What was I doing at five-thirty in the morning? My body woke up, and I just assumed it was time to get moving. I’m not used to hopping out of bed early like that.
Maybe I can slip in some memes and linkies, after all.
All my lj-mail that was stuck in queue have finally rolled into my inbox. forgive me for replying late to some things.. I didn’t know they were there!
Oldest one is from June 12.
Well, I broke a c-note on my adsense account… we’ll see how quickly google decides to send me my check. (they have until the end of September to do it, because I rolled right on the first of august… they get 30 days from the end of any month ending with >$100.
A German company offered me another $20 to put a “sponsoren” link on my main page, too It’s small and unobtrusive… and links to text, no graphics, no pop ups and no porn. So far, my ad-links are paying about $90-100 a month on average, all told. I’m amazed… this is almost as good as what designers in there were making about six months ago. I don’t know how long it’ll last, but I’ll happily take the money until they decide to stop paying me.
I notice that all of my adsense links are for public service items today… a result of the hundred dollar hump?
With comics like these, I can’t help but vote redemopublicratican. Godzilla has my vote all over Morgan Freeman. warning, some potty-mouthage.
Ah, now I’m happy.
I take great pleasure from tropical rainstorms… even if I get soaked to the bone waiting for a bus, the massive crashes of thunder and the perfect sedative nature of being at home with all this noise outside is perfectly restive.
I’m here, comfortably curled up with a blanket and Newt… the only thing that’d make it better would be having my sweetheart under the covers with me. (and the additional fur-kids, too.)
Counting Newts is even better than counting sheep to fall asleep.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Tom Ridge announced today that the threat level is being raised from Elevated-“Yellow” to High-“Orange” for the financial districts of New York City and Washington D.C. There is no specific threat to Florida and the state remains at a “Yellow” or elevated level along with the rest of the country.
“Florida remains at Yellow. The public can be confident in the fact Florida has a sound domestic security strategy and protocol in place,” said Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Guy Tunnell. “However, it is important for Florida’s citizens and visitors to be vigilant while continuing with their daily activities.”
Precautions the public can take are very similar to steps residents would take for a hurricane. They include:

I’ve got to remember to drop my monthly monies in the mail to the landlord. Bro’s court date is either tomorrow, or Wednesday, I forget which. I’m sure I’ll be reminded by end of day.
I can’t believe that I’ve been at my current gig for almost a year now. Serious time compression / dilation on that side of things.
Cripes… speaking of which, I have my Monday meeting today.. there goes another few hours into the john, unless I can give my update, and bug out.
I’m rather groggy… yesterday’s rainstorm put me in some sort of precipitation and cat-snuggle coma for a longer span of time that I needed to sleep. I fell into a deep slumber surrounded by the sounds of water hitting windows and roof, much rolling thunder, and Newt-purrs.
I’m really glad that the pro-wrestling trend has again retreated back into the seedy, tacky corner it came from. Now, I can cope with the wacky stuff like Luchadores and Midget Wresting (or best of all, a joining of the two), but the mainstream WWF/WWE/WWwhatever was just boring and invasive. I haven’t felt this good about something not bombarding my media since Clive Barker faded from view.
Ok, this is probably a rental, but I’d love to see a movie with thunderbirds-type puppets doing satire on the big screen, too. Team America – World Police
Spiffy Scarecrow game… Makes me long for Halloween.
Can’t play a particular DiVX movie? This codec pack might help (Klite is just codecs, mega is codecs plus a quicktime alternative and a realplayer alternative) it’s kept fairly up to date, so it’s worth checking back the next time a DiVX doesn’t work in the future, too.![]()
Interesting quote that applies to many blogs out here…
“You will just have to accept being addressed by a disembodied voice just as I accept the compulsion to speak out even though I am painfully aware that I am talking to an invisible, perhaps nonexistent audience.”
–Robert Shea, The Eye in the Pyramid
I wonder how much my intelligence and personality has been altered as a result of playing with mercury when I was in high school?![]()
How many IQ points were lost? Any added paranoia? Dementia? What aspects were opened and closed?
I won’t even venture into other chemical changes.
Didn’t do much with Danny last night… went to the Ole’ Ole’, got a plate of loaded nachos and a couple of margaritas, and meandered a little while talking about nothing in particular. The evening was interrupted briefly by the big kahuna calling in on my cell phone, and my giving her a quick tutorial on how to use outlook express to send attachments.
We walked over to the Museum of Discovery and Science, where I picked up a couple of trinkets of happiness for assorted folks. A little treatie-wheatie for my sweetie, in particular… Also, I need to get a few other addresses to send stuff.

The Museum ‘f Art trip was ok, but short. Three major exhibits, and little things here and there.
All of the following were taken with ye olde palm camme… sneaky-spy like.

In the indigo room… everything there was blue, and looked aquatic. Those are hands reaching for the noggin.

Little kids in turtlenecks can be sort of creepy. Especially in the summertime.
Whirlwind days lately.. lots of work to do, pressure high. I’m dealing with it pretty well, but LH nearly quit I think.
Skinbags – gear made out of synthetic human skin. (in all sorts of shades.. black, asian, pink white, mixed, and Tattoo personalization : name, sentence, logo)
Oh, I really rather think the aprons are something. Yeek!
Gene Simmons sings Firestarter.
Also Yeek. I wonder if he’s a real doofus, of if his public life is another Andrew Dice Clay act?
This whole touch screen thing makes Florida look like it *wants* to be guilty of more voter drama.
My sensitivities to my environment are out of whack a little bit, today. I feel numb to some things, and overly aware of others. Every hair on my right arm seems to be a high-powered sensor.
Recently played music –
I’ve been using launch radio, calendar, weather, news and games a lot lately on my Y!M. Tasty little app.
oOmiaq wrote me recently, and thanked me for listening to his music. My pleasure, oOm.
Dan bailed for tonight, but we’ll probably get together tomorrow. I don’t mind, save for the short notice. I don’t really want to go to the Seminole casino on a flippin’ Friday, so that’s going to have to wait. I’m not sure what I want to do for my solo Saturday walkabout, yet. That Moonlight movie is that night… that could be a fun time. Maybe I’ll hit Port Everglades during the day, and see if I can spot some free-swimming manatees or turtles. I found out after my recent trip to Miami that there’s a natural calving / nursery area there.
Maybe tonight I’ll hit the Museum ‘f Art. It’s free until the end of August, just up the street, open until 9pm on Thursdays, and air-conditioned.

I’ve been at it for more than a few years now….posting at least once a day. Sometimes a good deal more, but generally first thing in the morning.
I think that keeping a daily log of stuff is a low-grade compulsion… what would it be in champions? Common, Moderate? 10 points? Maybe I’ve bought it down closer to a 1-point GURPS quirk in recent years. Still devoted enough to do daily entries, but the 8x a day is probably gone until I’m bedridden or something.
I’ve been working on my writing again, and am going to try to submit a few oldies to a few new places.
Major Reworking of the company website ahead. I look forward to it having some freshness, but I fear for a lack of marketing skill and “too many cooks” syndrome before everything settles back down.
I got my $20 back! The ATM guy went to look at the machine, saw the bill wedged in the device inside the hopper, and called my voice mail about 10am. I called him back at about 4pm, and he rant the bill right to my door. you can’t ask for better service than that!
It’s occurred to me that if anyone else did to my brother what he did to himself, I’d probably have killed the bastard.
Gallery of retro science book covers – I had access to a *lot* of these as a kid. I know for certain that I had Dinosaurs, Rocks & Minerals, Rockets & Missiles, The Human Body, and Oceanography.
My neighbor Jason had copies of Horses and Primitive Man, too. I wonder how much the impacted our growth as kids? Not a great deal, I suspect.. don’t most kids go through a dinosaur / science phase? (Some never escape it.)
