7062 – My Henna tattoo reads “forever”

Field Trip to Parrot Jungle I think. Camera safari! Overdue for a day-trip. [update: that’s not going to happen, at least not today.]

Does anyone know how to convert Cubase files to a wav or mp3? My buddy’s been trying to use cubase in conjunction with fruity loops for quite a while now, and I don’t know the littlest bit about the programs (or most music software). Or does Cubase have some sort of WAV file plug in? I’ll have to make a point of asking leftyrok and sebab especially.

Assault With A Pork Chop

DECEMBER 10–Meet Ernesto Hernandez-Rosales. The 39-year-old Oklahoma inmate has been charged with the pork chop assault of a fellow resident of the Lexington Correctional Center. According to investigators, Hernandez-Rosales tried last month to settle a beef by stabbing Jermaine Portillo, 21, in the eye with a “sharpened pork chop bone.” Hernandez-Rosales, who is already serving an eight-year sentence for marijuana distribution, was named this week in a felony information charging him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Portillo, who was not seriously injured in the pork bone attack, is doing a 20-year stretch for armed robbery. A prior prison stay was also eventful, with Portillo getting charged at one point with illegally “placing body fluid on government employee.”

7061 – Keep your nose in the wind and your eyes along the skyline.

Criminy. Holiday stresses are getting to the hen house. Do I care? No, I do not.

Peaceful thoughts for those in difficult times right now.

Morning Newt-stretch, from behind his pink ears.

Tomorrow night, I’m going to help Mel unpack her house, and we’ll see where the weekend takes us. I’m looking forward to spending time with her again… funny how two days can stretch on.

Lost is getting more serialized/cliffhanger style lately. I’m definitely digging it.

I’ve never had to light a fire to survive in winter.

I’ve been hit so hard that I’ve seen flashes of light.

I want to swim in a fresh water lake by a smooth pebble beach.

I’ve only had alcohol from a jug once, and I was disappointed that it wasn’t marked “XXX”

I’ve plucked and dressed at least two dozen chickens, and hated doing it every time.

I don’t currently own a gun, for fear that I might use it in anger, or otherwise carelessly.

I’ve been to a sweat lodge, and it wasn’t my thing.

I’m amused by the idea of starting off as an egg, and I wonder about the origin of the protein that split it, before it was a sperm. What did my father eat, before he processed it into a seed? I flatter myself, by hoping it was a fly he swallowed while on his motorcycle, or maybe a bit of chocolate honey-dipped doughnut. I wonder how many pieces of me that have fallen, flaked or broken off in my life have gone on to become flies or doughnuts again?

I take fresh water for granted. I take a lot of modern things for granted.

I haven’t planted a tree in a long time. I’m overdue.

I have no real need for prezzies this Christmas. I’ve been asked by a few people, and I still have no idea what to tell them. Just good tidings, and peaceful spirits.

I wonder what mark I’ll leave behind, if any. Who’s going to remember me a hundred years after I’m dead? Ten? One year? I suppose it doesn’t really matter since I won’t actually know. I’d like to think that the chain of events from some action of mine could make someone else’s life better, 200 years from now.

Best line from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – “You’ll find a slight squeeze on the hooter an excellent safety precaution, Miss Scrumptious.”

1 year ago – movie clapper poll, hakarl, RI a bitch, Rudolph: Behind the scenes.

2 years ago – Rubber monsters, the four humors, feculence, Jane Goodall believes in bigfoot, prezzies

3 years ago – autochthonous, Nobel prize, Cetus, BEAR WINS; SUIT LOSES

4 years ago – nifty links, Fidel Castro’s John Lennon statue, and life’s perfectly swell, KMFDM

7060 – crisp apple strudel sounds good, too.

Moment of Lyric –

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

Some of my Favorite Things:

  • Good Friends
  • Newt!
  • Being Silly
  • Scalp massage
  • Mutual Laughter
  • Relaxing on my own
  • Getting along without stress
  • Nature Walks
  • Sleeping late
  • Helping someone in need
  • Tiny hands (or paws) lost in mine
  • Spinning in a circle
  • Finding sweet reminders left behind
  • Surprise phone messages
  • Being Sung to
  • Being told that I’m loved, and me believing it

Adjusting focus to the positives, of which there are many. I’ve got some good stuff happening, I think.

Gorillas hold ‘wake’ for group’s leader

BROOKFIELD, Illinois (AP) — After Babs the gorilla died at age 30, keepers at Brookfield Zoo decided to allow surviving gorillas to mourn the most influential female in their social family. Continue reading 7060 – crisp apple strudel sounds good, too.

7058 – Speaking in tongues is a lost art.

The gang at work (RI in particular) is getting pretty testy. Micromanagement about what window of opportunity I should take my lunch, and egotistical-types whining about not getting to do a presentation at the meeting. bleh bleh. RI’s a bad banana with a greasy black peel, and her heart is full of unwashed socks. There’s still hope for everyone, of course.

I can still smile. Pretty easily, really.

The pharmacy is moving out of the building soon. I don’t know what I’ll do about getting my morning fix of scotto-chow (in the format of diet Pepsi and pretzel-sticks)

Santa Mosh. Right on.

Charlie Brown Christmas was on last night. Got to love it. Origin of this Linus Icon, in fact. well, by way of Hey Ya Charlie Brown…

Marvel Stamps

Moment of Lyric – Soul Coughing – True Dreams of Wichita

Punch it
I got, uh, fed
I got, uh, too much things on bounce, uh, my head
I got to burn ’em up
I got to burn ’em up now
I got to go uptown, uptown
I got a thing
I got a little bit pushed
Got to stand on the corner and bellow for mush
I got a bomb
I got a baby bomb bomb
Got to stand on the corner and bellow for my friend tom
I got a thing, I got to thing it
I got to thing–team
I got to run my side

lileks is right…the UFO theme is a tune that you cannot help but do some spaz-dance to.

7056 – He who made kittens put snakes in the grass.

Went to Mel’s new place last night, she’ll be moving in there tomorrow, even though her lease doesn’t begin until the 15th. it’s a huge joint… very impressive. I’d love to own a home like that, not rent it. It’s going to be expensive to cool in the summer. Lots of room for the birds, maybe even have a flight out back.

How to Survive a Zombie Epidemic

This movie was created initially for a challenge posed by freeculture.org. It uses clips from the film “Night of the living Dead”, and “Amid the Dead”. Both of these films were acquired from archive.org. This film is an amusing instructional video on how to survive a zombie epidemic. The majority of the footage is taken from the other films mentioned, but the witty voice-over narrative is what makes this video a must see. Who knows, the information in this film may just save your life…

Life as Lyrics, lyrics as life.

The Traveling Wilburys, Handle with Care

Been beat up and battered ’round
Been sent up, and I’ve been shot down
You’re the best thing that I’ve ever found
Handle me with care

Best Jeopardy Clip I’ve seen! (thanks Sam!)

random Scotto factoid: the last day I went without posting at least one journal entry was august 20, 2000.

7053 – Where we’re going… we don’t need roads.

Yesterday, I started to see Christmas with the Kranks with Mel, but the projector broke…(I think we got lucky there.. it was sort of weak, but had some funny bits.. not worth restarting by any means. I think Tim Allen is better suited to the Santa Clause Movies.) so we went to Coral Square mall, and I reminisced about going there in the golden years of gaming with GrayPumpkin, Katt and the rest of the RPG crew.

Then we picked up a spot of din-din and hung out for a bit. It’s really nice having an excursion, hang-out and conversation partner. We’ve been in talks about going to the gym together, too.

I think I’m overdue on updating my 125 things.

changes to – 15, 32, 35, 56, 98, amongst others.

On my internal “monkey vs robot” the monkey is winning lately. By a landslide. He’d got bananas and bazookas. Robot’s just a wind up toy.

Random Mel factoid: She’s a “screen toucher”, in that when she points to things on the monitor, she leaves a teeny-tiny semi-circular finger print behind.

Random Scotto factoid: Not Too crazy about little finger circles on my monitor, but too polite to chastise her. I clean the screen when she preens in the latrine. hooray for rhymes!

7050 – not just an excellent printer

If I had a twin brother, I don’t know if I’d be the good one or the evil one.

I think I’d be the good one…Or maybe that’s just what I want *you* to think, dear journal.

Maybe I am as “bad” as Liver-eatin’ Johnson. Any Crow warriors around had better be careful, just in case.

There’s something very frightening about a knife attack, more so than a fist, gun or a bomb. The intimacy of the action along with the type of wound delivered is the most scary to me. I think I’d rather have a bone broken or a bad burn than be stabbed for the same amount of damage… if you can even quantify that in real life terms.

Man, even in a goatee, my mojo is indeed mighty. Better than a wrench on Yvonne MacGruder. I prefer having a shaved throat and cheeks, too.

Cosmo’s 10 hot new sex positions.

Um… new? Somehow, I bet there was some adventurous soul out there well before the 14th century doing most, if not all of these. Still, it never hurts to review the material, eh?

The dang Pentagon “wasn’t a 757 on 9/11” strike rumor is going around my friends list again.

Mel’s cousin bonked her head yesterday, and got knocked out… four years old. I hope to hear the little munchkin woke up and is mending well today. We’re going to get together for lunch today, after I finish fixing Caroline’s computer. Man, that’s been an ongoing chore…. a four or five year old laptop with power-supply issues.

Some Abstinence Programs Mislead Teens, Report Says

Many American youngsters participating in federally funded abstinence-only programs have been taught over the past three years that abortion can lead to sterility and suicide, that half the gay male teenagers in the United States have tested positive for the AIDS virus, and that touching a person’s genitals “can result in pregnancy,” a congressional staff analysis has found.

Those and other assertions are examples of the “false, misleading, or distorted information” in the programs’ teaching materials, said the analysis, released yesterday, which reviewed the curricula of more than a dozen projects aimed at preventing teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease.
