machine would be ready for use by Friday after work.
Yeah, yeah, right, right. We’ll see.
Is it a sign of Newt really disliking my mashed potatoes if he hops on the table and scratches, trying to cover it up like it was in the sandbox? I suspect the chives are what set him off.
