Ok.. went to the Doc this morning, and he’s approved my going to a neurologist to see if there are any other alternatives to surgery. I’m doing reasonably well, so I’ve got high hopes and reasonable expectations. The insurance company has been hassling me doctor terribly, to the point of him mentioning, “I know it’s not your fault, but they’ve disrupted the whole office with incessant requests and pointless forms.” Apparently, they’re under the doctor has orders now to put stuff in a file (I imagine circular) and just contend directly a maximum 2 times a week, and ignore the rest.

I wonder how things with my brother went at the courthouse today… I hope everything got sewn up with a minimum of fuss.

Had some lovely veggies, rice and tempura… bro got spicy chicken. We gabbed and played yahtzee… spent some quality time together. I’m going to miss not seeing him on his birthday or Halloween, but we’ll be in letter contact pretty much daily.

Going to the doc first thing tomorrow morning, at last to have him review my most recent MRIs. I hope that he and I both like what he sees.

Only 5 more months until my birfday!

Got my packages into the mail, so goodies (and forwarded goodies) should be winging the way to points north as I type this.

Getting together with the Bro tomorrow for an early supper at Tokyo bowl…I figure we can get out convo caught up there over some California rolls and miso, or bean burritos and rice. I want to spend as much time with him as possible before he heads off.

Ol’ Network gave us some trouble today, right as I was setting up an email account.. I thought first that the pc was down, then the server.. it turned out internet was broken across the board. A mild setback and we were up and running in under an hour.

I had a nice email convo, and got to call Kev on the phone to ask for him to donate some hardware, software and license stuff to ACIM, and also make a tentative appointment for a get together at IHOP for some tasty nighttime breakfast.

Putting a lot of our donated art stuff from Las Olas on eBay, and tracking that is going to be a daily fun stop

Up and at ’em, Atom Ant!

Well, I’ve got a fair amount of sleep under my belt (about 5 hours… I prefer at least 6) so I think I’ve got a decent amount of Scotto-fuel to get me through the day.

I’ve got the things I’m going to mail off today, and my bank deposit. Hopefully, I can get that stuff taken care of sometime midday. It’s raining and thundering out right now… I’m in a decent mood.

Enough looking out the window... time to chill out.

ok, I’ve implemented flex points in my system…we’ll see how that works out. Rather than point ranges for each day, 35 flex points are awarded each week. These points may be used as needed during the week. As part of this program Weight Watchers has eliminated point ranges and now assigns a single daily point value for each weight group. Seven days, five points a day, equals 35 points. I’ve done the math, and you still get the exact same number of points per week – it’s just a different psychological way of counting. They’re just modifying the system so that it’s in terms of a week rather than in terms of a day… though I can reserve some for a extra gluttonous day on occasion.

Insurance called, and apparently misunderstood about my being able to work form home. I honestly cannot take the bus and train for literally hours every day. Going back and forth to physical therapy is torment enough, thank you. I wish that they’d just talk to the doctor about these things, and get a straight answer rather than just assuming “can continue to work from home” means, “can work at work, if accommodated”. It’s not nearly the same, as much as I’d like it to be so.

Ok, we’re making progress. I’ve got a prescription for a foot brace to build up some strength there, and a MRI.

Let’s hope Workman’s Comp stays Johnny on the spot. I’d like that to be scheduled swiftly. I’ll start pestering them on Monday.

I’ve picked up my new cheapskate phone, and it seems to do the job well enough. it’ll make for a good spare when the new one arrives.

Had a nice day today, though there’s a tiny headache seed in my noggin… hopefully it’ll pass before taking bloom.

Back from PT. Looks like I had a power outage. All of my non-autorun files are closed. I’m glad that my developer’s environment auto saves every 10 minutes now.

I got lucky… I thought my appointment was at noon, but it was really at 11… I must’ve gotten my schedules mixed up somehow. Fortunately, they had a cancellation… good thing, too… because although it’s just across the way, rain is coming down in big, thick, heavy drops. Walking with a Crutch on one hand, and an umbrella in the other is no easy feat. It’s been coming down hard for a little while now… drainage is becoming an issue. The flowerboxes around my south and east windows are totally flooded, as is the side walkway and rear alley. I hope all of the lizards from yesterday are safely in the trees. Biggest problem about crossing the street was the gutters full of overrun. Puddles about ankle deep and three feet across at the narrows… and I’m not in a condition to go stomping or pole-vaulting over them.

Going to an orthopedic Monday morning, 9:45 am.

The office is next door. (I’m in 1207; they’re at 1212 on the same street) That’s the way…. uh-huh, uh-huh… I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.

Workman’s comp starts covering on the 22nd day out. I don’t think I’ll be gone nearly that long, but I am glad that they’re paying for the doctor and all prescriptions. HR at FMM never was on top of things like the *at all*. It’s amazing to work for a company that’s got its act together. Workman’s comp also is willing to pay for any travel I have to do. I’m glad that I wasn’t terribly hurt, but I feel much more secure knowing they’re on the job.

Poop… my paid links aren’t being renewed this month. Ah well, off my page they go. It was nice while it lasted…$160 in free money over 8 months. I’d gladly work with them again in the future.

Since I removed the links, I’ve officially replaced the old index page with the more earthy-one that I’ve had in the works forever and a day. I’m going to set up my other pages using the same style sheet, eventually. I’m also contemplating the insertion of the welcome message inside the title-graphic.

6:29 am trying the later launch…the extra 30 of sleep is a good thing, i know that. Up a bit later tonight because of D and Ciara’s birthday party at the fibber island annex (Polly gone mad)

6:48 am this is the crunch time- to get there by 7. I’m assured that it is, though I’ll be more comfortable once confirmed.

7:01 am made it, just enough time to buy a ticket and hop on. Contact HR about the discount program. Also, pick up shampoo, TP and petty cash on the way home. This week, get another pair of pants, 2 pr. Socks,2 shirts, underwear. Dreamt last night of losing a tooth… All that was left shaped like a moth’s. Wing made of enamel. It was sore but not painful.

7:53 am in with time to spare, even though the cab from the train station didn’t take plastic, so we had to side track to a nearby ATM. Brett and Jeff both came in shortly after me…. good to see early starters!

12:17 pm at the hospital. I tripped over a power cord, landed on my left knee, and managed to further knock my back out of whack.

12:42 pm just had a fit of hysteria from being strapped down for the last 2 hours. My nose is now full of mucus, and i can’t get any tissues. I hate this. I want out now. At least my arms are free, but i still feel trapped here.

2:05 pm out of radiology… Unstrapped at last. Waiting now for what i assume is a shot of an anti-inflammatory.

2:17 pm no shot? Just a prescription for vicodin and a referral to another doctor. Good grief. The referral is for a Delray doctor…I’m also not to report back to work until Monday. I need to Call Donna (xt 102?) re: workman’s comp docs

4:04 pm waited about 2 hours for a cab to the tri-rail… Gave up, went to the bus stop, and got ride there in under 5 minutes. Lesson learned? F yellow cab in Delray Beach and hooray for palm tran.

4:28 pm boo for tri-rail’s 20-minute tardy train and ticket machine that can neither read my visa card, and gives 17.25 in change back to me in Susan b Anthony dollars.

4:39 pm “boarding in approximately 10 minutes ”

4:51 pm aboard. Hm. Days like this (Years like this) make me disbelieve in a “non- reincarnation” one-life karma. I will admit that 2000-now has been mostly great. January 2003-now has been mostly poor save for a few delightful bright spots. I foresee more good than bad in the year to come. A new job, some new friends, and good thoughts are there.

6:04 home! Cute kids on the train… entertaining teens on the way home from school. I found out the mystery package is a returned Christmas box I sent mid-December. I wonder now if all the Valentine’s Day prezzies made it?

Still awake… couldn’t sleep…restless. So I’ve tried a hot bath. After I dry more, I’ll hit the sack again.

Brown is Green. A dung-fueled power station in the UK has won an environmental award from the Euro Solar educational charity. The £7M plant produces power for the national grid, and is capable of generating 1.4 megawatts of power at full tilt. Located in Devon, it runs on approximately 1.6 million tons of waste produced by local farmers. Apparently, this trend is pretty big in Germany and Denmark: both countries already have about 20 large-scale poo-poo-powered plants.
