Last night's dreams

dream last night, the ides of march I went to bed sort of early last night, to get a long, deep sleep. I woke up about 4 am and doodled a quick piccie on the palm… took me about a half hour, then I snugged back to snoozeville. Not bad for having a sleepy kitty on my neck. (It loops after about a 30 second pause, if you want to see it go by again.)

I don’t recall the follow-up dreams later, but they were quite comforting, as well. Nice stuff… makes the whole day feel brighter.

Hmmm… now then, what’s for brunch? Apple Jacks, OJ, and peanut butter toast are looking good to me… and then a hot shower.

got a nifty e-card from One World Journeys by way of … Thanks to him and Sluggo! 🙂

Today’s Keywords – Messy Apartment on MSN search has Newtcam as #1! 🙂 Dubious.

Primarily for my sweetheart, but if anyone digs crosswords, there you go.

I wonder if my magical back pain germs were properly purged by phantom oso?

You know, sometimes I want to start a newspaper of the weird. Stuff found around the net.

‘Dr. Chaos’ held in cyanide case

Chicago police have raided Dr. Chaos’ (AKA Joseph Daniel Konopka, 25, of Wisconsin) subterranean lair, finding more than a pound of “potentially lethal cyanide,” ending his spree of malicious mischief. Well, maybe this is just a little silly, but still- there does seem to have been basically zero security down in the depths of the CTA, with those wacky kids toting cyanide around down there and changing the locks for kicks and grins.

there’s a little more information in this update:
CTA to inspect subways, seal unused rooms

This truly is a bizarre world we live in. The combined law enforcement agencies of the civilized world are directing their combined efforts at hunting down a sinister foreign millionaire and his private army in their secret mountain fortress, and now the cops have discovered Dr. Chaos’ subway hideout. When did the real world and the G.I. Joe cartoon weld together? Was it a slow, gradual process, or did it happen all at once?

“He’s a geek,” Chicago Police Supt. Terry Hillard said after a news conference Monday, adding that Konopka never indicated he intended to harm anyone.

“Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wagn’nagl dominos.”
“In his house in R’lyeh dead Cthulhu waits for the pizza man”

Made of People! – Holy moley. Quorn

Notice that on the U.S. version of the page, they don’t show this picture. Or this one. Or this one. Mycoprotein, mmm! Man, anybody who thinks we aren’t living in the future is kidding themselves. Palm Pilots, cel phones, speaker magic, the Kegelmaster 2000(pic) and now… Quorn. Welcome to the 21st century, baby.

So Where’d The Accent Come From?

Paper: Birth Certificate Shows Miss Cleo Is From L.A.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 15 — A birth certificate obtained by the state shows the woman marketed on cable television as Jamaican psychic Miss Cleo was actually born in Los Angeles, the daughter of American parents.

Also local is this cool gizmo that sniffs your butt for explosives and sees right through your clothes. Just like Superman.

US Army seeks nanotech suits
The goal of MIT’s new Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies is to “greatly enhance the protection and survival of the infantry soldier using nanoscience”

Which, of course, is laudable, in my opinion. Taking care of the grunts is a very good thing. And even though thinking about all the money spent on war leaves the repressed (and unrealistic) peacenik in me feeling sad and kind of queasy, the Science Fair geek in me can’t help but love this stuff. The approach they’re taking as regards camoflauge is pretty astounding, don’t you think? Invisibility suits. I want one.

I don’t know about that ferrofluid-filled fabric, though. Granted, this stuff is way beyond my feeble little brain… but exposure to an external magnetic field will turn our uniforms into splints? Umm … nobody tell the enemy about that, okay?

friday 5 liberated from

1. What was your first job?
Tavo Viva in the Boynton Beach Mall. I had a lot of fun there with friends, but swore off fast food for about a year after working there.

2. Have you ever had an affair or fling with someone you worked with?
Yup, and it lasted all of 3 weeks. Breyer… a lovely girl, but liked to date around. Not for me. (not an affair, really.)

3. Have you ever shoplifted? If yes, what did you steal?
Yup, a batman on a motorcycle toy when I was 6 or so from a five and dime. My dad found out about it, and gave me a talk about what Batman would do if he knew I took it… and he gave me a stern spanking too.

4. What was your favorite childhood toy?
That’s tough. Boy-dolls, I think…(those insecure about their sexuality call ’em action figures) Hulk and Spiderman, and Legos.

5. What are your plans this weekend?
If my back is better, and if my sweetie is going out with the girls… I’ll try to hit the movies. otherwise I’ll hang out at home and chill. I need to put some manuscripts into the mail, and send off a goodie bag. (long overdue)

Spoke with my sweetie tonight, and we had a grand time. very nice… we talked programing and voodoo, crossword puzzles and cartoons, and deep feelings. very fulfilling to me, and I think to her, too.

There are three lifeforms that I tell I love frequently, and I mean it more than words can convey.

All are Libras. 2/3 of them have red hair. 2/3 of them are male. 2/3 of them share my last name. 2/3 of them do not live with me. 2/3 of them I tell on a daily basis. 2/3 of them speak fluent English. All of them know how I feel. All of them reciprocate those feelings. I’m a very lucky person.

In the order that I met them… my brother, Newton, and my sweetheart. Each has brought special things into my life, changing it for the better. I like to think that I’ve helped their quality of life, too.

I ask anyone who reads this to tell someone they love that they do. It doesn’t matter if they know, tell ’em anyhow. They’ll appreciate it, and you’ll feel good for saying it.

more palm sketchery

Well, I’m up from my nap, and ready for lunch. I did a nice long meditation and relaxation before napping…I rarely sleep that long during the day.

Here’s some palm scribbles… It’s fun to doodle, even when my skills are lacking.

Actually, this isn’t too bad, considering the media and the artist. beard’s a little wacky. I forgot I had thinner brushes

naptime astral flight
visiting my sweetie during today’s nap…. astral travel is fun! note the silver cord connecting my bellybutton to my earthly form.

Insurance Woes.

Foundation Health is the worst insurance I’ve ever had. I just had to pay $58 out of pocket because foundation doesn’t do refills on the same sort of meds more than once every month. I only got a week and a half’s worth, so when I went to refill, no dice. (On insurance, it’d have cost about $20). On my old insurance it’d have cost $5, and I wouldn’t have to deal with any time-span hubbub. If I had a doomsday machine, FH would be a molten heap of slag.

Fark ’em. I’m going to Blue Cross / Blue Shield, anyway. Just a warning to anyone that has it. *Change it*. The copay is cheaper on BC/BS, and they’re reliable. My doc also warned me against foundation the time before last.

One of my duties when I return to work is to get as many people to change off of FH. I’d love to get the whole company to switch. Spread the word for me, if you think of it. you’ll be helping out anyone who changes.

I wish I had a giant roman tub, big enough for two. I think that’ll be a purchase I make when I own my own place…. or an indoor jacuzzi. Something big enough to soak and float in some hot water, and to share with my sweetheart, too.

Dreams of owning a pet grooming store last night…weird, because I really have no interest in that as a career. Newt, Blackie, Zen and Kringle were models for the place in our ads…. with bows and painted nails. Totally sissy looks for such butch little boys., but I imagine they suffered through it for our cause. The place was very successful… I guess it’s because I’ve had critters on the brain lately. (The legion of superbabies, and all that).

Here’s an unusual proposal for archiving the collected works of mankind on what is, you must admit, a pretty enduring medium…I what sort of changes they would wreak? Certainly will last longer than any CD-Rom. Cockroaches. ew!

I love the answers on my server name poll!

The ones I least expected were and ‘s choices… clever!

via what do i know-

You can learn a lot about someone by the names they give their hard drives. This thread at Slashdot compiles some naming convention ideas you could use next time you reformat a hard drive or buy a new machine. Including…

some examples there are –

  • The Seven Dwarfs (after 7, make your own dwarfs, like “Sleazy”) – or maybe the smurfs?
  • Pop Stars (“Hey, Britney is down again. N-Sync has crashed.”)
  • Retro Arcade Games (Blinky, Pinky…)
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases (“Imagine walking into a room: Hey, can you check Syphylis? For some reason AIDS isn’t talking to it.”)
  • Countries
  • Comic Book Characters (I’ve actually done this one)
  • Cast of Cheers (Norm, Dianne, Cliff…)
  • Ice Cream Flavors
  • Major International Cities
  • Sexual Positions (“Hey, would you try DoggyStyle? I can’t get in.”)
  • Greek Mythology (Zeus, Aphrodite, Hades, etc) (seen it done)
  • Biblical Names (seen it done)
  • Dead Rock Stars
  • Monty Python characters

And my personal favorite there…

  • “Things You Can Do To A Ball” (Punt, Kick, Slam, Spike, Dunk, Pop, Inflate)

One’s I’ve done are classic authors (poe, twain, emerson, etc), and a hive theme (queen bee, worker, drone1,drone2)

Maybe Super Apes!

a year ago, this week.

Ultrababy-Xsuper-newtie Hey! Ultrababy-X! does anyone remember him? Super-Newtie does! I wonder if Lexie is ready to pass her membership in the legion of super-babies on to her younger sibling? A year ago, we mentioned that this baby can dig holes at an incredible rate and is destined to lead us to an underground utopia and a new age of enlightenment. Perhaps that’s why he is known to the children as Ultrababy X. I think he wants to recruit little Lexie into his legion of Superbabies.

How many people want to add an infant or cuddly pet to the legion? There is the Legion of Superbabies and the Legion reserve, comprised of Fuzzy babies, led by Newton. (Herschel, Buddy, and Buzzito are all honorary members…) How about the rest of you guys? any baby/pet piccies to add to the list of the Pee-wee crusaders?

a year ago, bigfoot was sighted. bigfoot sighted!

Hmm… also, a year ago, gnomes on snailback were a project. I wonder where they’re at these days. 🙂

ski jump game!… very cool. thanks, !!
