This miniature hobbit house is insane! Outstanding detail… I’m quite impressed. It’d be cool to use as a miniatures wargaming set piece. (thanks, applelard )
8116 – Work, again? BOB SAGAT!
I didn’t do much of anything this weekend. I didn’t put on shoes. I didn’t leave the third floor. I did clean house, laundry, etc.
Watched the heck out of the Kong DVDs… all the special edition stuff… Harryhausen’s test footage and the documentary on “the making of” was pretty dang impressive, and Harryhausen’s commentary was good on the movie disc, too. A lot of it was interpolated, due to the movie being over 70 years old.. just about everyone remotely involved in the project are long deceased. It worked out quite nicely, however, since the material hasn’t changed in that span,either.
Mr. T doing a happy little dance. (don’t sniff the rest of the site unless you’re not at work and have a strong stomach.)

8114 – Sunday Dawns and I’m already awake.
The nudge feature is mostly pointless, I think. You could accomplish the the same thing handily with an e-mail or comment in their journal. I hope that they continue to implement other more groovy features. I do confess that it’s interesting to see when some of the more tardy people have last posted… I’m more likely to just drop someone that hasn’t posted in about three months. (unless they’re a very special circumstance)
I’ve found that I have another superpower: the ability to make RS have to go pee. If we get into a discussion about anything for more than a minute or three, she has to rush off to the potty, do her business and come back when done. This has been documented at least a dozen times, and she’s able to stay at her desk for hours on end.
Last night’s dream involved me being strapped to a table with electrodes bolted to my ankles. When they ran current through them, all of my skin began to peel like a bad sunburn and underneath the fresh skin was a dark, mossy green. Somehow I knew that the treatments were causing a strange growth of all my internal flora… whatever else touched the new skin (like a a scalpel) it burned and was turned quickly to vapor. I don’t recall any smells. They finally figured out that shark’s teeth could touch the new skin without burning up, so they incised and pulled out the rock that was making the bad plant-reaction in my body. I was healed, and buried the rock in the ground of an empty lot, hoping it would help jump start a fresh garden there.
It’s hard to chop down a tree with a saw made of shark’s teeth.
No Dice going out with Dave or Dave last night… Today it’s going to be more solo journeys, methinks.

Thank you, dear Shoo! My birthday present got here early, but I was good and didn’t unwrap the gift paper unless she said I could.
And she did. I got the 2-disc Special Edition of King Kong (1933)! Yay!
Much love to all the family Shoo in Shoo-ville! Newt also likes the box quite a lot, too. He’s currently sitting inside, gnawing on a cardboard flap.
Took a lovely late night swim in the pool at about 2am. The water was warmer than the air, which is always nice. I had a brief moment of iguana-fear, which quickly passed after I gave a quick sweep of the area. Very soothing to float on my back, staring at the moon and just thinking and feeling my toes and fingertips wrinkle up a little. Water is still the closest thing to hitting a reduced gravity environment for me… quite peaceful and I could feel a lot of physical tension flow away from my back, legs and shoulders. I was shivering a bit, despite the warm water, and I don’t know what that was…maybe the body unkinking? I may make a habit of nighttime soaks more often.

VS and KTM both submitted resignations this week.. that’s pretty much the entire community relations department. They’ll both be gone before my birthday. I hate to sound greedy, but I really hope this won’t affect my making a long weekend out of Feb 2-5 next month. I wonder how long RR has left before he high-tails it, too?

It’s a little flattering when folks use my icons as their own… Newtie Blah-blah is the latest one discovered in use by someone else. (Sadly, I’ve had to ask her to remove it, due to reasons of senitment and copyright.)
Grabbed the latest episode of Lost after getting high marks from a few people I trust… haven’t watched it yet, but have heard that it focuses on Eko, Charlie and the monster.
Also, Doctor Who will be airing on the Sci-fi channel starting in March. Funny how they changed their tune… I guess Battlestar Galactica’s success alone couldn’t float stinkburgers like Mansquito and the bulk of it’s original programming.

8106 – Fairly newt-intensive post.
See what happens after I move away from Los Olas? They paint the whole area with free wifi. There were a ton of free hotspots to start with, but now it seems pretty constant. I’m just glad the main library has a big touchstone now…. students can bring their own appliances in and get data, rather than wait on the computer banks in the 3rd, fifth and ground floors. I can only imagine how much bittorrenting of pirated er, archival stuff over a big open network will happen.
I might get a chance to hang out with Dave Attell this week or next. More on that as it happens or doesn’t. He’s back on tour.
