Lovely time seeing Pirates yesterday.. I think it could’ve been trimmed down to about 2/3 to 1/2 the time, though. Good mindless fun. Moonlight diner has very tasty cheese-fries, and the cherry-chocolate milkshakes are awesome, too. sugar shock!
After dindin, it was too wet to putt-putt, so we headed back to Britta’s house, and watched tv, chitty-chatted, and hung out until the wee hours. Lance was kind enough to give me a haul home, even after a bit of a communications error.
Out with Danny today to buy a rope swing and have a bite of lunch, and see what’s what.

8538 – recap and archives and ducks because it’s raining
Danny and I went to see Accepted yesterday, and it was surprisingly entertaining for a movie of it’s ilk. Lewis Black has aged a lot since I saw him in concert in ’02. After, we went to thai food, and that was wonderfully delicious. Panang curried veggies, a cucumber salad and thai iced tea for me. yum a lum lum.
He was feeling not so great when we first started, but got to pretty good by the time we were done. I’m glad that it worked out. by 8pm, he was a sleepy boy, so we hit duncan doughnuts and got some coffee for his trip home, and called it a night.
Slow and lazy day today… Fatima cleaned up, I got to chitty chat on the phone, had a midday nap, read my book, snuggled with Newt, doing laundry now. Impersonated Liberace to someone over the phone to someone who thought my voice was sexy, previously.

Netflix blessed me with the first season of The Tick. Good Background stuff to play while getting other bits and pieces in order. It seems a bit more simple and primitave than I remember, but still entertaining. The first Season is surely the best one, in my opinion.
“Pajama police” is a great wise guy name for costumed supers.
Getting together with Danny today, probably for just a gabfest and some sushi. Possibly Zoom? It’s gotten pretty bad reviews. We’ll probably grab another day this weekend, too… take advantage of the Labor Day weekend. Maybe some putt-putt with Tina and Co. too, if it’s still on. Walkabout would be nice, too – time, weather and health permitting.
At night projections from moving cars are shone on the buildings downtown. Each car projects a video of a wild animal. The animal’s movements are programmed to correspond to the speed of the car: as the car moves, the animal runs along it speeding up and slowing down with the car, as the car stops, the animal stops also. The framerate of the movie corresponds to the speed of the wheel rotation, picked up by a sensor. If the presence of a moving object (such as another car or pedestrian) is detected with proximity sensors, its animal “avatar” appears in the projection.

Can’t say as I’ve ever been so enthused about Monday, but it means I’m one day closer to vacation. Most of my walkies yesterday were just random, meandering zigzags around the sofla landscape.
I have to keep my thoughts fairly contained, but there are surely times where I wish I could leap ahead in time to the grander moments. (of course there are also points where I wish I could hold a moment forever, so I suppose it all balances out.)
8518 – HP Lovecraft’s Birthday… again, already?
Palmtran rather stinks. Route 92 only runs until 5pm on Saturday? That made a 2pm walkabout sort of tight.
Plus, it was raining.
Plus, I’m a big ol’ lazy slacker man who preferred to lounge around the hacienda all day.
So, no Sugar Sand Saturday. Perhaps Sunday is the day to do it? We’ll see how sturdy I am about pursuing it.
First bus is at 730 am (I’ll shoot for be on the 10am ride – It *is* Sunday after all)
Saturday was devoted to lounging about the house, playing with Newton, watching the first four episodes of The Shield (good call, graypumpkin!), browsing Weird Maryland, sleepy talk on IM / looking to the week ahead, napping to the sound of rain… and having veggie burgers for dinner.
Maroone Moonlight Movies returns to Huizenga Plaza on Friday, August 25th at Sundown! (I’ll be buttering birthday noses, but it’s good to see the movies back now that it’s cooling off again) It’s pooch friendly, and the movie is All Dogs Go To Heaven.
Fiesta Ft. Lauderdale is next weekend, too.

I have a soft spot for this place… one of the few joints that’ll show art house / revival / non mainstream type stuff. Last thing I saw there was Superman – old-school seating… I’ve been spoiled by recliners and stadium-style. The last indy film I caught was the They Might Be Giants documentary.
They just need to get more interest in 70s kung fu movies or giant atomic-breathing dinosaurs and we’ll be right on.
