I am missing my boys today. Pye’s birthday is soon.
I keep looking to see if they are on the stairs, or thinking to check water levels for them with the warm temps, or I just want on or both of them to sit on my lap and cuddle.
My heart is really breaking. Pye has been gone for a month now. Newton passed over two years ago. When does it get easier? I don’t want to get a new pet until our mourning has eased at least some, but that might be quite a while.

Samurai facial armor (sĹmen), mislabelled âexecutionerâs mask,â iron, 18thâ19thcentury (?), London, Science Museum Group Collection, obj. no. A129822, The Board of Trustees of the Science Museum.
Two âexecutionerâs masksâ housed in the collection of the pharmaceutical entrepreneur and philanthropist Henry Solomon Wellcome (1853â1936) have recently been exposed as historiographical forgeries manufactured in the nineteenth-century.
Previously these objects were believed to have covered the face of the executioner during capital punishment, either to disguise his identity or to protect him from the âevil eyeâ of the dead convict. In an article for History Today, Alison Kinney argued that such notions do not match with early modern written and visual documentation but rather with Victorian âgothicâ sensibilities.
