Wow… pleasantly exhausting dreams last night. I wonder what factors make some vivid, and others difficult to remember? Emotional content? Adrenaline?

Seventy-eight full-color reasons to be glad you’re not in high-school any more.

They certainly seem to have more variety of industrial-distributed food, though.

Makes me miss my Speed Buggy Lunchbox.

some terrain for miniatures wargaming. Here’s a use for those AOL Discs…put a small glob of thick white glue on an old CD, then pile on bits of sprue, kitty litter, gravel or sand and cool looking bits on to it. (sprue and cool stuff first, then the grit just to cover any glue, then paint.. base in black, and dry brush the colors.

Hm… interesting. I submitted my figures to mkrealms, for an evaluation (Note, I paid about $28 total for the two starter sets of 10 that brought them together) not bad…$73 worth of figs. That Chaos mage is worth $21? Nutty collectors.3x the price, right out of the box.

I forgot until I was out the door this morning that it was vote-day! So much for getting to work terribly early. I managed to avoid all the tech-trouble that many of the stations were having today.

I won my ebay auction… so I should be getting more little figures than I’ll ever need, for cheapy-cheap. 🙂 Toys! Yay! Fun!

Where’s my PM thunderstorms?

Computer-controlled music played on explosion organs. – Remember that church organ that I thought looked like it was designed to fire projectiles at the listeners?

The Large Hot Pipe Organ is the world’s only MIDI controlled, propane powered explosion organ. The LHPO’s pyro-acoustic explodo-rhythmations will throbbatize your earholes and dance-ify your booty and make you realize what “Industrial Music” REALLY means!

Cool Doodles by Stanislaw Lem – I especially liked the Skeleton of a Procyte

I’m going to turn in a little early… I think a good long night of rest is in order. The vertigo passed about noonish today, but I had no real appetite… I’m going to put a little fuel in the body, just for doing so, and then it’s reading and playing with the Newtzilla before beddy-bye.

Got a new set of sheets today… made of an oddball t-shirt sort of cotton. Comfy. Very suited to a tie-dye project, but for now, pristine white is nice too… typing of which, I’m rather enjoying the feel of socks, lately. Times change.

I want someone to take me out to buy some new birks…and maybe some canvas sneakers.

Rain off and on like a little kid flicking a switch all day… wet- dry-wet-thunder-dry thunder-wet.

I remember reading the rules to Dungeons and Dragons on the way home from church, circa 1978. I didn’t see a clash, then… nor do I now, really.

Spent much of the day playing mage knight with Dave… I picked up 20 random figs via starter kit… and what’s the first one I draw? A werebear, of course. 🙂

I also got – two shade, wood golem Living elemental (A good brother piece to the golem), amotep gunner, ranger (not nearly painted this well) Half-troll hacker, black powder boomer, leech medic , screeching terror, altem guardsman, and dwarven fuser (who looks like he has a spoon on his nose).

My least favorite piece- Amazon Blade mistress… because the paint job is awful, and the base is tough to click.

My Faves – Chaos Mage – I like his antlers, and he kicks butt…much neater looking in person. I also got his little brother, the Slasher, who looks nothing like his picture there. Deep Spawn is nifty, but mine is black, with a light green detail.

Most useful overall? The Chaos Mage, above, and the Grave Robbers (I got a red and a blue of those, too)… Kept me from losing my army very fast.

I had a nice time… Cathi seems to be sort of rough around the edges, these days, though. Weirdness… Mark Archila is working at the Lost Realms store, and recognized me right away. I may call ’em back and say hi… it’s weird seeing him with long hair and I guess he’s living on his own in west palm.Still a nice, friendly, genuine guy, though.

P.S… The twelve dragons store? It smells like pee. cat pee. a lot of it. my eyes burned. really. don’t go there, ever, unless you want your eyes to burn form a ton of cat-pee smell.

p.p.s…. and the gamers were ordering chinese food to eat there! in the cat-pee scented store. Ack. cute kittens, though.

going out this afternoon….spending midday with Dave.. He’s been bitten by the mage knight bug, so maybe we’ll play some of that over coffee. Who knows? maybe I’ll pick up a few figures and have a fantasy army to whomp on my supers?

I slept like a corpse last night. Long, deep, seemingly dreamless. Russian Sleep… the kind you wake up like rip van winkle, and see the world around you has changed by 300 years. Newt didn’t swab me this morn, or I didn’t feel it… when I did wake, my eyes snapped open, and my mind was clear… no grogginess at all. Very unusual for me.. usually I do a slow five or ten minute “fade in”.

Sweetheart – in the works. possibly multiple designs. Playing with femo. Fun .:)

Dan – black t-shirt with swirly orange and white design on the front, maybe his name on the back? Brown/rust colored pants, black sneakers, and his moustache. Maybe a little blue leg brace on his right knee, too. (Don’t put on his bald spot, be nice, Scotto.)

Brother – Surf-shorts, t-shirt, long hair, sandals. Maybe a surfboard?

Holy Viagra, Batman! maybe not safe for work…

Well, Ford has given up on making electric-only cars. That’s pretty sad. I would love to see electric-only cars (instead of hybrid) ruling the highways. Personally, I never heard of their car, the THINK. It looks kinda dippy, but cute…very much like it was designed for a non-US market.

Even the limited range would work perfectly for me… (6 hours to charge a battery and you can go 53 miles. Seeing as I live within a 20 mile trip, it’d work out ok, but they need to up the ante for the bigger commuters, and plugging in at work might be a no-no, too, depending on the trickle draw) I hope hybrids can bridge the gap, eventually.

My new favorite online dictionary – Onelook… where else could I discover this – Hungarian – lóvé : money Non-count noun. Originally a gypsy word. ‘Tele van lóvéval’ means he is loaded with money. Love=money! Other good slang expressions there, too. Probably not safe for work.

Factoids not about Scotto-

  • A necropsy is an autopsy on animals.
  • 0.3% of all road accidents in Canada involve a moose.
  • 13 people a year are killed by vending machines falling on them.
  • Behram, an Indian thug, holds the record for most murders by a single individual. He strangled 931 people between 1790-1840 with a piece of yellow and white cloth, called a ruhmal.
  • The most murders by a woman is 610 young women, by Countess Erzsebet Bathory of Hungary. (So she could bathe in and drink the blood) between 1560 and 1615.

Tropical paradise made from recycled bottles

If you can’t afford beachfront real-estate, why not make your own?

A British carpenter who dreamed of living on a private sunshine isle built himself one using 250,000 plastic bottles.
Richie Sowa spent four years making the floating Spiral Island, which measures 66ft by 54ft, weighs 60 tons and has three sandy beaches.

The mangrove-covered paradise, which is anchored off the coast of Mexico, includes a two-bedroom house with a large living room and kitchen.

The walls are made from palm trees and the roof is plastic sheeting.

Richie hopes to make the island totally self-sustainable and is growing food including tomatoes.

Here’s an article about what we’ve done regarding Saudi oil in the last year...the short version, we’re still giving them a pile o’ money. I’d think boycotting them and getting our juice from other sources would be a stronger message to the world than declaring war. No one body is to blame… Democrats and republican both should be ashamed of how little they’ve done.

Looks like art conspiracy has decided to stop remote hosting… bah! I guess I’ll start using msn’s host, until I fill it up… I hate having little picture-holes in my journal, though. I should go back, and update with a link to the site, so people can connect directly to there to see.

A year ago today… That crazy Anne Heche interview, and pygmies are real!

Two years ago – silly answering machine message, and Frank Sinatra.

Dear Newton,

… Stop stealing Sabretooth, and hiding him behind the litter box. This is the third time.

Sincerely,
Your loving mother.

Thing learned today-

In 388 BC, Plato went to the court of Dionysius, ruler of Syracuse, hoping to be taken on as philosopher-in-residence. From The Essential Plato by Paul Strathern:

Dionysius was not the kind of man to let himself be cowed by some philosophic nob who was trying to cadge a job at his court. When he and Plato turned to discussing philosophy, the sparks soon began to fly. At one point Plato found himself forced to point out a flaw in Dionysius’ thinking.

‘You speak like a geriatric fool,’ exclaimed Dionysius in disgust.

‘And you speak like a tyrant,’ replied Plato.

Whereupon Dionysius decided to live up to the philosopher’s observations and had Plato clapped in irons. Plato was placed on a Spartan ship bound for Aegina, where the captain was instructed to sell Plato as a slave. ‘Don’t worry, he’s so much of a philosopher he won’t even notice,’ remarked Dionysius… And it wasn’t long before Plato was spotted in the slave market at Aegina by his well-heeled old friend Anniceris the Cyrenaic, who bought him for the bargain price of twenty mina. Anniceris was so pleased with his cut-price philosopher that he sent him back to Athens with enough money to set up a school.

I never knew that.

Until later, dear journal… off to work.

Ack… bounceout for the palm.… I thought palm bejeweled was evil. See also runes and asteria… not to mention the version of newton’s nightmare that I revised for the palm. (no relation to this one) and atum.

Random Scotto factoids – I have *never* lost a sock in the line of laundry duty. When I worked at the bookstore, and vacuumed up in the morning, I could get the entire morning crew to sing with me. Two or three girls (or falsetto boys) would do ewww…. ahhh-awh ah-ahh, while one guy would do the baseline. Usually Adrian, if he was in. “doom-doom doom”

Meanwhile, I would run the vacuum over the carpet, and sing: (the kids would chime in at the Underdog Chorus… italicized.)

There’s no need to fear! Underdog is here!

when criminals in this world appear
and break the laws that they should fear
and frighten all who see or hear
the cry goes up both far and near
for Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Underdog. Underdog!

when in this world the headlines read
of those whose hearts are filled with greed
who rob and steal from those who need
to right this wrong with blinding speed
goes Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

speed of lightning, roar of thunder
fighting all who rob or plunder
Underdog. Underdog!

It would make my whole day.

animaniacs quiz

Played a couple of games of heroclix with Dave… 300 pointers, one game over beer, the second over coffee. Dave won the beer game, and I took coffee.

I think Professor X is a jinx piece… I’ve never seen him play on a winning team where Dave is involved. The leadership power is tempting, and mind control fun, though. I like telling other people’s pieces to cause mayhem.

The second game was very close, too…I think that if I’d not taken it that turn, he could very possibly have won the following…. the first game, however was all his.

I didn’t go to the art fair today…but I heard that it was only mediocre from my brother.

Zen-kitty was looking good… Marley has lost weight, and has some red spotting on his nose…they’re taking him to the vet on Tuesday. Luna is putting on weight. The humans all look healthy.

Mission accomplished… Dan and I had a nice time, quiznos for lunch and an afternoon of miniatures combat. Newt was very well behaved and quite lovey to Dan. And was good about not getting on the table while we were playing.

Good food and good company… no complaints, right?

I don’t envy Dan’s surgery this morning. The final size of the two bits they took… a 1-inch diameter circle and a slightly smaller bit from the side of his nose. He’s going to have to clean and redress it fairly often… the final close on it was decent, though. I suspect it’ll heal with a very minimum of noticeable scars.

He brought me butterfinger bites, and a few new figs.. Very nice! Blizzard and quicksilver, along with some shield grunts.

He had a turkey sub, and water… I had veggie and gatorade… the pretzels were never opened, but he liked the peanuts.

like the ol’ days when we gamed all the time pic

Well, looks like they’ve gone in for another look. Danny’s got to wait again on this dig.

I’m back, got some pretzels, baby carrots and dill dip, diet coke, Gatorade, and dropped off the mail that needed to go out today.

I’m looking at my heroclix, and thinking that I could custom do a few different figures… it seems a bit rough, but I think that kingpin will be the simplest one to start with for myself…because he’s bald and broad. I may modify a Hercules, too, just to have a kilt. 🙂 Depending on what outfit my sweetie picks, I’m guessing jean grey, or scarlet witch will do the trick for her. I feel that thug will be a good one for my brother, again, because he’s bald, and easy to make a long-haired male figure from. quicksilver is closer to his body-type, though… maybe I’ll use that one, or hydra operative.… I’m going to use the operative for Danny, too… shave off the gun, and paint it more domestic.

For Newton and Blackie.. I’m going to have to get some o-scale cats, or make ’em out of femo. still debating giving Blackie a little mouse or bird on his stand. (Newt’ll have a teeny version of his stuffed tick toy)

Or… I may say the heck with it, after painting the first one.

Some cool props, here.… I really like the pizza boxes… a good prop for the bro. 🙂 and Chinese takeout, for me.

I was delighted to see the Halloween promotions already in full swing… thoughts of cooler nights, happy children, costumes and candy…. that brings a smile to my face.

Autumn’s on it’s way… less than a month to go!

From rgladiator… a lovely way to urinate on spammers.

wpoison – a nifty little cgi program to kick spammers in the nards. if you don’t know, or can’t use cgi, they welcome you to link to theirs.

I made it inside the house *just* in time to avoid the storm. Yay! It’s coming down pretty nicely now… it was sprinkling earlier, but the ride home was dry. A good test of the bike’s splashguards. There are a zillion tiny frogs jumping around near the alyssum on the east side of my place. I thought that they were bugs at first… literally the size of large ladybugs.

Random Scotto opinion / factoid:

I liked Murphy Brown, before all the politics showed up, then it mostly sucked…. as opposed to the Ellen show, which was mostly stinky throughout the few episodes that I’d seen.

Oh, coolio…This radio-controlled flying-saucer incorporates a programmable LCD on which you can add your own scrolling message, i.e., “I paid $99 for a radio-controlled flying saucer!”

On the way home, past Mickey-D’s… I noticed that they’re selling hot dogs, now? How long has that been going on? I imagine it’d have done well, if they started in July 4. I see that the Cuban food that they tried is no longer there. Bleh…

Public schools officially opened today… wow, does the traffic pick up at that point. Who’d have thought that a yellow bus or nine would make such a difference? Of course, I live within four blocks of an elementary school.

Well, looks like Scotto forgot to hit post! Nigh nigh, dear journal!
next set of heroclix teams, 200 pt game ideas
