7077 – Sunday, Already?

Yesterday, Dan and I headed out first thing to hit a nearby Japanese animation convention…

Travelling to Miami
Our trip to Miami… note tinkle pig in the lower left hand corner.

But, unfortunately, Otaku-con was a bust. Every time we go to a convention, we expect organization, and get chaos. A case could be made for getting a refund, with the video rooms being down for hours and hours, and none of the panels active. We left early, and just chitty-chatted, and had some pizza. Before we left, I had a good laugh after seeing this sort of sheet set.. I was most impressed by the DDR kids, and the LAN-party room.

As stated earlier, more cute girls, more hygiene than gaming cons, (which is like saying more than a tent city south of the border) and more openly pervy stuff. Randomness – Dan Likes Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter, but has never seen Raising Arizona. I think I may have to get it for him for Christmas / his B’day.

The Boat Parade was yesterday… a high-traffic affair, though when they’re lit up, the boats can be quite lovely. Mel came over after Dan headed home and we skipped the parade, instead flopped around the apartment and jibba-jabba’d. Stalker was picked up by the cops last night… I hope they leave him in jail until trial.

Foamy’s Got a Christmas rant, too.

Today, I take call for a couple of hours from 2-4, Take Mel to see a movie, (Oceans 12, or Lemony.) visit with the mom, and then back to my place to hang out.

Thank you for the cards, tempestmir, resilience, and mintygirl!

7073 – Ok. I can make it through one more day.

Mel came over last night… we ate and lounged and talked about a lot of stuff. She’s got a wicked sense of humor, and can crack me up easily. She’s also altogether too willing to tickle.

She was kind of afraid to tell me that she is a born-again Christian… I can understand that, given my pretty solidly agnostic stance. We discussed it, and I think that there’s a good comfortable middle that can be met. She’s a pretty fascinating study… I’m really glad I met her. Much deep talk about motivations and directions. Many facets there, and I care for her very much. I’m quite confident that those feelings are reciprocated.

Steak comes from the Saxon word steik, meaning “meat on a stick”.

Newt was a bit spazzy last night. Very Energetic.
(this may be a *slight* exaggeration.)

7072 – Almost to the weekend…

Got to hang with Mel after work, and until we were staggeringly sleepy last night… last time for a bit, she’s got to work until Sunday on her gig. We spent our time together eating ziti, watching tv, laughing like fools, and exchanging stories about bodily functions.

She had no interest in going to the gig, but will do so, just out of a sense of duty. I wish I could go with her, but I’ll be at work during most of it.

I wonder if I’ll get a chance to meet up GP and Katt this holiday season?

Saturday is Otaku-con with Danny, and I should do laundry and Christmas shop a bit in the meantime.

Sunday, we’ll both have a late lunch with the mom. I’m looking forward to that. No, really!

8:15 fund-raising demo, and a 10:15 tech training. somewhere in between, I get to teach Jill how to do web-stats, and some more advanced html, like tables.

I also have to teach Eric and Mona how to do sexual predator stuff before I decide to dash off for vacation.

Making Fiends #14

1 year ago – food, thinking, 12 days

2 years ago – deep sleeps, gender benders, doodle cartoon,

3 years ago – Modern ruins, Goethe, misc

4 years ago – Michael Peter’s Rules, dreams, cryptozoo, boat parade

7069 – Hump day! Great man, dig.

Random Mel & Scotto Factoids – She has me beat in the disaster column, having been electrocuted (and hospitalized for a month) and run down by a truck while on foot…. to my being run over by a car when on a scooter.

We both do a pretty weird variety of strange voices and can sing newt to a level of total confusion. She does better kitty-sounds and harmony, I do better baby noises and evil laugh.

Mel does not like soup, and I do. Especially broccoli & cheese.

We had a nice afternoon together. I helped her do some legal paperwork, and she took me to dinner at Quiznos.

Dan hasn’t met her yet, but that’ll probably change by this weekend.

Bro still in jail, he needed his forms notarized and with copies of prescriptions. Nobody knew, and the first time he saw his public defender was when he arrived in court. He’s going to be in jail for the holidays, it seems, at least until Jan 15.

I miss the brainstorming sessions that GP and I had over the never-made TV series “Gorilla Girl”.

Did you miss monkey day yesterday?

I wonder how Newt would deal with either a bubble machine or a fog machine in the apartment?

I want blueberry pancakes. I guess an apple and more instant breakfast will have to do. Bah. I desire a field trip to IHoP.

Happy Birthday, tarpo!

Handy vocabulary words –

Cousin-Betty: A deranged woman. Cousin-Tommy is applied to a man in that melancholy situation. (William Carr’s Dialect of Craven, 1828)

Gammerstang: Usually applied to a female of idle, loose habits (C. Clough Robinson’s Dialect of Mid-Yorkshire, 1876)

ADP failed a test of reliability last, to launch a sexual predator call at 7pm. I launched it at 7:30, and she called back.. it’s too bad, if she’d have passed, she might’ve gotten more time back again… but now, it seems that she has lost her chance. I keep pitching out softballs, and she keeps missing ’em.

7066 – Ma-ia-hii / Ma-ia-huu / Ma-ia-hoo / Ma-ia-haha

Added the stars to the website / blog background again for Christmas

I have no idea why I like this Romanian pop music, but I do. Lyrics I dare you not to sing at least the “ma-ia-hii” refrain.

I finally got around to watching Oceans 11. Fun little caper flick. Mel & I got sick on Pollo Tropical for lunch… I got a headache, and she got some ickies, too. No Parrot Jungle for us. We hung out while feeling icky-ish, and then called it an early night around 8. It was sort of nice, though we were both sickish. Newt was very sweet to us both… probably out of a understanding sicky vibe. (He can get fairly jealous of Mel at times.) We spent the evening surfing the web for places to find ideas about breeding birds, swapping stories about our respective skeleton closets, and found a solution to the cubase problem.

I wouldn’t mind catching Oceans 12.

Somebody plugged the manatee kiss video to ipodder… I’d really like to know who the original referrer is… if anyone out there could let me know, I’d appreciate it.

A Year Later

7064 – The Damned Don’t Dance

“What could account for such a bizarre fluctuation in the populace?
War? Famine? Rampant Cannibalism?”
“CANNIBALISM! I VOTE CANNIBALISM!!”

No Parrot jungle, helped Mel get her place ready for her gram, who’ll be staying with her for an indeterminate amount of time, while she mends. We did spend some time sniffing around for holiday prezzies for Dan and Kev, most unsuccessfully. We journeyed up to to the strip mall of sin and the mall of the dead… I showed her my old stomping grounds and told her the story of no-nose.

The Mall of the dead is being massively renovated, by the way. A big ol’ Lowes is there where it was just dirt the last time I was by, and the front entrance is being redone, covered in scaffolding.

Parrot jungle is open today. Maybe we can make it.

What’s that song? – I gambled with making the artist “misc” and won.

Ugh. If I wasn’t a vegetarian before, I would be now! Hardee’s Monster Thickburger Come on. 1,420 calories, 107 grams of fat, 229 grams of cholesterol, and 2,651 grams of sodium? There’s got to be some sort of law. Even if you ate two big macs, you’d still be short 200 calories, 40 grams of fat, 70 grams of cholesterol, and 600 grams of sodium. Feel free to read GiT’s review. The freak got fries with the “sandwich”.

Wow… a lot of people (141, as of this count) downloading the UFO theme mentioned recently. Much more popular than the other stuff.

Gigantor Trailer… I’m actually pretty glad that the robots aren’t graceful.

Moment of Lyric – Happy Rhodes, Ra Is A Busy God

I wish you could stay
I only want to play and play
But you’re such a busy god
and I’m such a mortal, Ra

…Where’re you going, Ra?
Take me with you, Ra.
